Does it make any sense to design a phone which require 20 hours to be charged fully? If it never occurred to you what might have been the problem then I guess SmartPhones ain't meant for you.

I switched on from Apple to HTC but could... moreYou have a defective battery because it takes only 1-2 hours to fully charge the battery to full from empty, and I charge my battery every night after having used it all day for phonecalls and check mail and surf the web as I am now on my Desire. And I can listen to the FM-radio the whole day or listen to music on my phone all day.

if compeny take back this phone and return my money then really thankfulness.........
Hopeless and absolutely useless phone. I switched from Blackberry to HTC and felt like throwing it away within the first few days...The battery is crap....Mail application is not great either, doesnt even support colour text. Address book filtering is ordinary. Calander has limited choices. On top of it the Middle East version has some application which i cannot get rid of!!! ITs FRURSTRATING !!!!

Maybe you got one that was defective. IDK. BUT PLS, take into consideration that you only compared the Desire to the i phone 4 and NOT 4G.There are many more phones that HTC produced, so dont get all sour about your one experience. Fine, i understand that you are upset, but dont jump to conclusions so fast.
I bought my HTC desire recently from Kuwait.I was surprised to see that the language option gives choices like Kuwait English, Lebanon English Jordan English, Bahrain English etc!!1 And no option for original UK or even Us English. What nonsense from HTC.And also some useless programmes like Al Moazin, Arabic dictionary, Hijri calender and lot more installed in the phone memory, which cannot be removed.Wasting a lot of memory in the phone. I would not have bothered if they had installed them in the SD card.I don't understand why a company like HTC do this.I want to remove the useless programmes , can any body advise exactly how to root. I googled, but could not understand all tech stuff description. Thanks
Third Class.... Third Classs..... Third Classs.....
I switched on from Apple to HTC but could not tolerated it even for one week. There is no comparison dearsss.... Especially battery. You will have to charge it almost for 20 hours out of 24. Its battery life is just zero. and recharge.... extremely bad. I could charge fully my 3GS on car charger within 2 hours which lasted for almost whole the day. but HTC...? not even 25% after charging for 8-9 hours. I was in consecutive drive of 8-9 hours but could not fully charge it. DAMNNNN.....
Pleeeeeez never compare iPhone with HTC. It will be even better to throw your money than to have an HTC.
I am going to have iPhone 4G tomorrow.
desire what is desire yo wants yo needs this is what u needs big up HTC on the level that i want how u guyz
I don't think this phone deserves a right to have the title multi-touch input method but instead, a two-point input method for pitch-to-zoom. It's not even a real multi-touch...-_- Now I can't play so many games that require multi-touch (without glitching up the two points)....
It's misleading. If my replacement isn't approriate, think of another word. Using multi-touch here is misleading.
Anonymous, 07 Feb 2011i suggested u buy Nokia N8.N8 have hardware-problems, it starts with it turning itself off and then one day it simply will not turn be able to turn on again. This is a problem for many N8, but not all, so you might be one of the lucky ones but you take a big risk if you decide to buy a N8.
N8 is ONLY a fantastic camera for taking pictures, but it does "only" have a xenon-flash so it does not have any video-light. I suggest you to buy a "real" smartphone, not a Symbian, and then buy a dedicated real camera, they are small enough today so you actually can have them both in your pants pockets.
Even if you set your Desire to install "everyting" on the sd-card, some parts of every app will be installed on the internal memory wich will not be untouched, and some apps still can not be installed on sd-card so even if you tell your phone to do so those apps still will be installed on your internal memory.
With data2ext the internal memory will be completely replaced/removed so the "internal" memory then will be on the sd-card, so every app will then be installed on the sd-card because there then does not exist any internal memory on the phone itself anymore. I used GParted Live, http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php , to partion my sd-card with Fat32 + 2GB Ext4 + 0.3GB Ext4 + 0.1GB Swap and then used this [ROM][New Sense][26 Jan]RCMixHD v2.0 FINAL 1.72.405.3 with Ownheres newest Data2Ext script v8.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789830

habib, 06 Feb 2011htc desire is an overall nice phone but it is FAIL. i own one for 3 months now. the only flaw ... moreroot your mobile using ADB, and set all your default installations to your SD card. That way you can leave your internal memory untouched. I do that and am happy with the speed

My Desire was bought with 2.2 built in as standard. (the latest Desire's will have 2.2 ).

htc desire is an overall nice phone but it is FAIL. i own one for 3 months now. the only flaw that makes it FAIL is the internal memory for application. it is not stated here which would be around 80 mb. it is just not enough for application downloads. i recommend people not to buy.
I wan't to buy my first smartphone and I discovered HTC Desire. But then.. I found out about its poor internal storage :( so my question for the geniuses out there is: What are our options for installing apps to the micro SD card (as this obviously is the best way to solve the poor internal storage problem)?
Also, I just wanna share that before deciding to go for Desire (actually, I'm not that decided yet), I've considered buying the following phones:
- Motorola Milestone 2: I believe everything in it is great, EXCEPT the Motoblur UI :( it's just far from reaching the beauty HTC Sense UI brings on the table.
- HTC Desire Z: Again, I was disappointed with the internal storage, plus I didn't like the Z hinge.
- Apple iPhone 4: Though everything seems smooth in this phone, I'm just really not happy with all the restrictions Apple has been imposing on their customers. No flash, HEAVILY dependent on iTunes, and A LOT MORE.
So there you have it. I hope you guys could help me out with all the details about Desire and stuff. Thanks in advance for those who would :)
Deborah, 06 Feb 2011Hi, Can someone tell me if this has macro mode on the camera? Thanks. Not quite a macro lens but it can take pictures from only about 3" away from the target very clearly.
Arani, 04 Feb 2011Can someone tell me if the desire with froyo supports Divx/Xvid out of the box? also, does it ... moreHey, yes the desire can play 720p but only in the format it records.
A better option which uses less space but looks better would be to use handbrake (a video conversion program) and halve the resolution of the chosen clip :)
hope that helps
