I use the phone for the following reasons mainly for calls and sending messages. In some aspects ....
I took videos (short clips)superb shots and transferred it to my computer eventually uploaded it to my FB.
I don't listen to music instead I use my IPOD Touch.
Never will I have my Bluetooth on in public places. This is to prevent from harbouring viruses from other phones. If necessary I'll have it on @ home where it is safe and when it's really needed.
I don't use Wi-Fi since I don't surf the net through my phone. I can wait till I get home and use my desktop computer.
GSM is enough to call and send/receive messages I don't need 3G.
All these aspects and the rest would help you to conserve your battery. Now if you are not happy of what it can do and can't do ... at the end of the day it's all up to you to decide which phone suited for your needs.
This is just a GUIDE ......
Goodluck!

Goodluck ... whatever phone you decided to buy.
Super phone. I used the battery for 48 hours and more before finally recharging it within 2 hours to full 100% charge. This phone needs to be tuned up initially, as you used it and recharge it for a week plus the phone gets better and better. The battery power actually improves. Talk time lasts longer. I talk for 1 hour plus and it only drain about 15% of of the battery. Played angry birds with it for an hour plus and it drains about 10% of the battery. The phone's battery lasts longer and longer as you use it. I formatted the battery once for 4 cycle of 5 - 10% battery to 100% full charge or till the indicator turns green. It really helps improve the battery life a lot. Have more patience, give your Desire HD more time. It's really a phone worth holding.

What the use of this great phone with great features if battery doesn't last for more then 4 hours
I have to recharge it many times a day!
Still I scare to use if for watching videos or surfing net as I might miss important calls due to low battery shutdown!

I don't know why people are complaining about battery too much .... I got my DHD about week ago and its battery is just fine. more than 24 hours. I charged the battery yesterday at 8:00 pm and until now ( next day 5:00 pm ) its more than 65 %. and i m using wifi a lot and location maps and regular phone/messaging. I m also using the live wallpaper ... what else u want from a big smart phone ?
Hi,
I bought desire HD last Saturday. the speaker volume level was toooooooooooooo low you cant hear the ring in the out side. and the multimedia volume was pathetic. From the second day got a problem that there was no ring tone and message tone .I ve been advised by htc call center to make a factory reset.I mede it the problem solved temporarily. after that in a day I am doing factory reset for at least three times, because the same problem is repeating. screen clarity is poor comparing with HD mini. So I suggest all of my friends not to select Desire HD
HDH memory not good at all. Downloaded applications and are not able to transfer to memory card. All on internal memory. Lagging on my phone.

Yes it is a nice phone and easy to use, I just can't hang around and wait for HTC to provide a better battery.
The company I bought it from happily allowed me to return it for a full refund, so I'm happy about that. Now just got to work out what I will get now.
Thanks
Craig
I got myself a desire hd few weeks ago and i am dead in love with it. i am SO happy i choose the DHD over samsung galaxy (i was torn between the 2 for weeks!). on the battery life, its a smartphone, so naturally the battery drains faster than normal phone.. even samsung galaxy faces the same problem.. but if your battery life span is really really bad, try downloading an app called Juice Defender. It will help prolong your better life span. Worked for me and it has also worked for other andriod phones. Good luck to you =)

AnonD-929, 06 Feb 2011Hi All,
The battery life on the Desire HD is really terrible. I kept it turned off and char... moreWe all aware of the battery issue. You are not alone. But what can we do? This is how the phone was being designed.
The only measures you can prolong the battery life are the following:
1) Disable the Mobile Data
2) Disable the Background Data
3) Disable Wi-Fi
4) Disable 3G instead use GSM
5) Disable Bluetooth
6) Avoid using Live Wallpaper
7) Use the phone for calls and sending messages
8) Refrain from listening music - use your IPOD instead.
9) Refrain from surfing the net - use your IPAD, Laptop or Desktop Computer.
10)Refrain from watching videos - use your portable dvd player.
You will have to do these sacrifices in order to prolong the battery. Until such time HTC will announce its upgraded battery in the market. Though they are aware of the issue I believe they are working on it.
I'm not trying to be biased, I'm not working with HTC but I'm just trying to help everyone in here who needs some help.
This is a great phone far better than IPHONE. So far, I have no issues with the phone and it works perfectly on me.
Be happy ... Goodluck!
