This is what I’ve noticed that is common on most forums and threads about the reboot problems:
-Starts around 2 months after use
-Reboots get worse over time
-Firmware and android version doesn’t matter which you have
-force apps2sd doesn’t matter if you use it or not
-PVT1 or 3 or whatever doesn’t matter
-Screen type, doesn't matter if you have AMOLED or SLCD (so far as i know)
-There seems to be an antenna/radio/simcard issue also
-overheating causes reboots too
-Reboot is not always temp related
-sd card size doesn’t seem to matter
-having apps on sd or not doesn’t matter
-size of files on sd doesn’t matter
-rooted or not doesn’t matter
-seems like motherboard changed after repair doesn't help now either
-simlocked or not doesn't matter
-provider doesn't matter(vodafone, kpn/hi, T-mobile etc all got it)
-seems to be hardware issue, but as we all know software can greatly affect hardware so it can go either way.
-restarting doesn't fix it
-factory resetting doesn't fix it (wish HTC would stop asking if we did this! -.-)
-changing battery didn't fix it
-using app killers or shutting down some services yourself doesn't help
-leaving all settings on default doesn't fix it
-all phones with s/n HT03 to HT07 can get this problem
I have same problem.....dont buy this phone..!

David, 28 Oct 2010hey kate it's David from Australia here...i'm not sure if anyone has responded to ur problem y... morehuh,,,,, not even that hard... go to settings/ about phone/ check for updates .... if its available it will pop up and your good to go.
also..... the update doesnt clear anything, pics, music, contacts...etc remain untouched.
I have recently brought a HTC Desire as a replacement for my nokia N82, wow was I disappointed, and have since returned to using my N82, that is an amazing phone. I found the Desire to be unusable in sunlight and the N82 is easier to manage, too many widgets and alike chewing battery in the desire.
Lucky for me got the desire on a $0 plan so haven't lost out and can use the sim from the new plan in my N82 with its large included download.
Kate, 24 Sep 2010Hi ... can anyone help me please? I got my Desire last week and it asked if I wanted to upgrad... morehey kate it's David from Australia here...i'm not sure if anyone has responded to ur problem yet & i cant be bothered looking lol and or if u have already figured out how to get the new software update...it pretty simple just go onto htc.com & u'll most likely be able to download it from there & also make sure it's the right version for ur mobile service provider...all it will ask u to do is have 150MB of free space on ur phone (not memory card) and also ask u to get the serial number from ur handset under the battery...just letting u know that the upgrade will clear everything off ur phone like contacts, pics, tones/music, texts etc...so pretty much all ur phone data...i was just about to upgrade mine today but after findin out it'll clear everything i decided not to...it's a shame too because i was looking forward to upgrading & according to a cnet australia article posted yesterday on the 27th of october (keep in mind australia is a day ahead lol) it said it had just been released here!...wish it was released earlier before i had so much on my phone...i cant even move files to my memory card either coz thats on the new update lol...anyway if u have upgraded already then just disregard this reply but if not upgraded yet then hope it helped u [=
How do I upgrade my desire OS from 2.1(Eclair) to 2.2((Froyo).I need to do that.

MFK, 27 Oct 2010So far i havn;t had any connection loss problems.. its wroking fine... before i had htc touch ... moreThis is a big problem that many users have, but because the 3G-reciever only goes to sleep for a minute or two most users blame bad connection instead of their phone. IPhone4 have dropped calls, but Desire haave dropped 3G-connections.
I will never buy a HTC phone again. HTC Desire is unable to keep a stable 3G-connection, and according to the review at TechRadar http://www.techradar.com/revie...ew?artc_pg=9 they still have not fixed this fatal problem on Desire HD and it will most likely be the same fatal problem on Desire Z. HTC suck!
"We had a few issues with data connection though - on some occasions the phone would look like it has full signal but then you'd realise that those bars wouldn't change and you can't get any data - it was actually frozen, and we have no idea why."
