Regarding tmobile htc hd2, here is the trick but for this you need to have some friends or relatives.
If you anybody in US, tell them to buy in 2 yrs contract($199). Once you get the phone, wait for 1 month. Pay the first month bill(about $70) and after that call tmobile customer service that you want to cancel contract. The early termination fee is $170 (I think). Then hd2 is all yours. I am telling this coz I already did with my old nokia phone but it was 1 & half yrs ago.
Anthony, 03 Apr 2010the rom is not what is giving you the US 3G.
I have used that ROM on my phone. and others hav... moreThis is by far what an XDA should be in 2010. I don't even have to mess around with the Radio version.
Radio version is 2.08.50.08_2 in my US HD2.

There are a lot of regular Joe (& simple minded people), and that's how the numbers make up what you got as one of the world most owned "smartphone" that make you think you are smart indeed.
Anthony, 03 Apr 2010It could have been, you live in the US so you wanted the US 3G version but plan to use it with... moreAlso, if you buy the HD2 without a contract, it will still be locked. You will have to request the phone to be unlocked for free from T-Mobile.
The retail store will not unlock your phone immediately.
Plus, if you want to get a US HD2 version shipped to you outside the US for something like $500 including shipping will be a little harder than you think. It's hotcake like you've seen in T-Mobile official site.

Selling in America from only ONE network (and a poor one at that). Yet, you say it's the worst... Basically, calling most consumers, critics and techs foolish/stupid. Then you champion HTC's brand new edition over all else... How convenient, as most new smart phones are packed full of the latest/advanced features. Some people just want to see the proclaimed/considered top fall just because. I cheer for the underdog too, but the iPhone IS a good phone. You don't have to deny it's capabilities in order to praise/choose/desire another more.
Anthony, 03 Apr 2010It could have been, you live in the US so you wanted the US 3G version but plan to use it with... moreYes, US 3G is hardware based.
Yes, the US HD2 is cheaper than an unlocked non-US HD2 version.
If you don't care about having 3G, you can get the US phone, unlock it, and you'll certainly have access to data Edge connection.
The ROM is so stable (at least for me) that I don't even have to bother putting other ROM.
You can always try to put another ROM in the US HD2 to see if you can get better stability with 3G connection outside the US.
Personally, I have waited that long for the US 3G ability. If you really don't care about 3G, I would think of getting something smaller like an Omnia II or X2 for the wife.

if it will work will an AT&T sim, I know it will work with a digicel sim.
that is why I want to know if the one without the plan is not locked like the one with the plan.
3G don't matter to me(im not in the US and I don't have access to 3G service). I want to get a HD2 to replace my wife half dead Nokia and the US version cost less than the international version I have. and it has more ROM/RAM space for me to hack.

I have used that ROM on my phone. and others have tried it just to see if it would make the international version get 3G in the US. its the radio hardware it self. the US version is different.
I want to but if for the bigger rom but I need to know if my sim will work in the no service plan version. or are they all iPhone style sim locked?
I was also a bit dissapointed at first that the US HD2 came with WM6.5 version instead of WM6.5.3.
But I gotta say that WM6.5 is the best choice to those people that came from WM6.1.
I guess with the Start button up there some programs are more compatible.
With the Start button down there, it may just be more practical since buttons are down there.
Anthony, 03 Apr 2010It's sold out there.

But of course, there are others that are unlike me. The US version is best with US T-Mobile. Unlike you, I gotta stay with this ROM for US 3G.
