Hey. Well between the Desire and Desire HD,
It all depends on your preference of pros and cons . I am actually at the same position and did a lot of research. If you dont mind the extra cost, a bit heavier, about 12 hours battery life for medium usage then you should go for the Desire HD. It comes with more ram and rom with the new HTC sence and will probably get new software upgrades faster. I think the desire may not get anymore(if not very late).
But I will wait till Q2 to buy a high end phone because all the new phone will come out after the world mobile conference in February. They will introduce all the new high end phones with dual-core and the HTC desire 2 is rumored to be released soon. Older cells will also be expected to reduced in price.
Anonymous, 28 Jan 2011Honeycomb hasn't even been released yet, and Google have hinted it's only for Tablet anyway.
... moreThanks, i was a bit worried whether to buy a year old android device, provided that android versions are being updated so quickly i'm bothered that year old devices will get old that easy too. I'm interested in buying htc desire since it's price has already gone down to the point that i'm willing to pay for. I'm just waiting for this year's MWC announcements, and hoping that another alternative with new hardware at the same price bracket will be released in the nigh future.
Still problematic. I want the best choice, and it's really hard when there's so many to choose from. Given that i'm budgeting doesn't make it any easier.

I saw a comment "only A8183 model comes with AM-OLED" Could anybody help me in this regard?
I wanna buy a desire. I didn't use android phone yet. How can I check the android version (2.1 or 2.2)? Currently desire is shipped with LCD screen not AMOLED. Is there any technique to check the screen type while buying?

Data2SD is still unstable compared to A2SD+ at the moment.
Don't think you can compare that ROM to Defrost, RichardTrip's work takes some beating
Kaloy, 26 Jan 2011Hi guys, am planning to buy this smartphone and i heard lots of positive feedbacks. my only... morethe pic quality and video recording both brilliant i had one to use for the day which was running android 2.2..
Anonymous, 26 Jan 2011Thats also with a 1Gb PartitionA2sd is not the same as DATA2sd!
With a2sd some parts of every app is still installed on the internal 147 mb memory so you will rather soon run out of memory on your internal memory even if a2sd "moves" all apps to the sd-card. Having 1 gb a2sd is overkill because you will still run out of internal memory long before you have been able to use all your 1 gb on tje sd-card.
With DATA2sd your internal memory is replaced with the 1 gb on the sd card, and you can use all of those 1 gb because the original 147 mb internal memory does not exist anymore and is replaced with the 1 gb on the sd-card. DATA2sd is a completely different and much better option! And the rom on the link in an earlier comment is by far better than Defrost.
I tried to connect my Desire to my pc but it tells me to install htc sinc that came along with the micro sd card but I purchased a sixteen gb micro sd when I bought the phone. The one that came with the device is not with me. Now how can I install and connect to my pc? Can anyone help?
