Although the Desire is a top handset, it's biggest downfall is it runs on Android. Now, Android itself isn't the problem per se, but the fact it is owned by Google.
Google is in my opinion the most evil corporation on the planet. They want to know about everybody's personal lives. Take for instance the way they scan all your incoming and outgoing Gmail emails so as to target you with specific advertising based on certain key words harvested from your Emails.
Not to mention that when they took a photo of your house, for street view, they " accidentally " scanned your WiFi network and collected your networks login details.
Maybe, if another company could produce a Linux based OS for smartphones, and HTC adopted that, then maybe more people would consider getting a HTC.

Just my opinion though, so I'm sure many will disagree. Indeed I hope you will.

Cheers.

Ray

Imediately after installation I get a warning that I am running out of memory but after 5 minutes or a restart I again have about 30 mb of free internal memory and then can do the same thing again and install another app..., and all apps I have installed work perfectly without any problem at all.?????

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011I never said it made the entire external card to an internal memory, I do not want that. No, just your 1st post implied this, sorry.

What you now have on Oxygen is the standard Froyo A2SD. Not all apps can be moved, only those that support this from the dev. Also not all the app is moved only part of it, some has to stay in internal memory.

With a partition and EXT 2/3/4 all apps and widgets can be on the card, so if I was you i'd still apply a partition and use the A2SD+ route to help save space.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011Isn't that just the standard Froyo Apps to SD? Not the same as A2SD+, also this won't work ... moreI do not know exactly how it works, but I have never ever before been able to install this many apps on my Desire.
Why mention "Implemeted ability to move any app to SD-FAT via applications menu" in the changelog if it is nothing new, "is just implementing Froyo Apps 2 SD", and why is it so very much better at moving apps and letting me install so very many more apps than Froyo Apps 2 SD?

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011Changelog v2.0-RC5 "Implemeted ability to move any app to SD-FAT via applications menu"Have re read Adam's thread and I'm convinced this is just implementing Froyo Apps 2 SD.

It doesn't make the entire SD card internal memory, if it did you would loose everything each time you did a wipe to flash a new Rom.

This isn't anything special. A2SD+ which this supports via EXT2/3 or 4 is what you want.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011Latest Oxygen!* With this update, I would like to recommend that people who intend *
* to use Oxygen as their main ROM use the AlphaRev Oxygen HBOOT, *
* this is a customized HBOOT specifically for Oxygen and features a *
* massive /data partition, allowing you to install even more apps *
* than previously possible. Head on over to http://alpharev.nl to *
* download it and instructions on how to install it.

So it does create a partition (albeit larger) if you use AlphaRev rather than ClockWorkMod

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011With latset Desire I can use my external sd-card with normal fat 32, no need for ext4...Really!!!!

So the entire card becomes internal memory?????

How do you seperate the data to wipe then when you flash new roms? wouldn't want the entire card being wiped.

v2.0 RC5 states it supports Legacy A2SD with support for EXT2/3/4

It was more down to the look and feel than the functionality as Defrost also does everything you mentioned.

May give Sense 2.0 a spin this week (as it's now been ported), got to luv a rooted desire.

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011Ran Gingerbread (Oxygen ROM) on my desire last week, really didn't like it so went back to DeF... moreI, yesterday, installed latest Oxygen witj Android 2.3.1 and the best thing is that it does not have any problems with keeping a stable 3G-connection anymore, and I now can install all apps that I want because of thr new improved way that apps can be moved to the external sd-card.
I have both Galaxy S and Desire, and until now Galaxys S have been the best but now that the latest Oxygen fixes the problem with the small internal memory for installing apps Desire now is far better than Galaxys S. I can play Nova and Need for Speed Shift and any and many gamez on my Desire with Oxygen.
