You're right about the "why Android" thing I mentioned. I've forgotten that many guys out there upgraded to Froyo on their HD2. In fact, I'm also interested to look into the change but I need to have a complete break from my work in order to have the focus, you know, the time require "if" I don't like it after the upgrade or "if" some problems crop up after the upgrade and I need to be there and settle it immediately. I need the HD2 for work purposes all the time except my bedtime. I kinda experienced with some problems before while playing with Windows Mobile 2002, 2003, WM5, WM6.1 so I knew I must be ready should I choose to change the OS to Android. Luckily, I don't use the phone part of my HD2 as I use my Motorola for conversations. As of now, I'm happy with the way my HD2 has been serving me, really made my friend jealous as I bought this HD2 from him 3 months after he bought it new. He thought he's getting rid of a problem machine, the "hanging" part of it was a problem for him and he's a first time smartphone user too. So I guess any smartphone will be a problem to him - he found it to be too complicated and guess what, he bought an Iphone 3GS from another friend's recommendation and also not too happy. He told me once he regretted selling the HD2 to me at 1/3 of his purchased price. After I bought it, I went to a PDA shop, paid the salesman 10 bucks to reinstall all apps and checked for ROM update after a hard reset. I suspected some unwanted third party softwares were causing the problems he encountered. With hard reset, updated ROM and the experienced salesman who "played" with various smartphones, he'll know for sure what kinda of problems are expected from different brands of phones and some of which are user inflicted. Now my HD2 is as solid as new and the best thing is it is still under warranty.
That saying, I've recently played with an LG smartphone with Windows Phone 7 OS, quite smooth and responsive but didn't like the interface. I might part with my HD2 next year for a better OS, maybe Android or WP7 which are my personal preference.
HTC HD2 is one of the best mobile I have used. We cannot expect better than this for a mobile device. U have pocket office packages which will be additional advantages in times. Moreover, the big screen 4.3" is worth seeing. It gives good look during surfing. The camera quality is also the best, if u r able to use it in good quality light. All i have to say is its a mini PC for anyone. However the battery life could have been a better. I give 9 out of 10 for this mobile...Enjoy the HTC sense.........

Stuart, 13 Dec 2010hello,
I've been using HD2 for about a year now, found it to be the best of all the Windows... moreregarding your comment "if you like iPhone or Android, you won't buy this phone".. I agreed if it's iPhone.. but Android? this monster here can also run android smoothly.. honestly, my quadrant score for running android is even better than SGS.. lol..
not to mention that we can use many different ports, from nexus one to the newest HTC sense from Desire HD..
this phone ROCKS!!
Stuart, 13 Dec 2010hello,
I've been using HD2 for about a year now, found it to be the best of all the Windows... moreI agree that the HD2 is still a very, very nice phone to buy (even without official WP7 update. Xda is working on a port of WP7 to the HD2).... Don't care much for WP7 in it's current state (blocks or tiles)... Right now I have WM and Android on my HD2 and LOVE it... Waiting for new Android OS v2.3... I use Android on a daily basis.... I like the dual boot option on my HD2.... The HD2 lets you try diff OS's on your phone before you buy....
My next phone will be Android (has HDMI out)... WM has DLNA (my tv doesn't have that built in)... Also looking at the Android Tablet's... Will buy an Android Tablet first..... Just waiting to see if new Android OS v2.3 will be put on the Android Tab's?????

If so take it back to TMO for repair and ask them for a loaner phone til yours is fixed... I know the unlocked HD2's from HTC comes with a 24 month warranty... I've had my HD2 for a year and a month now... Sometimes it gets warm (when I'm charging it)... Doesn't get to warm......
I buy only unlocked for better warrnty (sometimes)... I plan to keep my HD2 until the end of my warranty with them.... The HD2 is still one of the best around (even with the new phones that came out this year).... I don't think a WOW phone will be out until mid to end of 2011.....

also try cleaning the copper points on the inside of the battery cover. also the metal balls on the body of the phone that come in contact with the copper points.
this is how heat is transfered from the CPU to the air outside.

you have a US T-mobile version, with there crap ROM?
hack it and use a cooked ROM for that model, it may manage your CPU better, thus keeping the phone cool.
I hv had it for abt 1 yr bt 3mnths ago it began heatin up and it escalated to a state when it wont go past the pink screen..it keeps doin this all d time nad it wont work no more..u hv to take out d battery for sometime to cool down and then it will boot normally..its now useles..plannin on takin it back to d TMobile junkyard..
HTC lover, 13 Dec 2010Hi...
regarding my HD2, yupp.. it does make my battery hot & it worries me, it happens ... morei don't know where you live but it looks like you are having a CPU cooling problem.
if you install "cookie home tab V2" you can install "status indicator" and use "battery temp" to see how hot your battery is getting.(that way you will know if that is the problem or not.)
my normal temp is 34.5c
my battery stops taking any charge at about 45c
at that point i normaly unplug the phone and take off my gel case so the battery cover can get the needed air to cool the CPU & battery. (the metal cover is used as a heat sync for the phone.)
try to keep the cover away from direct sun light (like in a car) and don't use your 3G,EDGE,Wi-Fi,bluetooth or voice calls when you are plugged in, if the battery is already hot. charging and using wireless radios at the same time will only get it hotter, faster.
my phone has never restarted from heat, but i can see how that could happen. because it has stop taking charge from the car charger because of heat. and the LED would flash Orange & green to let me know that.
Anthony, 12 Dec 2010has it always been doing this?
is your battery cover "VERY HOT" when it happens?Hi...
regarding my HD2, yupp.. it does make my battery hot & it worries me, it happens everyday, sometime 2-3 times a day..
do you have any idea what sort of the causes? thanks :)
hohoho, 13 Dec 2010yea . how is the audio quality+camera and internet browsing .i also been using Windows mobile for many years and agree with everything Stuart said.
just want to add to it.
i find that once you leave more than 10% of internal storage free & update your ROM to 1.66 or newer, freezing never happens.
if your into music, you Going to have to buy some good ear buds. the one it comes with songs very tin-pan like.
because Android 2.2 has flash in its browser i find that better for some web sites so i dual booted my phone, so i can use the web browser from android 2.2 when i need flash.
