S5 display has the most accurate colours of any smartphone by displaymate.
I have a lot to tali about these displays but no need of explaining to someone who won't even try to understand.

Regarding the car now, it's also on s4. Do obviously it'll be on s5. I mentioned the smoothness of sense.
Minor processor speed does make a difference. Actually its more than that. S5 uses the s801 AC which has 2.5 ghz clock for cpu and 578 man for gpu. M8 uses the s801 AB version which has 2.3 ghz cpu and 550 mhz gpu. So the Adreno 330 are not the same.
Regarding the advantages of s801 AC over s801 AB, it's slightly more efficient too and hence there is less heating when recording 4k video. You might have heard the 4k problems with z2 with s801 AB.
Regarding the call quality, m8 is better hands down. But music quality its tough. There is an exynos version of s5 too and it has a Wolfson chip. That's beats the m8 by quite a long shot. Even my s4 exynos beats the m8 due to Wolfson DAC.
The multitasking app on Plaistow uses the floating windows rather than the full versions used in multi window. It's comparable to xperia mini apps but Multi window is miles ahead. Trust me, I use both and multi window is miles better.
I know you are a sensible person unlike a specific person on s5 thread (I won't take his name).
Remember my prediction of g3. It was 100% correct. I can know smartphones by their specs. No need to argue further.
I don't care about any of these phones. Both are just minor iterations of their predecessors. Let's talk when the real updates come in q3 and q4 in the face of iPhone 6, note 4, galaxy f, xperia z3 and z3 compact with real chipsets and a good difference from the q1 and q2 flagships.

The bad thing about amoled is that colours are rubbish. Good for the menus and for most people. If you want colour fidelity, IPS is the way to go, much better colours, even though blacks are not that deep and angles not that perfect.

M8 over s5:... moreYou have forgotten the superior music quality, caller clarity and Car Mode on the HTC M8. The kids mode already on the M8 and it also had on my last year M7 as well. I don't think minor processor clock speed difference makes a huge difference. In day to day usage, still M8 faster than the Galaxy S5. Both phones have the same Adreno 330 GPU.
I agree that S5 has tons of features, but the only matter is, are they useful to you or are you using them more often? There are better alternatives available for the Health & Fitness and Multitasking apps on the Play Store. There is a great app called "Multitasking" available for multitasking on Play Store. Finally, the fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S5 is not quite perfect. It's not accurate as the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5s. Sometimes I had to swipe the finger 2-3 times when I was using the Galaxy S5.
We don't have to buy a phone because of the tons of features and if we don't use them in our day to day usage. The most important thing is which phone gives the better user experience.

Dont listen to what people may say about the camera quality. its the best ive seen out there. depth and colour make all the difference. however the camera lens will scratch way too easily and is unusable after 4 months. im having to send mine back to be replaced (i hope). yes ofc im carefull but you'll need a specific lens cover for it, available if you google it. speakers, screen, ui, performance, are all the best of the best. cant complain about them at all. the glass screen is very resilient, ive heard no complaints and have none about it. that lens lets the whole thing down though. HTC give you the best phone you ever used with the best camera and make the lens out of rubbish.

s5 has better screen than one m8.but i dislike s5 because it lacks FM radio,stereo speakers + heavy UI.

S5 over m8:
Better screen
Water resistant
Finger print scanner, heart rate scanner and all other extra sensor's like gesture sensor, barometer etc
Camera
WiFi mimo( 2 WiFi antennas for double the WiFi speed)
Slightly powerful cpu and GPU.
Capacitive buttons ( personal preference Stert save the screen space)
Removable battery
Much more features in touchwiz like s-health, multi window, toolbox, private mode, kids mode etc.

Reasons..
Has a much cleaner smoother interface..
Naturally marginally better performance ..
Touchwiz in s5 is as heavy and laggy as it gets...its better than s4 touchwiz but still nowhere near sense 6..
Build quality and premium materials..though its upto owners choice..
Reasons s5 wins...cam and waterproof...but m8 cam is also pretty good...not a deal breaker...
Rest is upto you...

S5 is brighter, has infinite contrast, better sunlight legibility, better blanks, better color gamut, better viewing angles and is more efficient display.
M8 is a great phone and is better than s5 in many areas but not in display.
Regarding YouTube videos, you are viewing then on your limited gamut LCD computer which cant display real colors outside of sRGB. Additionally, the cameras of reviewers skew the white balance asks color temperature.
If you want to compare two displays, either go with the scientific tests it go and see them in person.
Don't mislead people here.

Prem, 29 Jul 2014In this price segment...camera should be more better than this...This phone ( HTC M8 ) has a dual cameras on the back, that one of them is a 4MP camera that use ultrapixel technology, and the other one is a depth camera, trust me you will not find these specifications in any other phone. and on top of that they put a 5MP front camera.
But if you want a high MP camera, then go for the new ( HTC E8 ) just like the ( M8 ) this one also has a 5MP front camera, however they dropped the depth camera, and they dropped the ultrapixel technology camera. and they replaced them with a single 13MP camera.

As I promised with HTC that I shall buy now HTC M8 instead of Samsung galaxy S5.
So I bought it today. Really it is a superb phone.
If Samsung will not care of their customers then they will lose them. I was an old customer of Samsung from galaxy till galaxy4 but smellted Samsung changed my mind when
customer did not get support from Samsung but HTC sent a new phone to that Samsung customer well done HTC..
