Hi can anybody assist, i have been using my HTC for some 4 months, at times it just switches off & restarts even in the middle of a conversation.....anybody experienced this before??
i just want to share this info, coz lately im kind of bored with the Htc Sense UI, and i feel like i want to change it for sometime to have a different user experience.
Turning your htc desire into windows phone 7 UI..
1. Download these apps from the market...
a.Launcher 7(Fantastic homescreen!)
b.Home switcher for froyo
c.wp clock light
d.go sms pro (by far, the nearest wp7 sms looks)
e.A.I.type Keyboard Beta
2.First, HOME SCREEN ----well basically you'll only be able to make the launcher 7 homescreen your default using the home switcher (if you wont, htc sense will still be the ones activating whenever you press the hardware home key). u can check its help instructions for a detailed guide.
3.Second, KEYBOARD ---turn on the AI.type keyboard by going to Settings>Language and Keyboard..
after turning on go to AI.type Keyboard settings and tap on Keyboard Theme.. pick Windows Phone 7...
4.Third, SMS ---in this part, actually u wont be able to clone the exact wp7 sms interface, but u can make it a fraternal brother... (and for me its better cos apart from better looking, it shows the contact pic).
go to the Go sms appearance settings and tweak on the colors of the conversation appearance and lists.. the wp 7 sms colors are black background, blue incoming speech bubble, white outgoing... but ill be suggesting you to have it at
Dark Gray background,
Incoming bubble (0=red, 156=green, 255=blue)
Outgoing bubble (137=red, 255=green, 129=blue)
**dont forget to change the font colors to white***
the shades of colors in this setting looks better and legible enough.
5.Last, LIVE WALLPAPER --- this wallpaper really looks great. go to live wallpapers, its there, just set it as ur wallpaper. if it still doesnt show go to your wp7 homescreen, press hardware menu key, go to launcher7 settings>background color>turn on system wallpaper...
im alternating this wp clock light live wallpaper and htc sense live wallpaper (feels like an htc wp7 phone)
Tadaa! now you have a windows phone 7 interface.. i am open for any app suggestions to add more wp7 feeling in my desire..
im just doing this coz i want to "miss" Htc Sense UI... hehehe...
PS. try the Contapps contact app, doesnt feel like wp7 but is a great looking alternative to native htc phonebook.
i have heard that htc phones can not be repaired in Pakistan ....... Is that true???
hey guys i just upgraded my desire to 2.3.3 .. but unfortunately the arabic language was lost .. any body can help ?
Jameel Hussain, 29 Aug 2011Please people- Please dont buy this phone or for any matter any HTC phone! HTC sucks! They are... morehey jameel I m sorry for ur loss. But u had 2 faulty products that doesn't mean HTC sucks. I m using my HTC DESIRE for the last one year without a single problem and I don't even think to replace it with others becoz its still the tough competitor for any new high end phones. I dropped the phone for several times but not a single problem occurs. As I like to experience different features I have installed almost all developers OS and currently I m using official gingerbread OS. After such rough and tough use its still smooth like new. Plz readers keep faith on HTC and u can buy it without thinking twice becoz HTC DESIRE rocks and I promise u won't regret.
I have just upgraded my desire to 2.3.3 and found it very efficient. Battery life has increased and most important of all, no body in this forum has pointed out, it has now capable of wifi with b,g and n also, which was deficit in 2.2 version(only band g). I think that there are some useless programs still in this version which can be removed to reduce the update size. Over all and excellent phone which meets the current standards of mobile phones.
With the line-up and prices of phones coming out, i don't see myself upgrading.. my htc desire can still keep up with the newer phones out there.. got tired of my capdase leather case, returned to my original silicon case so i could "see" the phone.. what a beauty!
[deleted post]dude most searched or most interest dosent mean its a popular thing always....everyday people like me search and want know or just click to see many phones....so it dose not mean that htc desire is not one the most sold phone of the year............i got desire and europa it dosent mean i dont like iphone or nokia, but u provide a good info....thanks
My desire was running on Gengerbread 2.3.1. From yesterday It was not switching on. After power on only the Oxygen diplayes but the OS is not booting up as well as phone is not working indeed....!! Any possible solution???
Jameel Hussain, 29 Aug 2011Please people- Please dont buy this phone or for any matter any HTC phone! HTC sucks! They are... moreI admit that you were extremely unlucky with two faulty units, but there are millions of customers who are happy with their HTC phones.
"They are the worst phone makers in this world right now. I have had a really bad experience using HTC phone." Just because YOU had a really bad experience doesn't make anybody the worst anything in the world.
"DIE HTC DIE!!" Yes this is the kind of argumented discussion that will make everybody believe you when you say "u have been warned".
I understand that the situation made you angry, but do not think that you are "doing a work of humanity" with your post. You are just venting off.
Please people- Please dont buy this phone or for any matter any HTC phone! HTC sucks! They are the worst phone makers in this world right now. I have had a really bad experience using HTC phone. First I bought HTC Desire and within a month of purchase it had the overheating reboot problem. After much effort with HTC service, they finally agreed to give me a replacement with HTC Desire S. Now I was using a brand new HTC Desire S and after less than a month usage today it got another problem which is that the phone internal speaker has stopped working.. I really hate HTC for doing this to me.. Please please I am doing a work of humanity here.. DONT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER HTC PHONE and if you still chose to buy beware that u have been warned...!! DIE HTC DIE!!
Anonymous, 28 Aug 2011please help as i have mine for about 7 months now and i cannot use it for more than 5-10 minut... morehi there, yes u can hate ur phone but dont hate htc desire, whats about before this months when u use it i mean when it was new?did u try to upgrade it or find out whats the problem....??
for ur help if u dont find anything do 1 thing backup ur device(by using usb and also sync it)then do a hard reset(u will find it in settings>sd & phone memo>factory data reset)remember everything u downloaded,ur contacts,sms...will be delelted and then u will gat a almost new ph again, the battery should get fell newer and try only install those apps u need,u can get a app manager or task killer to avoid battery draining by unused apps, then fully discharge the battery once(0%)then charge it full, hopefully u will get a better performance, and check ur battery isnt damaged already!thanks
please help as i have mine for about 7 months now and i cannot use it for more than 5-10 minutes doing basic stuff like internet as the phone keeps rebooting about 6-7 times continously, why is this? i hate this phone now as the battery dont seem to be a problem the phone just shuts down like its crazy...anyone having the same problem.
Root, 22 Aug 2011I just switched from Samsung Galaxy Mini to HTC Desire, and a couple of questions -
1. No in... morehi...
im a desire user for 6months now. and im still loving my phone. il try to answer ur question based on my personal opinion..
1.theres no built in task manager in desire cos i,personally, think that it is not a necessity when toggling between apps and functions. the desire do have a built in, should i say, Task Memory. just by holding the home key,8 of ur recently used app will be shown for u to access them again (not to kill them).
i believe task manager is not needed for desire is Intelligent enuf to manage which of ur apps should be turned off. 3rd party task managers are available but i dont personally use them... they'r, 4me, useless...
2.file managers...? hmm... why would you need 1 in desire? i actually downloaded a file managing app but i never used it. you would definitely place all ur files in ur mmc cos desire's memory isnt big. so i think using a file manager in a desire isnt relly needed..
3.launchers can be used by holding the home button in the home screen.. from there you'll be able to switch between home screens of ur preference. i previously downloaded and used for sometime a windows phone 7 launcher. it was great.. really feels like having wp7 home screen but the functionality of an android...
but now im back to the native sense... love its widgets..
raj, 21 Aug 2011How did u updated it to 2.3.3, plz tell me plz.?????????yes u can upgrade it (i think u already got the link) but if u r not a advance user(i mean if u dont need it coz u will not notice any major difference!)dont do it,coz its still developing...not the final release, thanks
