i also emailed the customer care in India. the reply was same as they want to give best experience to their customers with best software and hardware configuration. to add salt to my injuries, the customer care said that i phone desire s belongs to Hongkong. SO advised me to consult the hongkong customer care. what a rubbish.
Hrishie, 08 Dec 2011DS is priced between $420 to $450 ie Rs. 22000 approx in India... though Sony Ericsson Xperia ... morei wud pay th extra 4 the life long update of sense ui rather than the ugly os of s.e. which if u want it 2 luk gud u'd have 2 tweak it n so on...
Tanvir, 03 Dec 2011My Desire S battery last for 1 day only. and if i m connected with net OR take some snaps.. it... moreyes...stop checking facebook every 5 minutes. Most smartphones last a day only anyway.
i too contacted htc via chat and email. the email agent didnt seem to know anything about it. the chat agent seems to be washing his hands claiming htc have not yet made an official statement about the update. it seems like they are fooling all of us doing and saying different things. i also think that htc doesnt do their own customer service/technical support. the answers were too call center-like. seems the the call center is doing the support and htc seems like they do not support the call center itself.
For the OTA Update in the Phil. did talk to to one of HTC rep via chat and they did confirm that its starting to roll out and they are doing it via Batch Or packs basing on the phone's imei... so lets pray for faster seeding of update...
If you haven't got sense 3 yet and have an unbranded phone the update method discussed here worked for me http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/HTC-Desire-Series/HTC-Desire-S-OTA-update-to-Android-2-3-5-Sense-3/td-p/931229
rocji, 06 Dec 2011whats the price of desire s DS is priced between $420 to $450 ie Rs. 22000 approx in India... though Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo and Ray are way cheaper than this!
Anonymous, 07 Dec 2011HTC desire s or experia ray which is better.Xperia Ray is a good phone. Its even getting a ICS update in Jan 2012... But compared to HTC Desire S the hardware build quality is bad. But cam on Ray is better than DS.
Anonymous, 07 Dec 2011HTC desire s or experia ray which is better.I'm considering between these two too.. I think the Ray is probably slightly better on paper and here (in the UK) it's also slightly cheaper - I like the smaller size!
For the Desire S I think the screen's glass might be a bit better, I like that it has smart dialing (not sure why Ray doesn't) and I also like the sound of the Maps software that you get with it allowing you to download maps for whole countries to use offline.
I'm gonna go to a shop and see how they compare in the hand.
is it worth updating to 3.0? how come other users complain on the power button?
Pinoy, 05 Dec 2011Hey guys! I would just want to know, gsmarena says it runs android 2.3 with sense 3.0. I tough... moreu r right, sense 3.0 comes along with android 2.3.5 update. Out of the box there's sense 2.1 n Android 2.3.3. So I would suggest u to confirm about ur concern from the shop from where u r gonna buy the handset. If the handset is manufactured after the official update is released, its highly likely to ve the latest update out of the box but not entirely necessary as the update itself is not available worldwide. So confirm it first.
idhbar, 05 Dec 2011Hi..i am a fan of HTC.My present phone is wildfire s.I like to upgrade it to Desire s.Should i... moreDer r many good higher priced droids better than Desire s. But my suggestion would be to put ard 7k more in ur budget n opt for SGS2. Its the monster Droid on loose, check it out urself.
