1- make sure your main sim is inserted to the GSM slot. Had the same issue when tried to be funny. choose the main GSM sim as your preferred sim too.
2- no such issue with mine. guess make sure you close some of the unused apps.
BTW, those who complain about the "filkering" signs on the screen....check your Settings-Developer Settings, please un-tick all the selections there! Again tried to be funny then came all the "matrix" signs on top of the screen.
BTW2 - battery lasts 2 full days with average usage! Not bad for a smartphone i guess.

i already use this desire v for about 1 month. everything is fine except cannot use compass. is it due to no compass hardware? specification written in gsmarena got compass sensor. anybody can help? tq

Awesome phone, good battery backup...not dual active one sim at a time, hope the learn from these cheap Chinese phones on dual or triple Sims,very active.

A, 30 Aug 2012this is the most hopeless phone i have come across...a)sim switching does not function properl... moreyou may be hopeless,my set is working very well since june there is no prob like you in case of dual function. there may be some manufctre prob in ur set.you have to contact custmer servce instead of comnting wrong statemnt okey.lots of mid range handsets are followng htc now like lg,sony ,samsng etc.

Ali, 27 Aug 2012I am disappointed with the poor battery back up of my samsung galaxy ace duos SCH-I589 smart p... morethis is the most hopeless phone i have come across...a)sim switching does not function properly b) when call comes on other sim while you are talking on first sim ...after some time you will not be able to make call and you have to re-start ....this is a general problem ....my friend got the phone change but still problem exist .......this is because htc has first time introduced dual sim .....

its really good............ battery life is above average using all apps, music, net, and without changing factory settings......... feel is also like desire.. both sims work fine....... value for money... GO nd BUY.

if you don't find your answers there, you need go through the other related threads. Just be patient in reading, after you will be able to resolve all the problems.
I can't explain the procedure here is too long, but you can find different guides in the forum, just follow what other owners say to install the Rom you like. Cheers

How is the battery life when using GPRS and intenet?
Does applications hang? are you happy with the RAM.
