HTC Aria for AT&T US is like an HTC HD mini running Android

HTC AT&T Android Touch UI

AT&T is getting ready for an Aria with the Three Tenors - HTC, Android and Sense UI. The HTC Aria is a close relative to the HTC HD mini in hardware specs, but it's out with the old OS and in with the new OS when it comes to software.

The HTC Aria (formerly known as HTC Liberty) packs the same hardware as the HTC HD mini - a 3.2" HVGA capacitive touchscreen, 5MP camera and 3G connectivity in a compact body. It runs on a 600MHz CPU and has 384MB or RAM - which is exactly what its fancier Android sibling - the HTC Legend - has.

The major change between the HTC Aria and the HD mini is the OS - the Aria runs Android 2.1.

There are a few other changes as well - a different set of hardware keys and the addition of an optical trackpad, but that's about it.

The HTC Aria offers quad-band GSM/EDGE and 3G with HSPA along with Wi-Fi and GPS in the connectivity department. It has a microSD card slot for memory expansion and there's a 2GB card in the box to get you started. The 1200mAh Li-Ion battery provides enough juice for 6 hours of talk time or up to 15 days and a half of standby.

The HTC Aria will hit retail store on June 20 for 230 US dollars (130 after a mail-in rebate). That's with a two-year contract and a smartphone data plan. The AT&T press release says that the Aria is exclusive for AT&T in the US - we still hope to see a version of it available on our side of the Atlantic.
