I own the X10 for 2weeks now, was considering buying the desire earlier, i've been selling both des h/s for a network provider in UK so have used both of dem.
Sense UI on both the h/s's works perfect , its just the HTC desire has an upper hand with the andriod 2.1 as compared to the 1.6 in X10 , 2.1 gives the benifit for multitouch and 16million color res. for which Desire has a AMOLED screen ... X10 has a TFT , desire is one of the h/s which has a lot of demand in the market definately coz the features the h/s offers ... HTC has launched a h/s with the latest Android OS and a really good screen but standard CAMERA, the only thing they did not change is their standard hardware (BATTERY) if u manf. a latest h/s with all features you need to do a bit of R&D on ur hardware as well.. so as for people who say they own a camera and do not need one think abt it you dont carry your Cam every where you go, you need to have a power packed device with everything in it (Esplly when ur payin a huge amt.), i might say i have a laptop for internet i dont need Andriod den m a wrong , i need everything in my phone and i want my phone to work atleast for a day 16hrs which the HTC fails to do, ( If you say ur gonna buy a spare battery u cant keep swaping your battery as the back cover for the HTC is too delicate trust me you wont bother opening it even once in a week) one more thing abt HTC once they come up with a new device they have no support for thier earlier one.. same happened with HERO owners you feel you have an outdated device
THE WORST DRAWBACK IS 512 Mb internal memory on the DESIRE when you have android 2.1 and 1ghz processor your bound to install a lotta apps and you cant do that with the 512mb Internal memory, on Android 1.6 and 2.1 ur apps will work on your internal memory this will not be the case with andriod 2.2 but as i said HTC will not offer an upgrade to andriod 2.2 rather they will launch a new h/s thats their marketting strategy.. the X10 has 1GB internal which is suitable for my application usage
MISSING on X10:
Android 2.1 (October 2010 Andriod 2.1 u/g is available for the X10)
8MP cam with 30 FPS ( did not expect the video to be gr8 but trust me itsss Awesome)
1GHZ is suitable for the Andriod 1.6
Batter life 16 hrs
[deleted post]iphone is the past, welcome to the future "android",by the way app's for android are doubling by the minute and soon they will surpass iphone's app's store, see the amount of android's phones from every manufacturer is increasing and that makes steve jobs can't sleep at night, and now there is double boot of android on the iphone, that shows that everybody is beginning to go for android..(preferring)and man look what is going on in apple, they are losing their prototype everyday(I think this is a different strategy of marketing iphone for free)..tq
The best in it's price range...
One of the many "living" proofs that iCrap is completely overpriced!!!!
"iHate Steve Jobs"

Slim enough to fit into your wallet :)
Solution 2 : Buy a nokia1100.. battery life last for a week... built in LED torch and FM Radio... (FM Radio should be available within the next few years for some iCrap product... 5th... 6th gen upgrade?)

I agree with you that desire ir the best phone at the market right now, but battery life is really poor. Maybe you don't have this phone, or jus talking whatever you like..
[deleted post]just go for Desire,it is the best at the moment, and most of the bad and deceptive comments of the battery and the speakers are from those guys who really don't have the Desire, they are from the X10 forum to cause havoc to the real interested buyer from owning the better phone.
I have had my Desire for about 10 days now. I have to say that it is probably the best phone I have ever used/owned(and I have owned more than a few!)
it is easy to use has everything you could possibly need and the screen is fantastic. To those that are suffering with poor battery life I sympathize but remember that the battery is powering a big screen and this takes juice!. My advice is not to have many Apps running at the same time and also ensure that you have the WiFi and Bluetooth turned off if you are not using them. yes the speaker isn't great for listening to music but what's wrong with plugging in some external speakers or using good quality earphones? I have downloaded a few Apps and these work well. Is it better than the current I-phone? yes it most certainly is and my friends who have been waving Their I-phones around since they got them have now stopped now they have seen the desire. Well done HTC this has to be the best phone on the market at the price. There is nothing I can fault it on.My advice buy one don't go for the I-phone you'll be glad you didn't!
I've had this phone now for about two weeks and I must say its BRILLIANT... except for two real downers: the battery life and the speaker. The battery life is just HORRIBLE, lasting maybe one day in normal use and the speakers are really crappy. Except for those things and few minor weird things in the phone book, it's awesome! ;)
Anonymous, 17 May 2010I just wanted to enquire about the deal im getting on this phone, 3 network uk offered me 900m... moreyes look at orange. deals same wow phone, but better 3G signal in uk, and a better customer service.just a thought.
loving the desire after having the iphone. just one drawback the BACK COVER!!!!!!!!! such a pain to remove the SIM and memory card. They should have an extra back cover with the phone. im sure to break mine if opened once more.
I have my htc Desire now and i think it's really great when you look at screen function and reaction of the touchscreen.
It's very good, and the phone is very fast in responding on what you do with it.
But battery life is poor, but i think i'm going to buy a second battery so i can travel and use the internet :)
But I have a question for you guys, so i hope you can help me.
1. Can you install the apps on the SD card? Because i can never choose where i want to install things? Hope you guys can help me with this!! (because i don't want to put everything on the internal memory)
I just thought I would give my own honest opinion on this phone.
Its probably the best phone I have ever had in terms of functions and screen quality. This phone has every extra you could ever think of and more.
I just wish HTC had not used such a poor budget speaker as it really is shocking poor.
My other couple of issues are the video qulaity, although they claim WVGA, its not the best quality and when you autofocus on something it locks onto that subject constant making anything else blurr if moving away.
Also the quality of the microphone for recording videos is probably the worst I have ever experienced on a mobile phone and this really lets this phone down bit time, extremely cheap sounding.
My last issue is and probably my main problem is when your on a phone call the other party can hear you loud and clear but at my end there is a constant hissing noise and its not a faulty speaker because if you plug in headphones its still identical.
These are not just one off faults as I am now on my 4th Desire.
