Obviously something went wrong during the upgrading (perhaps connection cut off halfway etc), but I believe there is no way that you can downgrade it back to 2.1. Not even a factory reset will help. Try to write in an email to HTC, and ask them about it.

I had Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire, and iPhone 4. The Desire I had no problem with it and worked great and fine except the screen was not as nice and sharp as Galaxy But i hear from some that Desire has problem with 3G.
The Galaxy Screen looked great but was build from cheap plastic and had so many problem with phone such as lagging, slow, freezing and reseting very often. So, I sold the phone and bought Blackberry 9800 which i have no problem with.
So I owen iPhone 4 and BB 9800 and I am totally happy with.

FM-radio is still mono, but a perfekt mono-signal is actually better than the rather week stereo-signal on Desire. HTC have not even tried to fix their software problem wich makes it impossible for Desire to keep a stable 3G connection so users have to abandon HTC Sence and the FM-radio to install OpenDesire if they want a stable 3G-connection. I think the s-lcd screen is much better than the Super-Amoled on Galaxy S because text... is always a little bit "out of fokus" and the pictures and movies are definetly not as sharp as on the s-lcd and movies are always a little bit to "unfocused" as if my eyes were full of tears
m1l4d, 15 Sep 2010Yeah sure, SE fanboy.i am an SE fanboy and also an htc fanboy n specially htc desire n i have used both phones :)

They have the same speed based on specs. Some may say that Desire is slightly faster. Some even say Galaxy S is very laggy.
Galaxy S has a bigger and more beautiful screen. The colours are more appealing.
Desire is slightly more pocketable, and still possible for one-hand use. It is rather impossible for a comfortable one-hand use for Galaxy S, for average hand size.
Desire has camera flash, which may come in handy if you often hang out with your friends and likes to take casual shots.
Galaxy S, however, can produce slightly better image quality in the day.
Desire has HTC Sense, which is arguably the best UI in the market now. It is very powerful, yet user-friendly.
Desire has a louder speakerphone, so talking on phone is a pleasure experience. In fact, according to GSM Arena's review, Desire's speakerphone is rated Excellent while Galaxy S is rated Below Average.
Galaxy S has a bigger internal memory.
[deleted post]both are very good mobile phones but i think xperia x10 is a better phone with its multimedia capabilities
