I upgraded from HTC Wilfire
I absolutely love this phone, HTC Desire 500 its fast, very fast. Descent sized screen and the quad core process makes it a dream to use. It looks big when you first handle it, but its incredibly light and theres just no lag in it at all.
Lots of space for pictures videos etc and the sound is just great esp with Beats Audio. comes with a dropbox a/c too so you can back every thing up. Very little bloat ware too. It has Android 4.2 which is really easy to use, Im a heavy app user and the battery has lasted 3 days so far, now down to a 1/4, but I have been using the speaker phone Radio (tune in) very clear no skipping or lag, looking and downloading from the Internet and android market.
There is also kids feature which gives you lots of kids things for all ages. Front and back cam, anda lot of software gadgets on board, like the infa red port to channel into a HD TV.
For me price wasnt too bad, retail it come in at 330 Euros (Malta) but I paid 99 Euros on a 20 Euro Contract for 2 years, small price to pay over here.
What I hate about the phone is the HTC Stock Rom, its ugly, mainly black and white, I installed Apex and made it colorful and put in a 30gb micro sd card. (upgradeable to 64)
Originally I wanted a Sam sung S4, because of the quad core but this was going to cost 600 Euros, the HTC One was 500 Euro, (all with 20 Euro Contract) so I waited and this phone (Desire 500) ticked all the boxes for me including price.
This is really a great phone, and with a few modifications (root), to get rid of Stock, This phone will be even better. Defiantly worth the money at a really reasonable price.
Once you get one of these big screens, you really cant go back to small screen phones.
Does anyone have user experience with his gadget? Any feedback to share? I'm specifically interested whether the front facing camera works with skype or not and more about other pros and cons.
is it possible to keep all time dual sim active even when another sim using by phone call, thanks in advance
Is it possible for GSMArena to do a review of this phone? It would be much aprreciated! Thank you so kindly in advance :)))
Do you know if it is possible to disable the invasive BlinkFeed (or at least to put it on a secondary desktop instead of the main desktop as in the HTC One)?
What about the (not-so-handsome) glossy back cover? Is it scratch-resistant? Isn't it too slippery? Is it anti-fingerprint?
And, again, what about the compass? In the specifcations, GsmArena mentions it has a compass. htc.com itself does not mention a compass!
What do you think about its Android version (4.1.2 - dated 09-oct-12 !!) Isn't it outdated? Can we expect an upgrade to 4.2.2?
With HTC Car (seems to be available on the Desire 500 as seen on some videos), does it provide voice dialling (offline)?
Are there limitations due to the only-two dedicated keys instead of the traditional three Android keys?
Except those potential issues, it seems a very nice phone.
Thank you in advance,

If I buy this phone in Russia, will it have international warranty? I am from Spain and I am in Moscow only for 2 weeks. Here it is a lot cheaper than the estimated price for the rest of Europe. Do you think I'll be able to set the system language to Spanish/English?

Thank you in advance!
