I just watched like 20vids on youtube on how you can customize your phone, make it your own bla, bla ,bla. BUT, not one of the vids showed me how to customize your desk top! how to take the icons of the screen and place your own picture as your background WITH OUT cropping. If you buy a laptop and you hate clutter ! you should be able to remove things and, just open files when you are ready to view them.i should be able to do it with a phone 2. Can any body tell me anything about the wall paper settings? I want to see a picture of my new 6month old baby on my screen , not just the feet or the head! The only phone I know that works with out cropping is the iphone4
Samsung with Windows Mobile 7 has a card slot for memory up to 32GB... HTC doesn't....thats why HTC ...FAIL!!
Alex, 05 Nov 2010I like what I see, but I won't buy for what I miss. I will never buy a WP7 phone until it has... morei beg of you guyz' pleas go to windows or the manufacturers website and readup on the specks, WP7 will have SilverLight, and as for internal memory that BS now because with silver-light all you need a good 3 or better 4G, WiFi connection, a PC at home running Win7 or winHome sever and you can stream your own movies and music, I have a 12Tb sever at home" a phone will never have that amount of space and they dont need to ;-)

But I understand the memory module is sealed in this device, and warranty void if changed. Ok so you have your music, video etc on micro sd cards you transfer this to your pc, and sync it correct? No mass storage mode, so can you transfer it and if so how long does it take, say your video file is 500mb not unusual these days, is it possible in reasonable time? This phone looks great just worried about lack of a card slot and being locked into zune, an unknown to me.
Marco, 05 Nov 2010Nobody appreciates on-board 8GB of memory... Android phones have 150MB of it on average! Anywa... moreeven if there is the same amount of RAM internally as on the memory card there is a huge diffrence: 1st case scenario - u need to sync with a PC when you want to switch big content e.g. add navigation maps instead of your song collection, or u want to see some movies. If you have 3 microSD cards, u could do that by only switching among them on the road. Huge difference
I like what I see, but I won't buy for what I miss.
I will never buy a WP7 phone until it has:
2.Flash/Silverlight support in web browser
(they dont need to be in the OS, could be 3rd party solutions but they are a must for being available in there)
also - whish list:
2.USB mass storage mode
3.Decent navigation solution (iGo, Route66, whatever)
4.Selective multitasking - at least designated applications should be able to run in the background (like 3rd party alarm software, messenger, navigation, resource meter, etc)
5.lots of 3rd party apps.

Android phones have 150MB of it on average! Anyway, you can replace internal microSD card with card of your choice up to 32GB. And OS doesn't differentiate internal/external memory, no need to copy files/move apps from internal to external memory.

N8 which I own is I feel under powered. Play need for speed and it shows. Then go play it on galaxy s. The hd7 has a decent processor. I do believe that windows 7 mobile is better than symbian but still think it's got a long way to convince me it's an android competitor. Still time will tell.
Wallpaper on lock screen? Reminds me of limo as on samsung m1 on vodafone. It states that no bluetooth support but quotes hardware capable. With no memory card slot or capability for mass storage support how do you put files of larger size on this phone? Is it locked to microsoft servers? Is this an Iphone style locked to supplier?

How odd when you think about it that the company that made as it's almost trademark a wallpaper based gui goes for a tiled interface. Android stole it's thunder I feel. Symbian is a dead duck.
HTC make great phones and Windows 7 mobile does look a very good OS (especially compared to previous Microsoft mobile OS's) but reviews i have read is that it is still a bit buggy and not as feature rich as it's 2 main OS competitors (Android and IOS). Personally if you are looking at getting a new phone i would say look no further than the HTC desire as it ships with Android 2.2 OS (which me being a techy think is the best OS by far) and is as feature rich hardware wise as any other on the market. HTC Desire HD is very nice but it has TFT screen as opposed to the very crisp AMOLED on a standard Desire
Engineer Man, 03 Nov 2010I can't see Microsoft eating up Nokia's symbian that easily. The picture might look good, but ... moreEverything you say about symbian is theory, when it comes to real world application Symbian is the worst OS I have used to date. Owned the N97, while they claim the processor and RAM was enough it was clear that it was needing a bit more power. Then comes the N8 CPU plus GPU one would think that it should be more than enough but when it comes to it there's an awful lot of people making similar complaints as that of the N97, which tells me that the same story continues.
Obviously the story will be different if you look at it from an enthusiasts point of view one who regularly contributes to forums such as this one and keeps up with the mobile phone technologies and developments but you gotta remember that the majority of users out there don't understand all the things you are talking about. The most complicated thing a lot of them do when they buy a smartphone is go through the setup wizard, so it is important for these mobile manufacturers understand this point. Symbian is not idiot proof "fact". hence Symbian is suffering big time at the high end level. lowerend is where Nokia excel coz you practically just inset you sim card two to three clicks later you good to go.
