Do you know how well the phone support movie files in terms of AVI or other types?
I just bought this phone a week ago and i'm very happy with it. Though i'm an Apple user and never liked android but this phone is just a masterpiece! Everything is perfect, battery, camera, sound, performance,EACH AND EVERY THING IS PERFECT! Satisfied with it and this is something which can be compared with Apple.
I love this phone.... I think this is the best phone htc have ever made and top of the range for now 
Andre52, 16 May 2013I bought this phone a couple of weeks ago and i am as already in love with this phone. Screen ... moreThanks 4 sharing ur experience mam.Was mad to bur xperia Z but on the 11 th hour changed my decision and got this piece of art...awesome phone.
This is my 3rd HTC Android phone in 40 months. My Sensation 4G was great, which is why I gave it to my stepdaughter yesterday after getting her a new sim card and phone line. However, this phone is a work of art, both aesthetically pleasing and superbly functional. The aluminum body is a pleasure to hold and the gorilla glass screen is reassuring to tap into. Another engineering and artistic marvel from HTC.
I'm about to get a new phone and i was considering S4, XZ, and HTC One. I've eliminated S4 because alot of my friends had maintenance problems with samsung S series before. My priorities are good camera, good performance, and durability. Can anyone advise me what to get?
I'm amazed by how many people buy a phone just for its camera , seriously ! I think the hole idea of having a decent camera on a phone is just for convenient and sharing to our social life ! I wouldn't think of taking a photo from a phone and get it print out . I mean normaly we just view them on our phone or computer monitors ! If I was going to take photos to print out then that must be something I really want to give people in person ! Then I would of take it with my DSLR , I wouldn't trust any phone camera from Samsung , Sony , Htc , Nokia or iPhone ! So buy which ever phone you like , but don't buy a phone strictly for its camera ! There is no such thing as a perfect phone , only a phone that suits you ! For those that are confused weather to purchase the Htc one , ask yourself what exactly are you searching ! If its only camera you are concern, then I can tell you from my past few days experience with the phone the camera is not perfect , but its decent ( Specialy indoor shots ) I compared it to my iPhone 5 and in low light condition the Htc one wins ! In out door good light condition iPhone 5 wins , but not by far only better in zooming in to 100% size ! As a all rounder Htc one wins in lots of ways , specially in the speaker department , there is no phones on the market even come close to the quality of sound the Htc one speaker can produce and build quality is top notch ! That's just my opinion ! So good luck to those are deciding ! Cheers !
kent, 15 May 2013the camera is only 4 mpxl. doesnt it too low for a high end and expensive smartphone? is the c... moreitz 4 up not mp....it has best camera clearity equal to s4...i think people should go 4 htc one...there is an option in gsmarena to check the clearity of camera..
I bought this phone a couple of weeks ago and i am as already in love with this phone. Screen quality is so amazing, this is the best screen I've ever seen.. The pictures and videos taken with this phone looks so so cool and clear. The battery back up is good too. One day and 3 hours, still 51 percent left. Thanks God it doesn't have an octa core processor, if it had this phone would start to heat up like galaxy S4. It doesn't heat up. Sound Quality is loveable, i mean adorable. The phone is handy, easy to use and looks so premium!! Better than iPhone. Games, videos plays flawlessly and unlike Touchwiz UI, HTC Sense doesn't lag or hang.. The battery is non removable and it's for a good reason. You Can track your phone in case it gets lost or stolen.. Overall this is an awesome phone.. Really worth the money.. (= hats off to HTC..
ďInspirational, conceptual, beautiful. The #HTCOne is THE phone of 2013Ē
HTC really have done a superb job with this phone, I have been running the silver variant for 2 months now and have to say this is one of the finest phones I have used to date. Not only in design, but the Sense UI has been trimmed to give a more fluid feel and less power hungry which shows in the battery usage.
So letís start with the design; Overall from the front it looks like a sandwich of clear black in between the two silver speaker grills. And while the actual digital screen isnít edge to edge I quite like having that 5mm black edge framing the visible screen. The top speaker grill also houses the 2.1MP front facing camera and the ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and within the left side of the actual speaker grill is where youíll find the LED (although you wonít know this until you get a notification or put it on charge). Round the side youíll find the volume rocker which is an almost flush ridged flat metal bar which works to keep the sleekness of the phone whilst still having that tactile feel so you can find it without looking. On the bottom is the USB port and pinhole for the mic while the top just has the headphones jack and power button. Again, the power button is made flush to the phone, so it can be slightly tricky to find/press, and I can imagine might be tricky if you have larger fingers. The other thing with the power button is itís clear black, why is this? Well itís also an IR blaster, this is used to transmit Infra-Red signals to a TV, Sky Box, Hi-Fi etc as the phone can also act as your remote control. On the back is where youíll find the much talked about Ultra-Pixel camera and accompanying flash, as well as another pinhole for the rear facing mic for use when capturing videoís (in full 1080p HD).
The phone in itís entirety is surprisingly slim, and another surprise is the weight. 143g, which is just the right weight in my opinion. Not too heavy, but not light enough that you donít know you have it. Itís a sleek design and the back is set on a slight convex so that it sits nicely in the palm and just feels natural to hold. The only downside to this is when you are lying the phone on a flat surface such as a table and typing a text or using the phone as it makes a slight wobble. The finish overall is of a high quality which would be expected of a flagship device from HTC, as with all HTC devices Iíve used Iíve found their build quality to be unsurpassable.
So on to the bread and butter, usage and UI; The first thing youíll notice once youíve booted the phone up and gone through the standard setup process is the responsiveness of the phone. Sometimes Iím wondering if I even pressed the screen at times as Iíve gone to press an icon or shortcut and itís opened before Iíve felt anything. Itís just so quick to respond to every gesture and press which is a far cry from anything Iíve used beforeÖ even AOSP/AOKP. Youíll also start to grasp how much the Sense UI has been trimmed down. This time you have a maximum of 5 panes to add widgets/shortcuts to and these are aligned in a row with Blinkfeed (HTCís update to Friend Stream) taking the first pane, so really just 4 left to play about with. This time HTC have decided not to add loads of random widgets that you may or may not want to various panels, you just get Blinkfeed and the standard clockÖ. Itís now up to you to customise which in my opinion is better as I hated having to remove loads of widgets I didnít want or use.
This time the app drawer is made to feel like an access panel rather than an additional window to be opened and closed. So rather than the button to open, and back button taking you out and back to the home screen. You just use the menu to open, and then menu again to reduce. This can be a little confusing to start with, but you get used to not being able to use the back button to close it and it does start to feel like a better way of operating.
All in all, Sense has had quite a revamp. So if youíve used previous iterations of this skin it will certainly feel different, but in a good way! Itís cleaner, more polished and HTC have taken out a lot of the unneeded widgets, stock apps etc that just added to the drain on processor and battery. To me itís starting to get to be more like pure android with some additional enhancements, whereas before it was a complete overlay which didnít allow you to truly appreciate the Android OS for what it is.
So what else is new? Well, HTC have added an IR Blaster into the power button. So by using the TV app pre-installed on the phone you can run a setup process to determine your, country, channels and hardware setup. Once done you can easily open the TV app, see recommended programs or all programs, press the image of the program you want to watch and it will select the channel for you. No more fighting over the remote! With the Sense TV app you can add remotes by room, so for example you could have a setup for your living room, and another for the bedroom etc. The only thing missing is I would have liked another app to be on the phone to allow you to just use the remote feature by itself. For example I have a wireless speaker which I take on holiday or outside if weíre in the garden etc and I would like to have an app which could download or learn the remote codes for this without having to worry about the TV channels etc.
Have I mentioned the dual facing front speakers? This really is an impressive move. Stereo sound with a dedicated amplifier and Beats by DreÖ all in a phone! It really does make a difference, and trust me youíll know when you get a message or your alarm goes off for the first time in the morning, you may want to turn the volumes down a little. And I never thought Iíd hear myself saying that about a phone speaker. Playing music through it is just a joy, no tinny poor quality sound. And if you put the volume on max, the bass doesnít distort or feel un-natural. You really do need to hear it to believe it!
Blinkfeed Ė In a slightly controversial move HTC have made Blinkfeed a static non-removable home screen panel taking up the first of the 5 available to you. So what is it? Blinkfeed is like a mesh of tweets, Facebook status updates/wall posts, information such as news, reviews etc from various online sources as well as upcoming calendar appointments or TV shows (if you have the TV app configured). The aim is to provide a hub for the activity which it feels would be of interest to you all on one screen. Iím not a huge fan of seeing everything my Facebook friends are doing, so Iíve set mine to just show my calendar entries and TV recommendations. But I can see this would be good for people who do like to keep on top of it all.
Why no megapixels? If you havenít already understood ultrapixels then there are some great guides as to the benefits of ultrapixels over megapixels on the HTC blog. But in essence, megapixels are great if supersizing your pictures to put on a billboard or a very large screen. But for daily usage ultrapixels offer a better clarity and image processing. This leads to far clearer images and pictures Iíve taken on my phone are in such high quality Iíve actually converted from using my Canon compact to just using the phone now as the images are actually better. The colours and clarity offered is amazing to see, especially on the HD screen you get with the One. Just another feature I urge anyone to see for themselves as you wonít get the full experience until you actually try it. One great feature, and one I use a lot is the movie highlight feature which using some clever algorithms creates a short film of an event in your gallery and combines stills & moving images to create a kind of trailer for your event. Everyone I have shown this to is massively impressed, and itís yet another feature Iíd suggest looking at for yourself to really see how good this is.
Overall there are many other features and technical detail I havenít gone into, but Iíve tried to cover off the parts which I think most people will relate to or use regularly. I canít emphasise enough how good this phone really is. If you are due an upgrade a would urge that you seriously consider the HTC One as your next phone as it is a fantastic all-round device which offers something for everyone.
honestly you people read through preferences then if you not sure educate some more before someone once again ask "4mp are you serious???" I mean do you really think that HTC the company which produced one of them best smartphones through the years now releasing latest phone would make a poor 4mp while everyone else starts from 8mp come on. For the last time, this is 4 Ultra pixel which means it's better then most 8mp and picture is better because it doesn't actually mean that the technology is better because in any digital camera most important feature is what matrix you have if it's poor you can have 20mp and then picture will be awful and luckily HTC have good one.So buy this phone because its: well made, beautiful, have all the features you need and it's powerful and if you want to have crystal clear pics buy SLR camera because HTC ONE it's still just a smartphone.
this is the fantastic smartphone which all android phones should have. dont think about the 4mp camera, this camera is 4mp ultra pixel which is more clarity than megapixels & just think about the air gestures in samsung galaxy s4, they r practically useless & it absorbs lot os battery consumption. think abt the ppi pixel density which is 469ppi & it is the current highest ppi in all phones. think abt the build quality full aluminium unibody which looks very good than s4. if this phone has octa core, then this phone would have been the best. any guys agree with me?
Anonymous, 16 May 20134Mp camera, are you serious?????????htc have 4 ultrapixel camera not 4 magapixel. ultrapixel cameras are better than magapixel cameras
4 mp ultra pixel...not ordinary megapixel may be ultra pixels have good results than formal mega pixels,
Why the HTC people opted for 4MP camera in this competitive era. The mobile should have atleast 12MP camera to stand still amongst the other same category mobiles. I am very much excited about this, but 4MP camera pulling me back to buy Xperia-Z. I am very much disappointed with this camera.
