Htc phones always get very high ratings. Maybe it's a good phone. But truth be told, i haven't met any one with an Htc. Everyone has either nokia, samsung or sony ericsson.
People you are way off topic, this are comments for Desire if someone forgot.
Spawner, 24 Feb 2010Oh come oh. you are comparing iphone to this one? The phone that cant even forward a files to... morei agree with u that ipod touch is better choice than iphone for whom they need its useful applications...but if your problem with the iphone is what u just wrote then i suggest you to buy a symbian phone or a windows mobile phone so you can get what need in addition to applications and games which android still does not have, also you will get a video call camera........but of course u r free to choose the phone u like....
Anonymous, 23 Feb 2010i disagree with u ,and u will discover that by yourself after this phone become available....... moreOh come oh. you are comparing iphone to this one?
The phone that cant even forward a files to bluetooth?
The phone that is a iTune dependent?
Nexus One already killed the iphone. much more the desire LOL..
And if you are more on games then go buy yourself a PSP...
I have an iphone And im just using it for The applications i downloaded
and i wish i could have just bought an ipod touch and i am disappointed..
my advise for those who are planning to buy an iphone.. just go buy an ipod touch... it can do almost what the iphone can do with 3x cut the price..
Why no voice activated dialling via blue tooth headset? Most business users make/receive calls whilst driving, it's illegal to hold a phone while driving.
Apparently HTC gave some feedback about text2speech and it's not good news:
Dear HTC Customer,
Thank you for contacting Technical Support Center.
HTC desire does not support speach recognition to text.
Please change the specs as per the htc website...
'http://www.htc.com/www/product/desire/specification.html'...there are lot of features missing here like face-detection ang Geotagging on camera...GPRS and EDGE speed...some special features....but unfortunately no information on Divx support :(

Speech to text may work better with dual microphone (primary in crowded areas) but it works with single mic too. This discussion is a bit off place cause neither of us can't prove presence/absence of speech2text on Desire so it's maybe better to wait first reviews. I just can't believe that mic icon exists with no purpose of it.

You can find virtual keyboard look in several hands-on videos, this is just the first one that I came across.
Cant wait to get my hands on this phone. Looks better than google nexus one

V... moreNo voice2text feature in HTC Desire... Reasons i explained in other discussion already:
I was searching around the net about this issue… V2T is application which utilizes Google services. Some services are exlusive only to phones which are stated as “Google Experience” device. V2T is also limited only to Google Experience phones, which is e.g. Nexus One but Desire doesnt belong to them…
If you want to search net for that, you may start here: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/pi.....phone.html and further explanation here: http://www.sprintusers.com/for.....p?t=193168
Can anyone please confirm if the Desire will come with such nexus one software features as:
Voice to text for any text input field
Google maps with navigation
Google mail sync for mail
Thanks in advance. I am really split between the two phones, in terms of design I prefer the desire, (as I know the touch keys have been a little troublesome on the nexus), and overall itnlooks just a little better to me. Plus the tiny bit extra RAM.
BUT I would really want features such as Voice to text, Navigation, Google mail sync. Now I know the Sence UI has been hacked already and someone is running it on a nexus, so just wondering if its been done the other ways around and people run Voice to text, ect on the Desire
So I'm due an upgrade next month and I'm not sure which one to get, Desire looks amazing but I did have a Hero and the UI wasn't very good imo.
The only reason why I'm not sure wether to get the Nexus is it has a trackball and as I'm a longtime BlackBerry user I have grown to hate these trackballs and from what I can see the Desire has opticalpad?
It looks like a fantastic new handset from the smartphone powerhouse HTC !! but ...it would have been unbeatable,if they had made it in the design of the HD2 with a Samsung 4.3 Super Amoled Capacitive screen & 8 mpix camera. I reckon if they had done these 2 changes it would have been a world wide hit comparable to the apple iPhone !! as it stands it's still one of the best upcoming releases and definetly on my upgrade shortlist.

But let's be honest. They are both terrific phones. I'm waiting for this to be released, then I'll decide between the Desire and the Nexus One :)
Can't wait for this to be released!!
Its the Nexus One in a HTC jacket lol
They got their own sense UI and added a few other tweaks but 99% the same as the nexus one
As for apps on the phone you can probs fit around 50 - 100 depending on the size, some games take up about 10mbs+ andother apps like SatNavs take up even more.
To get around the apps problem, jump on down to xda-developers.com for basic knowledge on hacking these babies and installing Apps 2 SD :) sorts everything out ;)
But hands down the Nexus One beats this as the sense ui kinda sucks, plus the guys over at xda-developers are porting the best features from this over to the nexus one anywayz :P
