You should see how ridiculously slow the GPS is in the Omnia i900. Ridiculous and slow are not even the proper words that should be used in the i900!
Plus, I don't use the GPS that much on my phone. But if lock time is really taking too long, QuickGPS is a great tool to be used. But data service is required for it to be used.
I think that QuickGPS can be faulty because when traveling abroad I usually don't get a data plan because it is too $$$.
Anonymous, 10 Apr 2010I use TomTom. GPS locks in pretty quickly (1-2 minutes). If you want to cut down that GPS lock time run QuickGPS once a week. It will keep updated satellite location info on a database on the phone so the GPS will take less time to connect. I can get a lock in under 30sec
QuickGPS can be found under the start menu in tools

And I do agree with you, not because it says scratch proof means you have to take the chance with your phone.
I have the international Version straight from HTC (SIM free) no provider branding. I got it that way because I wanted the ROM updates from HTC whenever they come out with any. I got it November 2009 and it went from 1.43 to 1.48 to my now 1.66ROM which other than the US T-mobile version all the other providers are still running old ROMs.
The SP P300 may or may not be the same as what you got just with the T-Mobile Branding my it is an original HTC product.
The phone worked well with it but now that it is off and I touched that naked glass I just donít want to put on a next one. I did give a free generic one I got with the Crystal slip case a try and that worked like crap.
About the non-OEM 2400mAh from ebay, I would not recommend getting it.
This is the second time that I am using the battery, and the battery drains more or less like the stock one. In regular standby mode, I got a drain of 10% for about 8 hours without doing anything.
Plus, I got logs stating that the extended battery temperature is at 34.8C compared to 24.xC with the stock. FULL (mAh) are the same.
I don't see much things can improve after another discharge. LOL. So much for non-OEM stuff.

Like I have mentioned before, I am vote for having a screen protector in the HD2, although the screen is supposed to be scratch proof.
I got the OEM package for the screen protectors because in the US it comes with a set of 2. And no where in the package it says SP P300. So I think you might have different OEM product where you are. The only thing I see are big HTC letter in the front, and T-Mobile (front and back).
I personally think it is smoother with the OEM screen protector than without one. You get much less fingerprints with the screen protector. Hence, screen is less sticky. The product description of the OEM screen protector states that it is anti-smear sheet.
japa, 10 Apr 2010is it possible to use keyboard in landscape position using ms word ?Yes you can get the landscape view in any program and the keyboard to match you just have to install a program called changescreen to take off the lock HTC put in there ROM.
With this program it will let you use the phone upside down if you want to :-)
For some programs you will have to put them in the exceptions list to stop them from auto rotating.
There is a help file to teach you the settings
Here is the link.
you can also install
as you are on that web page.
So you can get that site as a app on your phone.

Can you tell me you never see an iPhone with scratches on the screen?
The OEM screen protector is the SP P300. It feels real good; I put one on as soon as I took the phone out of the box back in November. But when it got digs and I took it off...... I can tell you your finger slides allot smother on the naked glass

I was just trying to help someone that was having that problem.
You have to remember this is a world phone and not everyone worldwide can get unlimited data.

Since I am using SPB Shell 3.5.3, the auto-update doesn't work with data service thru the phone service provider.
However, when I do a manual update, the weather does the update thru the phone service provider only if wifi is not turned on, and it will auto-disconnect per tweak set in registry file.
The auto-update for the weather in the 3.5.3 version works for wifi only.
I just find this a perfect setting because I don't care how many times it will auto update through wifi.
As for the weather update with the HTC weather program, it is not a flaw. After all, new smartphone with contract is not generally forcing you to get unlimited data plan.
I do see a point though for saving drain in the battery though.

Itís been some time now I have been using it without a screen protector.
The coating on the metal battery cover got bruised (It has a clear coating) from using a generic car mount. The coating on the phone body got one pin like scratch, from what I donít know (body looks like it is metal as well with a plastic coating). But the screen still looks like brand new whenever I get time to clean off the finger prints. The only line I can see on it is the sensor grid when light hits it at the right angle
