Bought a Desire yesterday after owning a Windoze for several years. I have some adjusting to do, but the Desire seems OK at this stage. I've set it up for synching with the laptop. Default sync is only calendar and contacts, and now I find I can't copy my MS Outlook email folders across and synch those too (as I did with MS Active Sync). Does anyone know of a 3rd party application that will allow me to sync my email folders with the laptop - without going online?

What about the new phone that I have bought then? It would be useless to me as if I did not use a sim of the same company right. So if Orange/T Mobile/Vodafone or whoever unlocked it for me after a while I could use that phone anywhere in the world?

HTC has stated that Froyo will come in Q3 for Desire. They also said that all the current HTC Android phones, that are subject to the upgrade, will get Froyo by the Xmas.
Gingerbread is expected to be announced in October, but there is no indication that Desire will get it by Xmas.
We know that good things are coming for Desire...

HTC Desire is quite similar but i'd wait for the next Android phone from HTC. I think you should get the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 that phone is excellent!
i had a doubt. if i buy this on contract here in the uk can i use the sim that comes with it in another unlocked phone of mine? and my network provider would unlock the desire for me after a month or two right?

The version of Android AFTER 'Froyo' is codenamed 'Gingerbread', which should be with us by Xmas.
So as for the original question, when is the next upgrade; nobody knows exactly, but hopefully a lot sooner than Xmas.
i hope the update comes before christmas im hoping to have a better phone by then would be nice to have 2.2 well before then........
Guys, I have never been satisfied with any mobile I ever owned, there always seemed to be a fundamental flaw in it, but this phone kills it all. I am in Love. This phone is perfect in all respects, yes the imaging could have been better, but otherwise its perfect. A great investment.....
Well...... i got my new HTC Desire today, played with it for 4 hours and i hate it!
the colours on the screen look un-natural, slightly orange, and the speaker on it distorts when at full volume while making calls and also listening to Music or YouTube, text on the AMOLED screen looks amazing, but i have just sent it back to 02 here in the UK, i`ll wait for something else, very dissapointed!
my 3GS i`m sorry to say is just better, sorry! i dont want the iPhone 4 because of all its problems, reception signal issues, proximity sensor etc etc
