Hi ! I will really appreciate for those who could help me how to get from my WinMo 6.5 to the Android 2.2 (Froyo), like in this video below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gqedm-sUBc8 ...
So please if someone could tell me which are the basic steps to do to have Android 2.2 Froyo on my HD2, by the way my HD2 is from T-Mobile USA, but I'm not in USA, I bought it used, and it has only 3 weeks since I bought it, and I didn't installed other ROM or Radio Versions on it, so I will really appreciate very much for those who can help me !
Syrus, 19 Aug 2010I understand your point for sticking to stock rom. Everybody has its own requirements, needs &a... moreHanging is something that was regular when I just started using the HD. and what trying out every peace of software I could get my hands on.
But now that I have settled on what works and know what I don’t use, I have customize to meet my needs.
You must have read the list I gave of things you can get rid of to clear ROM space that the OS need to work ok. Well after I do that and setup every thing the way I want, including installing programs and changing setting. I have just over 90mb free on internal memory. I still get lag from time to time. On a custom dialer interface I use but that happen maybe one or twice a month. Note I said lag and not crash/hang.
One thing I would tell people to stay away from are modes to the task bar, ever one I have tried before leads to multiple hangs a day.
Yes I do use word, task and calendar and sync with outlook as well as “my phone”, I even found a tweak that lets you have more than one hotmail account active on the phone for email. I did not mention them as a problem in the cooked ROMs I have used because it was not a problem.
My problems were with msn chat, footprints, digital compass, sim internal database and the fm radio. Different ROM’s where (missing/not work correct) 1 or more of them.
Anthony, 19 Aug 2010See, something is always missing that I am using. That is why I am stick with the original UK ... moreI understand your point for sticking to stock rom. Everybody has its own requirements, needs & expectation when it comes to smartphone.I'm totally PIM person. For me appointments, calender, ms office are the most imp features....of course basic phone, sms & smooth operation. There are so many other features in hd2 (i called them... half-azz gimmick features)....which i do not use and I do not even want to know. I just simply can not take hanging & freezing on any platform. I'm pretty sure your phone hangs too at least 1-2 times a day unless you lie to me. I have couple of frens with hd2 ...having same problem.
So you have a choice....Extra ram (128mb), more rom space, stability & batterylife VS your footprint. There's nth wrong trying though. You can always come back to stock....its little pain in neck though.
As I said...there's no digital compass on menu but it gives you distance, direction of location. Again... even if you are missing sth on this rom...you can always get help from xda like i did.
The KING, 19 Aug 2010To set a song as RingTone in HD2 follow these steps..
1. Open File Explorer
2. Goto the Song... moreYo.
You are killing your ROM free space by hold on the mp3 and picking set as ring tune.
That makes a copy of the mp3 on internal memory.
If you want a mp3 to show up in the ring tone list, all you have to do is save it to the root of the storage cad (save it on the storage card outside of all folders)
A next tip that allot of people don’t know is….
You can set custom ringtones to people in your contact list.
By going to edit the contact you want a special tone for and picking “more” and then set the tone for that person.
Syrus, 19 Aug 2010I am not into camera thing….I hardly use phone to take pic as I have canon. So I use footprint... moreDon’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying people should not use cooked ROMs. I’m just saying on my HD2 I don’t see the need for it, like I did not the HD.
And the way hardware development is going, by the time a good cooked ROM (to me) comes out, it would be time to just get a new phone. Because the hardware on this maybe so dated.
Syrus, 19 Aug 2010I am not into camera thing….I hardly use phone to take pic as I have canon. So I use footprint... moreSee, something is always missing that I am using. That is why I am stick with the original UK ROM for now (and do my own modifying  ) . The digital compass working with footprints is important. It not only gives cardinal directions like the US version, but it also puts a green dot in the direction of your target and gives the distance as well. This is very useful when dealing with sites that are off road.
As for the camera, you are correct; it can’t replace my Olympus SLR.
High Tech, 12 Oct 2009Will get this as soon as released!!! Hopefully by end of Oct 19th or Nov 1st or Dec 1st. Heard... moreim not argueing but there is no point in 12 mpx cam. digital slr cameras dont use 12 mpx couse it makes no difference. everything that is above 10 mpx is only used for cropping and making jumbo posters. so 5 mpx in phones is surely enough. other than that, resolution and colours make photos look better.
Anthony, 19 Aug 2010Ok check this on your cooked ROM and tell me if it still works?
Flip a footprint, then tap me... moreI am not into camera thing….I hardly use phone to take pic as I have canon. So I use footprint just for fun……(nice little features that let u know where pic was taken). But I think you use this features for your profession….may be you need precise data. Here is the answers to your questions:
1) When you use footprint…..the first thing it does is…..try to lock into gps satellite. If it is indoor or not clear sky…..it also gives you option of "Find on Map". If you choose this option …it opens up Google map where you can select the location…..then it gives you detail of compass (degree, North, south etc). I do not see separate "compass" on menu but what I see is it does give you the result....i mean distance, direction etc of that location. There is also option for recording your voice & write texts.
2)You can set regular picture as footprint also.
Syrus, 19 Aug 2010Things have changed a lot since your last Feb rom. I always complain about hangs & freezes... moreOk check this on your cooked ROM and tell me if it still works?
Flip a footprint, then tap menu.
1. Do you see “show on map and does it show the footprint location on google map?
2. Do you see digital compass in the same menu and does it work to give the distance and direction to the location of that footprint?
Every cook rom i have tried before took this out.
They also always take out the ability to make a foot print from a standard pic from your photo album after the fact.
Tell me if your cooked ROMs have this and please done lie. I use this allot as a quick passable surveying tool to help make location plans by scaling the Google satellite image.

1. Open File Explorer
2. Goto the Song using File Explorer
3. Tap and Hold the Song till you see a context menu.
4. The last option you see is "Set As Ringtone". Tap it and Enjoy.
Internally you have to have all your ringtones in the folder My Ringtones. If you dont have and you want it as ringtone, you got to follow the above method and the phone will copy the song itself!
my hd2 always get hang or freeeze while am on the internet...pls advise me what to do. its mostly when the battery is on 30percent this problem occur, but when d battery is 50percent upwards it doesn't give me any problem.

As for program....you can run anything that you can on stock rom. My current rom Cleanex Oz.....almost identical to stock (removed.....windows live, theme, sample music etc). It comes with cookies home tab, document tab. This rom also has smaller footprint in terms of memory (152 mb).
You must be aware of tmobile hd2 vs international hd2 ... tmobile has 576 mb ram & 1gb rom(bigger for carrier crap). But the truth is ....all hd2 have 576 mb ram (locked in international version). So you can have this extra ram by installing this ROM also. Details of memory on my device now:
Total storage: 269.50 mb, Used storage: 58.16mb, Free storage:211.35 mb(this is all after installing my necessary apps).....which i think is really good.
You won't be disappointed if you try this. One more good thing is .....Great battery life(my radio is 2.12.50.02_2).
Hi Everyone, I'm From Sri Lanka (Asia) and my ROM version is 1.66.707.1 Do I have any ROM update. How do check it? Please help me on this regard.
Syrus, 19 Aug 2010Just wondering why you do not even want to try cooked rom……nth to lose man. It got everything ... moreI have used cooked ROMs before.
On My HD, it was great to upgrade from winmo6.1 to 6.5 with Leo interface.
But every cooked ROM i have used on the HD2 up till February has taken out one feature or the other that the UK factory unlocked ROM has and i use.
I have customized my phone interface and app list and setting to the way i want it. And put on the eye candy I wanted and left off the rest.
After going through 2 to 3 ROMs a week in January – February. I have realised that no cooked rom is going to meet all 3 of my needs. (looks, run, have) what I want better than I can customize a ROM myself. And that is what I have done with 1.66.405.2
Also because this is one of my work tools I can’t be a beta tester for ROMs that are not fully functional.
So when i say i will only try a cooked ROM if there is a cooked win7 for the HD2. I mean i will only try it if it has something i can use in work that i can’t customise into win6.5
If you could find me a cooked ROM that took nothing out of the UK unlocked ROM but unlocked the extra ROM space like the US version i would be interested in that.
(Please don’t say install the US cooked ROM, that has too much crap on it i cant use out of the US and it does not have the internal sim database that comes in handy when using a dual sim card holder.)
Hi I have just download some wallpapers from xda developers site and these r like theme appear as background but problem is they didnt fit in whole screen so want to get rid of this rubish which i cant even i have deleted it by using file explorer but it still in my background wallpaper please tell me how can i get rid.
Anthony, 18 Aug 2010How on earth did you break the battery contact pin in the middle?
You have to pull the batter... moreJust wondering why you do not even want to try cooked rom……nth to lose man. It got everything you need…... plus more. I tried lot…..Energy is my favorite but battery life is not good on this. So recently I tried CleanEx Oz rom v4.20(not eye candy like energy)…..very stable & good battery life. Never hang or freeze….even I try to freeze my device purposely by running lots of apps in background and opening memory intensive program. Its rock solid.
Like you ….i always stayed with stock rom….main reason was chinese inuput. Thanks to xda dev….i solved this problem finally. Now I can use chinese input in cooked rom and also use compact qwerty. So decided to say bye bye to stock rom.
PS: don’t forget to perform task29 before u flash cooked rom.
