Search in Google for KitKat firmware to your phone model
Firmware file will be md5 file format. If download file in zip extract it .you will find md5 file .

Then switch of your phone and restart with download mode. ( most of model same time to press home +volume down+ power button till it comes to download mod
Then connect your phone to pc
In odin window you can see " added"
Next click AP or PDA option in odin window

My experience to don't buy for HTC Desire 816. It's having band selection issue which dont have an idea many of them. while checking this code (*#*#4636#*#* .....phone information...select radio band...no options available for local band selection) If u select USA band unfortunatly, ur slot-2 SIM will get no coverage and it will not retrive any more or any service centre by doing the factory reset / hardware changes etc., (mainly this model is failure) the option is only to get a replacement if u hv warrenty..even though get same issue persist for all. No support from HTC customer care & technical support team on this issue. Friends - please dont go for HTC phones anymore.!!! pls check the codes all android HTC mobile having same issue except HTC desire 820.

I've used this phone for 6months since January..few days ago I dropped my phone knee high and the display was gone..no cracks just no display..but phone vibrates and I'm still able to receive calls..I have no complaints with this phone other than the build quality..if you're going to buy this..use a good cover..
P.s Micro SD slot is pretty much useless

kumaran, yes it does get hot after prolonged use. Not to the melting point hot, but if its in your pocket & you are listening to podcasts or whatever, you'll know its there. Also, maybe its just me, but I think the speakers (the main selling point) are horrible. My old LG Volt would blow this away.

I was so excited to get this phone. I did all my comparisons and ultimately decided on HTC desire 816. 13mp camera, bass boost, 8gigs....isn't much but I have a 32g ad card. After downloading apps that are useful, no games or b.s. mind u, I don't have ANY space for anything important because of all the factory installed apps that I will NEVER use. I can't even perform the HTC updates. Besides that my camera SUCKS. I've tried to reset and it still sucks. I use eBay and I can't download it's app nor take quality pictures. Does anyone else know something I don't? Am I just not using it right?
