Blaine, 11 Jan 2010In case Khalil clarifies the importation tax refund upon leaving Dubai, I was thinking of this... morei dont think you can get a tax refund if you buy it off clove and send it to dubai dude! it wont be tax but customs charge. besides you only get refunds on things you buy IN dubai am i right? you're better off byuing from clove and sending to ur home country.
Anthony, any thoughts?

I go to Dubai and place my order on Clove and choose Dubai as delivery location. I can use dad's bank card since he has an account in a bank there. Any thoughts on this? Please guys, help me figure out an economic way to get this babe!! :)
Anthony, 11 Jan 2010you are right it is very ugly lol http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=8708LOL here i was trying to describe it and you had already seen it :P
Anthony, 11 Jan 2010You should get official screen protector.
And if you don’t plan to use the car kit a silicone... morethinking of the screen protector but not sure. i mean if the screen is glass and im not gonna touch it with anything but my fingers then it shouldnt get scratched right? :S but im still considering it, also im crap at applying screen protectors (never get 100% on) and there are always dust bubbles *yuck* :P
but the gel case things i know ill never get for many reasons. they make the phone ugly (IMO). the phone came with a super sexy leather pouch which i love and use alot (using a cover will not allow the hd2 to fit + the pouch protects). and the outside of the hd2 (other than the glass screen and metal battery cover) are hardened rubber which not only look really cool and feel nice and tough but rubber is a classic shock absorber (even hardened rubber). also the battery cover looks like it will fly off if the phone falls which many ppl dont like but dont realize that that is a form of shock absorbing...!!!! When objects fly off, they take away some of the shock with them (think of how many parts fly off formula 1 cars when they crash).
The car holder you got looks REALLLY cool! ill definitely get that one!!! the most important thing in a car holder is the option of rotating.
About the official car holder battery cover, i really dont remember where i saw the pics (gsmarena or htcpedia) but its really funky! u know the three copper lines that show under the HD2 batter cover (the one under the battery and beside the sim card slot)? did u ever wonder what that is? well its a slot for the official car holder battery cover, something slips in there when you put it on to activate car navigation mode and charge the phone (you plus the charger into the car holder not the phone). the back of the battery cover has a kind of a circular maze (u know like the circular ones with a small metal ball inside that you have to guide to some hole - like htc teeter) that sticks out alot. The functionlity of that is that it allows you to "snap" the phone on the car holder instead of fitting it in. you just put it in ant twist and the phone automatically starts charging and turns on navigation mode. now that sounds really practical but i find it a pain to keep changing the battery cover and no way in heck would i leave it on (again, cant use my leather pouch!)!!
DID I MEANTION I FREAKING LOVE THIS PHONE!!!
Can you please help me? I'm trying to buy this set and I live in Bangladesh. But within a few months probably 5 months I'll be moving to USA forever so will this set work in USA? Cause the frequency in my current location is the same as in Europe but USA uses different set of frequencies. Please give me a suggestion; and correct me if I'm wrong.
And another thing, with minimum brightness level how long can i browse on this at a straight???
Please please Anthony help me cause I just can't wait to get my hands on this "Beast".

If you are buying from clove and you are not shipping to the same address as the billing address of your card they are going to give you hell. They may not even take your order. They are very strict on preventing identity theft.
When they take an order. The request is sent to your bank with a code. You have to call your bank, get that code and e-mail it back to them. So they can confirm that the card is really yours, and then they process your order. They take it that serious. The next option they give is for you to fax a copy of the front and back of the card. I would advise every body to NEVER do that with online shopping. You never know who is on the next end getting your fax.

I got the screen protector from clove and the case from amazon UK
Here is the link to the case.
Friday I also ordered this car holder but I have not gotten it as yet.
Where did you see a picture of the battery cover you have to put on to use the official car holder? All the shots I see shows it already on the stand I want to see what it looks like off the stand.

If I ask them to deliver it to me here in Europe, the total price (inc. VAT and shipping) will be £514 ($830).
To Khalil: I read what you wrote about the customs fee in Dubai, Thanks for your reply!
-First of all, I'm not gonna use the phone in Dubai, I'm going for a visit, so I'll take it when I come back. I'd like to know in case I ask Clove to deliver it to an address in Dubai, am I gonna have to pay customs fee or not (knowing that I'll have it with me when I get back)? Can I ask Dubai customs to pay me back the fee?
-I'm asking all this, because I checked the total price for delivery to Dubai, it's £444 ($715)!!
So can you please confirm what you said regarding customs fee?

gonna get the car charger (will never find one here), official stylus, bluetooth headset (the htc ones are really cool) and im not sure if ill go for the official car kit. i mean its cool and all but i dont want to change my backcover every time i drive (using a generic car holder is easier no?). also i wouldnt keep it on (the backcover) cause its bu*t-ugly and bulky (i find the slimness of HD2 to be a major advantage thats why ill never get the extended battery).
any ideas for any other accessories?
Blaine, 11 Jan 2010Thanks Anthony for your quick reply!
I'm in the same situation as you. I don't live in UK but... moreYou are in Europe so you should take note that any site you buy from outside of Europe you may have to pay importation tax. Did the price from Plemix take that into consideration? Talk to your local customs and get the info.
I am lucky that computers can be imported into my country with no importation tax fee, and for some reason my both HTC windows mobiles phones were considered PC’s.
Because the normal import tax for cell phones here is 30%. I did not have to pay the UK vat or my local import tax. I just paid for the phone and shipping. :)
Blaine, 11 Jan 2010Thanks Anthony for your quick reply!

Well that is different.
Go to the site drag image of the phone and the accessories you want to the (MyBasket) when you are done click “check out”
Under delivery & Tax pick your country and shipping method you will see your charges. Because I think Europe pays VAT. upfront on this site.
You don’t have to full out any member form to get that info and once you get it, just leave the page if you not ready to buy.

I'm in the same situation as you. I don't live in UK but in Europe. So you say that they aren't gonna charge me VAT (or any other tax money), so all I have to pay is the price and the shipping plus any accessories that I want to have with the phone, right?
