adrian, 11 Jun 2011is desire s better??Yes Desire S is better than HD despite smaller screen but S definately has a better pixel density so you get a clearer screen.

The 2.3.3 was the worst thing I ever done.I now have the most crappiest wi-fi I've ever had in a phone and 3/4 of my apps (both downloaded and stock) won't load from inside the main menu untill I pull the battery.works for a while then I gotta pull it again when I plug in the charger or want to re-open the same app again.battery drains twice as fast too.all this from an official update and after a hard reset.ill be in my back yard tonight for an official desireHD phone burning.you're all welcome gasoline suplied by me.

Put it in your pocket with the screen facing away from your body. This way it won't respond to a call as you take it out of your pocket.

The Android 2.3.3 has been officially released in SA by Leaf and your phone 'should' be able to update OTA. I'm using Vodacom. If your on MTN, Cell C, or Virgin and cannot update your DHD by using the software update function(menu - settings - About phone - software), phone Leaf support at 011 460 8000 or 0800 982773 to find out what is going on.
The update was about 70mb. Also take care to backup ALL your data + contact info before you update and make sure your battery is charged.

There is VERY little to no content lag in albums or videos. The DHD ships with a class 2 memory card which cannot dream to compete with any other devices' solid storage.

please tell us about dhd over all performance. must tell dhd web browser wo... moreThe webkit browser on the DHD on an Edge connection isn't bad at all. One of the fastest there is, which you can make faster using Opera Mini.
Just don't expect flash based websites or hi-res web pages to load quickly on anything other than WiFi or 3G. Opera Mini helps, but I won't put my money on it.

I'm using my phone on the Vodacom network.
It's funny you should ask about the DHD compared to the N8.
I got an N8 on contract for my girlfriend's daughter and must definately say that, the two phones are for two separate users.
If you are looking for a camera with phone functionality the N8 is the way to go. It takes astonishing photos and the DHD can't even dream of snapping photos like the N8 can. However, the DHD obliterates the N8 in overall speed. The internet browing experience on the DHD wipes the floor with the N8. General phone use is also much faster on the DHD.
It boils down to what kinda use you have in mind for your mobile. The N8 is a picture snapping dream and the DHD is powerful business communicator. Both phones can more or less do the same stuff. The N8 does things prettier but the DHD does it a hell-of-alot faster.

PS. HTC sense is available in South Africa. In fact, if your using an HTC phone in the gutters of Etheopia, chances are that its got Sense. HTC Sense is HTC device based, not location based.
