That's the Apple's magic. I have used an iPhone 4s as well and your comment found to be true. They have a very simple OS yet very powerful. That's why iPhones are so fluid and fast.

Mega is a prefix for million. That implies that if a camera is 1 MP, it has 1 million pixels in it's sensor.
There's no new tech used in the pixels making them ultra. And ultrapixel can't be compared to megapixel. An ultrapixel refers to a single pixel whereas a megapixel means a million pixels.
So htc m8 has a 4 megapixel ultrapixel camera and not a 4 ultrapixel camera. A 4 ultrapixel will mean the camera has only 4 pixels.
Now what's so special about these branded ultrapixels. The answer is nothing. Yes, there is nothing special in these pixels. They are the exact same in work. The specialty is in their size. They are bigger than normal pixels.
Have a nice day
It appears they can, I have to say I was dubious to start. The first version of the One (M7) was an amazing device and I struggled to see where it could be bettered. I was expecting essentially the same phone but with some extra gimmicks attached. It appears my concerns were misfounded as HTC have done a remarkable job to take the best bits from the M7 and improve upon them.
So let's start with the design; Overall from the front it looks like a sandwich of clear black in between the two grey speaker grills. And while the actual digital screen isn't edge to edge I quite like having that 5mm black edge framing the visible screen. The top speaker grill also houses the 5MP front facing camera and the ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and the LED. Round the side you'll find the volume rocker which sticks out just enough to be easily found, but not detracting from the overall sleekness. On the bottom is the USB port and the headphones jack has moved from the top on the M7 to the bottom. The power button sits lonely on top of the device. The power button is made flush to the phone, so it can be slightly tricky to find/press, and I can imagine might be tricky if you have larger fingers. The other thing with the power button is it's clear black, why is this? Well it's also an IR blaster, this is used to transmit Infra-Red signals to a TV, Sky Box, Hi-Fi etc as the phone can also act as your remote control. On the back is where you'll find the much talked about Dual Ultra-Pixel camera and accompanying flash, as well as another pinhole for the rear facing mic for use when capturing video's (in full 1080p HD).
The phone in it's entirety is surprisingly slim, and slightly heavier than it's older brother at 160g, I can only assume this is due to the extra metal put into the build of the phone. Not too heavy, but not light enough that you don't know you have it. It's a sleek design and the back is set on a slight convex so that it sits nicely in the palm and just feels natural to hold. The only downside to this is when you are lying the phone on a flat surface such as a table and typing a text or using the phone as it makes a slight wobble. The finish overall is of a high quality which would be expected of a flagship device from HTC, as with all HTC devices I've used I've found their build quality to be unsurpassable.
So what about the UI? Sense 6 has brought about some useful features and also like the design of the phone has taken the best bits of it's predecessor and improved upon this. New features are things like Extreme PowerSaver Mode which can kick in at around 10% battery and restricts almost all processes down to the essential life-support so as to ensure you have a working *PHONE* for as long as possible. The Dual UltraPixel camera allows for some great editing and if you get this phone you have to check out uFocus and the 3D effect.
So what else is new? Well, HTC have kept the IR Blaster into the power button. So by using the TV app pre-installed on the phone you can run a setup process to determine your, country, channels and hardware setup. Once done you can easily open the TV app, see recommended programs or all programs, press the image of the program you want to watch and it will select the channel for you. No more fighting over the remote! With the Sense TV app you can add remotes by room, so for example you could have a setup for your living room, and another for the bedroom etc. The only thing missing is I would have liked another app to be on the phone to allow you to just use the remote feature by itself. For example I have a wireless speaker which I take on holiday or outside if we're in the garden etc and I would like to have an app which could download or learn the remote codes for this without having to worry about the TV channels etc.
The dual front Boomsound speakers have been made even loader than the M7 and can be quite impressive when used in a fairly quiet surrounding as a small speaker. Playing music through it is just a joy, no tinny poor quality sound. And if you put the volume on max, the bass doesn't distort or feel un-natural. You really do need to hear it to believe it!
Still no megapixels? If you haven't already understood ultrapixels then there are some great guides as to the benefits of ultrapixels over megapixels on the HTC blog. But in essence, megapixels are great if supersizing your pictures to put on a billboard or a very large screen. But for daily usage ultrapixels offer a better clarity and image processing. This leads to far clearer images and pictures I've taken on my phone are in such high quality I've actually converted from using my Canon compact to just using the phone now as the images are actually better. The colours and clarity offered is amazing to see, especially on the HD screen you get with the One. Just another feature I urge anyone to see for themselves as you won't get the full experience until you actually try it. One great feature, and one I use a lot is the movie highlight feature which using some clever algorithms creates a short film of an event in your gallery and combines stills & moving images to create a kind of trailer for your event. Everyone I have shown this to is massively impressed, and it's yet another feature I'd suggest looking at for yourself to really see how good this is. And don't forget to try the in-built editing suite. It's a simple powerful tool to add some great effects like focus, 3D effect, cut & paste (yes, you can take a person from one photo and put them in another).
Overall there are many other features and technical detail I haven't gone into, but I've tried to cover off the parts which I think most people will relate to or use regularly. I can't emphasise enough how good this phone really is. If you are due an upgrade a would urge that you seriously consider the HTC One M8 as your next phone as it is a fantastic all-round device which offers something for everyone.
I received a HTC One M8 unit from HTC to review as part of a testing program. It was great to have a chance to test out this 2014 HTC’s flagship model with the much anticipated HTC Sense 6 and Android Kit Kat 4.4. The design of the phone itself is gorgeous - 90% metal unibody (weighing in at 160 grams) and soft curves along the edges (as compared to the 2013 HTC One model), it looks and feels solid in the hands like a premium smartphone should, especially the clarity of the stunning 5-inch, full 1080p HD display. Here are some of the features that I truly love about the new HTC One M8 :-
• DUO CAMERA with Ultrapixel and a dual colour flash. I really love taking photos with the HTC One M8. With the Duo Camera adding a depth sensor, I can make my images more professional looking with effects like Ufocus which allows me to choose the focus area of my image after I take my shots. There’s also the Foregrounder that allows me to choose from four variants; Sketch, Zoom Blur, Cartoon and Colorize. These are the two most frequent effects I use amongst the many others like Seasons, 3D Dimension Plus, Sticker, Copy & Paste and Touch Up. The 5 MP wide angle front facing camera is a great feature too as its clarity is the best I’ve seen so far for taking “selfie” or “wefie” photos. The Ultrapixel also works best in low light conditions. It gets the job done and done well. Of course, we are not talking about enlarging images to poster size.
• MOTION LAUNCH - Along with the HTC Sense 6, the HTC One M8 has this new feature which I love. A double tap on the screen is all you need to do to see the time. It turns the lock screen off and on! I love that I can prolong the life of the power button! A swipe downwards while phone is in sleep mode) activates the device that prompts you to say the name of the person you would like to call. There’s also Auto Answer which allows me to answer a call when I put the phone to my ear, done without touching the screen. Another great feature for those who have their hands dirty from eating some tasty buffalo wings or wet from washing dishes! Hahaha...
• HTC BoomSound – There is an improvement over the previous HTC One. The HTC One M8 is louder and delivers a richer tone through the dual frontal speakers as it has a new amplifier and speaker chambers.
Of course the micro SD card slot is a welcome feature here (up to 128GB!). I personally use a 64GB and find that there is more than enough space for an avid photographer like me. The battery performance has also been quite phenomenal, lasting me up to two days. I use the phone for taking lots of photographs, editing work, internet, music and light calls and texting. I guess it’s dependent on what sort of user one is. I would dare say that it would last more than two days for a light user for sure. Coupled with the availability of an Extreme Power Saving mode for those who are on the move and can’t quite get to charging the phone, the HTC One M8 performs exceptionally well and much longer! Of course, the BlinkFeed is still here, consolidating all my favourite news from different customize sources. With the latest HTC One M8, it’s the only ONE thing I need and rely on to connect with everyone and everything else!

It's a great phone. Very well constructed, with awesome materials and an outstanding performance in any field: browser, photography, sound and multimedia, gaming... I can't find a weak point on it. Maybe would look better with less bezels but it doesn't bother at all. You get used to it very fast and the Motion Launch options (double tap on screen to turn it on) is very useful and you get used to it very fast. I really recommend to everyone this phone. Also the SD expansion gives you the possibility to expand the memory of the phone.

AnonD-234697, 08 Jun 2014No it doenst ...though ur statement is true with samsung phones...my note 2 ( previous user ) ... moreThat's because both s3 and note 2 use a cortex a9 based processors and that particular chip has a tendency of slowing down or wearing out over almost an year. But believe me, these latest processors( cortex a15 or krait based) don't age up at least 3-4 years.
You won't notice slowing down on m8.
