nick, 04 Jan 2010Hey, I was thinking of getting one of these, but I must address one priority.

Just make shore you have them tagged right.
The player does not read file names it reads tags.
Right now when ever I get time I use midomi and tag runner
To edit my music library on my home network.
Before I put any more track on this phone.
I only have 800+ on now but the home network has 50gb of music
And that is music I started collecting over 18 years ago. Long before I even knew anything about tags. so I have my work cut out for me. I don’t know what I would have done if I did not have midomi on this phone.
Hey, I was thinking of getting one of these, but I must address one priority.
I use my phones as my primary music player, and so I'd like to know if the music player can comfortably support 1500+ tracks. I have a samsung innov8 right now and it struggles slightly but does the job, so obviously if the HTC could better that, that would be good news.

iumar.net, 04 Jan 2010by the way HD2 is with scratch-less screen so there is no need to use screen protectorWhen a manufacture uses the word “proof” you believe them?
Would you get someone shoot you in the chest with an armor parsing “bullet” if they let you where a bullet “proof” vest?
iumar.net, 04 Jan 2010by the way HD2 is with scratch-less screen so there is no need to use screen protectorThey said the same thing about the iPhone being scratch proof and yet you have people walking around with iphone’s with scratches on the screen. So if you want to spend all that money to buy this phone but don’t want to spend a few dollars to protect it… will by all means you go right ahead.
I know when the time comes I plan to resell this phone just like I did with my first HD and I need it to be looking like brand new when that time comes.

Have had it for about a month.I find it extremely difficult the touch flo screen and the lack of a stylus.I think that a combination of the two would have been better.
Sun, 04 Jan 2010SSPL?
Ah, I'm sure all will be revealed once you've had a proper playthrough ;)Think of the SPL of a windows mobile phone as you would think on the Bios of a PC
When a rom has to be written to the chip on the phone the SPL looks to see if it is the right/official rom before it lest it be written.
SSPL is a Software SPL that will let the phone bypass that check so any rom can be loaded to the chip, and then you go back to using the built in SPL.
When you want to change rom again official or un-official, you have to run the SSPL again.
On my other phone which was the first HD I had a HSPL which is a Hardware SPL.
What I did to that phone was to replace the SPL that was built into the phone with one that was made by someone on XDA. so the phone just stopped doing the check period. So I could install any rom official/un-official at any time just like if it was an official rom.

So if your phone was in French language. It going to be English after this because Dutty’s rom is a English rom. And the only way to get back your old rom is to have a copy of it and use the SSPL to flash it back on.
HTCpedia has copies of official roms. I just hope your rom is one of them in the list. Mine is…
and yes i will give a run down of the good and bad
and how to do the flash but for now i still trying things on it.

Still, as this is almost 2 years old, I think I just have to be patient and await for the first feedback on WM7.

I'd second the request for fool-proof step-by-step newbie instructions for the install, if it's not too much trouble ...
this would work for any language version, right? i. e. it wouldn't matter which market the original htc rom was released for?
really looking forward to your opinion once you've played with it a bit more ...

What I really ... moreSome things for you to think about…
Hummmmm?
An accelerometer dose not detect gestures it detects motion of the device it is in.
The multi touch screen is for gestures.
Last time I checked front cameras are put in the top left/right corner of cell phones not the center of the phone. So how is it going to see a gesture I do with my hand that is holding the bottom of the phone and is in the center, near to the screen most of the time? Am I to do these gestures with my face?
Microsoft is know to promises allot of things and then don’t deliver on half, just look at windows vista or windows millennium for who can remember that far back.
Beta tester will get it long before the official date. And XDA will have cooked roms long before HTC or any other comp starts to sell a phone with it.
The only mandatory equipment Microsoft has asked manufactures for so far to get the license is… there device must have a windows physical key. No mention of front or back camera for the OS to work.
So until it is out for beta testing, I’m not going to speculate on what it can or can’t do.

Many thanks!

you don't have a problem
new phones come with a thin layer on shipping plastic on the screen, on the HD2 it is put on so precise that some people don't see it.
just peel it off.
but before you do i recommend that you do buy the official screen protector.
