one more reason for not going for desire rightnow is the new technology they are using i.e. S-LCD instead of AMOLED which was way better ... so shud i wait for desire hd instead??
anyone pls help! i was about to buy desire but when heard about desire hd..i stopped myself till september end... can anyone pls tel me if waiting for desire hd is worth?

I thought they are both equally spec-ed? Desire exchanged a big screen for more "pocketability".

ATM this is the closest thing to the perfect phone on the market

all this in a smaller, better built, cheaper phone...
anything over 120 in length is just way to big for a mobile phone imo...plus the galaxy s plastic build feels like your holding a $100 phone in your hand

Maybe in screen tech, but samsung does not install a led notification on any of it phones, I have missed so many important messages & phone calles in the past because of Samsung.
& there is no LED flash on the samsung, WHY,, silly samsung. if there to where on the galaxy I would have bought that instead of the Desire.
I heard there's a online warranty registration.
Is it true?
If yes, I'm at Singapore, and how do I go about registering online. I browsed through the HTC website, but have yet to find anywhere where I can register anything.
i just bought this phone. and it is briliant. i bought it outright, and cost me just under $800 - but well worth it. it is absoutley brillioant!
Samsung Galaxy S will be always better than HTC Desire...that's why Desire will never pass the 8.650 result (while I'm here to supervise the voting process). Next step: below 8.600 hehe almost here...:D
1-1-1 per day will be enough hehehe
The small battery is a big problem with Desire. Galaxy S forgot a led-flash and is a little bit to big, although lightweight, for easy onehand handling, but Desire would be an almost perfect phone if it had a bigger battery. Why make a phone that can surf on Internet with flash 10,1 and edit office- documents, I have Mobisystems OfficeSuite, and listen to LastFm, I live in Sweden so I use a version found on LastFm-"forum", but provide a so small battery that I can not use all these featuers for more than a very few hours?
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2010this is ridiculously expensiveI disagree too
In my country, this is the cheapest amongst hi-end Android device. Compared to X10 and Galaxy S.
If money was an issue, i wouldn't blame you if you've thought Desire is expensive :)
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2010this is ridiculously expensiveI disagree. HTC Desire is cheaper than other high-end phones, like Samsung Galaxy S or SE X10.
It is a good value for money.
I got this phone for almost a month and wow!!! Flashed it with LEEDROIDS custom 2.2 Froyo over at xda developers and all is working fine! Very Fast, Loads of cool apps my Fav is vnc awesome for work purposes! I had the samsung omnia in 2007 and after that didnt really like touch screen phones but when i saw this i was blown away! to all the haters go fly a kite!!!
Hi someone who has got the froyo update, pls upload the zip file for others so tht v can also update to android 2.2. Pls be generous n help others also bye
I have had a desire since April and there has been some painful experiences with handset namely the fact that I was taking the back cover of 3 times a day because it would freeze and I couldn't turn it off using the power button. Which to be honest made me feel that I should throw it in the bin that coupled with the fact it was my second hanset the first desire chewed my ed card and overheated and couldn't turn on.
Well 2 weeks ago I got my Froyo update and its like I am using another phone no freezing and I haven't had to turn it off for freezing. It just is very stable and things are tuning smooth. So for me its like a new phone. The only pain is that the battery life has not got better. I am liking Htc again but to be honest I will have to think twice about then when I get my upgrade next March.
Anonymous, 24 Aug 2010If you want a larger phone, go for the galaxy, if you want a sleeker one with sense ui go for ... moreive owned like over 10 high end phones in the last maybe 3 yrs... im soo happy with the desire. closest thing to the perfect phone IMO ive used.
was thinking glaxay S at one point but just to large for me and cheap plastic build didnt do it for me.
if the SE x10 had/ or when it gets its update to 2.1 it would prob be my next choice after the desire
im my opinion desire 100%
