Hahax...I am unsure of all these IT things so really didn't care much about it, so it wasn't a big problem to me. Thanks a lot for teaching me all these "static ip address' stuffs! :)

Everything about it is great except for the battery life. Last only around 4-5 hours for intensive use on a single charge. Otherwise is a perfect phone.
Avesh, 03 Jan 2011Nokia is doesn't compare with this phone, desire is awesome...way far awesome!!! miles apart to be exact!!!
crabby, 03 Jan 2011what's "use static ip address"?An IP address that you allocate to your phone yourself
Wireless routers can be set to send them to devices or you can allow devices to gain them automatically.
Auto address are usually
192.168.1.7 or 192.168.1.8
A static can be anything but generally uses the range
10.10.10.2 or 10.20.30.3 or whatever
Static is when you allocate the ip address yourself based on a range of address's that you are using for your network or whatever.
The phone (desire) does connect but it seems to also have its moments as i described and comparing it to the other phones in this day in age it ain't acceptable either Android OS patch it off or htc sort out the settings.
A truly awful phone that gets stuck in an infinite loop of scanning for wifi coupled with not accepting or processing the setting USE STATIC IP ADDRESS which used in combination with the wireless network the phone is attempting to connect to results in a tradegy of horror and terror that culminates in me running for my galaxy S and IPhone 4 which connect to any wifi networks flawlessly.
HTC Have To Connect NOT to a wireless Network near YOU
Hey all desire owners.
I just got my desire about a month ago. Up til now I love everything about it. The only two downside are the crappy battery life and the fact that you can only save limited apps onto the low internal memory. I read about rooting the device but I can't do it from here.
So is there any way I can save apps to my SD card without rooting? Android market is blocked where I am. Any help or links to apps are highly appreciated.
Asap plz. Thanks

Also, I think that the most important OS for the Desire is Froyo, and for Gingerbread, not so much.
I rather have HTC fix all the issues on the Desire than giving us Gingerbread with more bugs.
HTC still needs to fix on Text Messaging timestamp issue as well as dialing glitch.
Shahab, 31 Dec 2010How can i find an AMOLED HTC Desire? SLCD is too waek! Well you can get AMOLED GSM version of Desire through another third party store. Or you can order it Online.
But let me tell you this, AMOLED is crystal-organic technology, it may display much more vivid than LCD, the life span isn't very long.
Personally, I think SLCD looks pretty good on the phone because of the WVGA resolution. Although AMOLED is a bit brighter.
I have had my desire for a couple of days now, i purchased it from the carphone warehouse and got it in white and its ACE. Do not hesitate its bloody ace, better than sony etc, htc isn't common haha
Maximus, 31 Dec 2010Fantastic phone.Nokia is dead.wow, Nokia is still popular
