Marwa, 18 Nov 2010wow , at last i understand what ROMs are =) thank you very much , u were the help i needed =D ... moreBecause you technically replace the ROMs that was there before when you do a ROMs update, you only need to get the newest one.
If you want to do an official ROMs update, you just have to go to the HTC web site.
And from the country menu pick the country that your HD2 was made for (all of us did not buy a HD2 that was made for where we live, and it is possible for windows phones to have the same ROMs version put different region/provider settings, drivers, programs ) then go to the support tab and pick the HD2 from the list. Then look for the newest ROM that match your HD2 (may be a service provider ROMs, or a Generic HTC ROM like my phone)
To get the ROMs to download you will have to put in your S/N. once it is the correct one, the site will let you download it to your PC.
If you don’t know what country your HD2 was made for. Doing a google search for the full ROM number that is on your phone now could tell you what country or provider it is.
Instruction to update the ROM is on the same page with the download.
Anthony, 18 Nov 2010People at the HTC help desk may know very little about the phones HTC sells or how to get you ... moreNo I didn't pay for a retail warnt... Why pay for a retail one when HTC phones unlocked comes with a 24 month warnt... Besides who really keeps phones more than two years???? No it didn't cost me to have my phone repaired.....
Managed to hack on my HD2 so it runs on dual boot, found out that Microsoft video camera only managed up to VGA while the android version goes to D1. Now try to get it on 720p since HD2 is capable...

Just ask High Tech, he also had hardware problems and had it fixed at no cost to him. I don’t think he paid for a retailer warranty.

not the retailer guarantee. That is a rip off just to get more money from you. I never take that crap.
All HTC phones (that are not provider branded) have an international manufacturer warranty. Which means you can send it to a HTC repair center any ware in the world and have it fix and be covered. No matter where you buy it or were you live. You just call them and you get a RMA and after you ship it out. (If it is provider branded you have to send it back to the provider.) Sellers never tell you about it because they want you to spend money on there extra warranty. Your international warranty is linked to your S/N.
But it can’t help you now because you voided it when your friend removed the “void” cap.
Marwa, 18 Nov 20101- desire HD is fine , but i'm afraid it hasn't reached us yet ..
2- i'm asking about the upg... moreROMs are an image of every thing the phone comes with form a software point of view.
Just to name a few things that are in that image… OS installation, hardware Drivers, programs installations, if it is on the phone after a factory reset, it came from the ROMs.
That ROMs image takes up space on your ROM. and “technical” read only so you can’t edit it. I say technical because phones don’t use old school ROM.
With the rush to get the devices on the shelf for a set date or an oversight on the part of a programmer. Phones cold be sold with e.g. defective hardware drivers, incomplete software or software that does not have every thing the manufactory intended it to have.
They then could release a patch but depending on modifications you did to the phone, the patch my not work. Or if you factory reset the phone the patch would be lost.
So to get around that problem, it would be best to create a new ROMs image. With the problems fixed and have you replace your old image with the new image, that way when a factory a.k.a hard rest is done, you will now get the new drivers and what ever other things were fixed or added and not the old stuff that had problems.
Programming takes time and they can’t take all the time they need to fix every problem or request before making an UP date ROMs. So when enough programming changes have be made a new ROM is release.
You ask why upgrade your ROM…..
I got my phone with 1.43 ROMs on my ROM. and there were bugs. For one the camera would take pink pictures.
That was fixed in 1.48
Then in 1.66 the phone was able to use bigger SD cards with the camera. The sms and the audio manager problems were fixed.
Then in 3.14 the dialer, fm radio, sms and voice recorder were updated. And the CPU usage was adjusted to consume less power And the driver for the cell phone where updated to get a cleaner call. These are just some of the things I have benefited from because I updated my ROM.
Window mobile phones have the ROM slit into 3. part for you ROMs. Part to load programs when they are running (even if it was installed on the SD) and part as user storage. Because its all 1 ROM will you fill the free space of the storage part and and gets slow, that affect the other 2 parts as will. The ROM is only as good as its weakest link.
Note: cooked ROMs are images made but programmers that do not work for HTC.
And they have made improvements or removed programming that they think you do not need and is taking up space you should have to use as storage.

Well HTC is not going to fix it for free any more because your friend opened it. and to do that he/she had to remove the “void” cap that covers one of the screws. So the first thing they are going to say is, you opened it and broke it and they are not going to cover damage under that kind of circumstance.

I mashed my phone and cracked the digital display without cracking the glass and when I call HTC they gave me the info to Fedex it to Texas to replace the screen under the warranty. Only people that don’t have to install .net 3.5 are those with ROM version 3.14 and above or those that are using a cooked ROM that already had .net 3.5 built into it.
If you downloaded cookie from the authors web page. you would have seen that that .net 3.5 and CHTEditor with matching version as cookie are needed.
