Well Fedex just dropped off my phone... Guess what???? They changed my keys.. Now I have the TMO keys at the bottom ((Green phone button and the red power off button)... They did change all the bottom buttons... But it looks like they did fix the power off problem. It also no longer powers on when you insert the battery. I now can select power off from the quicklist and the phone now powers off without coming back on.... Looks like they finally fixed it. At least those issues. Have to set it up the phone later tonight???
What HTC repair changed:
-Bottom buttons. Now TMO look...
-ROM version now 1.66.76641. My old ROM was v1.43....
Abeel, 24 Sep 2010Hi, Iwould like to know the update that you mentioned is it refer to " New SMS Function U... moreNo!
The update I was talking about was the ROM update. If your ROM is 1.66 or newer you would not even need the “New SMS function Update” you can see your ROM version by going to.... settings>about phone>software information
e.g. this is my ROM # (1.66.405.2) 1.66 is the version .405. Is the region/provider code.
So when you read your ROM number, if it is older than 1.66 you need to update. Then you have to go look for a newer rom version (1.66 or newer) that has the same region/provider code as your phone.
Doing this kind of upgrade is not a Hack and will not break your warranty.
Any ROM older than 1.66 has more than 1 BUG in the sms.
1. Sometimes your sms sticks in the outbox and it does not tell you it did not go. And when it sticks all sms after that gets stuck. Till you restart.
2. It has to load all the sms from the contact you are viewing before you can create a sms of your own.
3. When a contact start to get allot of sms, some or all can start to disappear from the chat window.
4. It does not give you a message count for your contacts.
If you are having any of those problems you have an OLD ROM THAT NEEDS TO BE UPDATED.
If you do have 1.66 or newer there are other updates that are on the HTC site for other things. You just have to look at what ROM version they were made to fix a problem in.
I was telling sally a common reason any window mobile phone freezes is because there is not enough free space on internal memory for the OS to make swap files which it need to function. And sally confirmed that she only left 12.03mb of internal storage free which is way too low.
I recommend not going under 51.2mb for the HD2 T8585 and not under 100mb for the US version that has the 1GB ROM. That value is leaving 10% of the ROM storage space free.
These phones came with storage card and people need to use them more.
They also came with allot of sample crap that you don’t need that you can delete to free up space.

How to check on the rom version old 1.43 or 1.48 ROM?
I would hold off on WP7 til 2011... Read more..
I still believe HTC will release a higher end phone in 2011... I remember reading that the first release of WP7 devises will be the lower end and the higher end phones will be for the business user... I also remember reading that there was two phases of WP7 (Media and Business)... The business version wasn't complete and fully in WP7 yet....
I think we will see a device with the following:
-1.5+ GHz QUALCOMM SNAPDRAGON processor
-1+ GB RAM
-1+ GB ROM
-8/16/32GB Internal memory (we have 8GB now)
-8+ Megapixel camera with Xenon Flash
-4.5+ inch Super Amoled (Could go to 4.8 or 5.0)
-720p Video/recording (could see 1080p recording)
-4G upto 100 mbps
-with some other features...
I also read that Samung will double the output of the Super Amoled screen in 2011... So it kinda makes sense that HTC is waiting for the new processors to come out in 2011 to release a high end WP7 device....
I'm glad the new phone is same as HD2, because a WP7 port to the HD2 is more likely (easier since same)...

Anthony, 23 Sep 2010It’s a problem I came across just this month.
I would not believe it, if I did not see it wit... moreFollow up...
The unit that had that problem, I had to push in the USB cable and press it to the left and right like when you have a walkman female jack with a short that you are still trying to use, for more than 5min before it went back to normal. And I only realized it went back to normal because when I had unplugged it the back light came off in 10 sec. which was the battery settings it had and not the external power setting it was using when it was bridged.

I would not believe it, if I did not see it with my very own eyes.
Something is bridging 2 pins in the USB port, making the phone think it is connected to the “HTC HD2 CU S400 Car Upgrade Kit”. Causing it to go into car kit mode. That why it is picking up calls in speaker phone, that’s why it is only following the rules for the plugged-in back light settings and that’s why the screen comes up in landscape. Depending on the model you have the navipal interface will come up.
Others in the forum could tell you I was looking for a ROM with out navipal. this problem is what I was trying to work out.
What is bridging the 2 pins can be so small you may not notice it with the naked eye. It could even be lint from your pocket.
Don’t send it back to HTC to fix there diagnostics will not pick up the problem because there is nothing wrong with any parts on the phone and all they will do is flash your ROM and when you get back the phone it will still have the problem.
Now comes the hard part. This is what I read about the problem after doing a google search and I’m happy to say it did work.
You not going to like this but you have to do it.
Jam the USB cable into the port as hard as you can and rock it from side it side very violently. This will free up what ever is bridging the 2 pins that are used by the car kit and the phone will start functioning normally again. You can also try a can of compressed air and hope that works to free it up.
But until you get it working again, here are some things you can do to make using the phone a bit better..
1. Install the “Update for HTC HD2 Car Kit Mode function enhancement” from htc web site. This will give you back your portrait mode.
2. Set backlight and sleep time the being plugged-in to as short as you can. This will save your battery. Because as far as your phone thinks it is plugged in to a cradle.
3. go into the navipal setting and disable it and restart the phone so you don’t see that interface all the time.
4. You going to have to put up with having to manual take off the speaker phone from the phone menu ever time a call starts till you get the problem fixed.
Hope this helped and try to get the pins that the car kit used un-bridged and every thing will go back to normal.

didn't you see where the reply said .... Thanks Anthony, the used stoarge is 129.36 and the free is 12.02.
that is what was causing sally freezing.
and most likely causing yours as well unless you still using a old 1.43 or 1.48 ROM because you never went to the htc site to update it.
Sally, 23 Sep 2010Hello everyone, i have my HTC HD2 for like 10 months now, i love it and it works all good but ... moreSally, you are not alone. A lot of people has this experience too. I met one guy at HTC service center, this guy angry because his HD2 hang many times although it has already sent for servicing many times. I said to this guy to don't angry because HTC staff just an employee, you cannot blame them. If it gives you a problem then change, don't buy this anymore. I will do this soon...

HTC already change the motherboard but it still happen till now. My job depends on SMS and calls, It hangs and need to remove the battery to reset, so difficult. I need to give it up if not it will give me a big problem. My boss will scold me because sometime I received SMS but I don't realize, WHY because the HD2 is hanging.... You need to check it every minutes just to make sure your HD2 is still ON and still working. So Sad if life like this. Ha ha ha,,,just to share my experience about HD2.
What ever they call it, like HD2. It likes to hang. I don't know whether of the OS or this brand.
High Tech, 23 Sep 2010If HTC releases the HD3/7 with these horrible specs, the phone will fail... It just shows me t... moreYou can’t blame HTC for that. You have to blame Microsoft for putting hardware restriction on manufactures because they want to standardize the units that run there OS (wanting to be like iPhone.) The less variations you have in hardware, the less issues you will have from 3rd party software :(
It’s a problem both the now winmo and android phone has (clash between OS/3rd party software and the endless versions of hardware to be compatible with.)
Transformer, 23 Sep 2010I think u have a look on HTC Desire HD almost near you're spec. But no window 7 lol...If HTC releases the HD3/7 with these horrible specs, the phone will fail... It just shows me that HTC real focus is on Android phones... The phones HTC has released for Android are way, way, way better than the WP7 phone coming from them.....
xxx, 23 Sep 2010hell all. Can you guys tell me the most stable cooked roms that i can use? thanks please provi... moreStability of this phone dose not highly depend on the rom you use.
It more depend on you not installing faulty 3rd party software that was not fully tested and approved for the HD2 and you the user not leaving enough free space on the internal memory for the OS to make swap file. The OS can’t faction without swap file space.
Yes there are faulty ROM but most of the time the fault is you the user not doing proper maintenance. When people say windows mobile is for advance users they are not joking about that.
Ill give you a next common mistake a lot of people make… the phone came with a task manager. Then they go and install there own task manager that runs in the background all the time. Most of these task managers that run all the time have memory leaks that will over time of the phone being on cause the OS to stop when its swap file is full. Forcing you to soft rest to clear the memory.
It’s best to use the default task manager or if you don’t like the look of it, find one that does not need to be running in processes all the time.
I recommend MMTaskManger 2.0.100831
In its setting you can tell it not to run in background, you can also set it to start when you long press the send key if you don’t want to set it to a quick link.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010Thanks Anthony, the used stoarge is 129.36 and the free is 12.02. Well there you go.. That is your problem; you don’t have enough free space on the internal memory for the OS to make “swap files” a.k.a “virtual memory”
Time for you to do some cleaning up.
1. Move all your document, pictures/video and ringtones to the SD.
2. Uninstall all programs you installed on internal memory and reinstall them to the SD.
3. Changes setting of individual programs that save files to default save to the SD.
4. Delete crap that came with the phone that you don’t use.
5. The more free internal memory you have the faster the phone will run.
If you have too much crap on the internal memory to sort out just back up what you need to keep with the “My phone” software and put the rest on your PC. Then do a factory reset and start with a clean phone. This time try to do a better job of keeping things organized and use the SD more and internal memory less. You can also keep the audio files you use as ring tones on the root of the SD and it will show up in the ring tone list. Don’t use menu>set as ringtone because that makes a copy of the file and puts it on internal memory. It is better to go to the contact you want a custom tone for and add the tone to there contact card or go to sound settings and set the default ring you want from there, that way it will use the file that is kept on the root of the SD (root meaning no sub folders).
