I bought the phone the day it came out because I loved the M7 so much. At first I really like it. But after a few days, it's suuuuper slippery, it's top heavy, too tall, and the pictures are indeed washed out. Plus, I have the gunmetal and it already scratched on the back just by laying it on my table, whereas I never had a case on my M7 and the back is perfect.
I love HTC but this is kind of a disappointment. I love the gestures (double tap to wake up, etc.) and it's slicker and faster than the M7 (though not by much), but I can't get past the size and the picture quality. And I'm an HTC fan.
Due to the slippery, delicate feel, I put it in an Otterbox Commuter case. Now the phone is ginormous (almost phablet size) and heavy. It certainly won't fit in a front pocket of your jeans easily.
I'm torn between giving it more time, or returning and trying the S5 or Z2 or G3. They're all going to be huge phones, but at least they'll be lighter. I love the metal body, but if you have to cover it in a plastic case because it scratches so easily, then what's the point? Now you just have a heavier, plastic looking phone
Had resound, to Apple 5, back to droid w the M8. Love the phone. Design, sexy. Camera, despite the negative reviews I've seen, I like it. Could've been better but it has a fast focus and snaps one after another quickly. Flash is very bright. Interface, superb. Voice recognition and understanding is just about flawless. Siri doesn't stand a chance. ONLY COMPLAINT: it's a killer for me and over seen by many. You lose a lot of screen space w the notification bar on top, the menu buttons on bottom and the must have icon dock on top of that. Total lost space is just about 1.5" all together. 1" whenever you're not on the home screen. That bites. I feel I get cheated in the "bigger screen". SOLUTION: allow the notification bar to hide, the dock icons is a must have but the menu touch buttons below could've been on the bottom frame of the phone. "htc" centered logo should be the home button, the other 2 menu buttons beside it. Simple. For that reason I'm considering the Samsung. I hope HTC sees this and considers it on future phones. Otherwise, good phone.

This is a common problem that every phone camera has. Because, phone cameras has a small image sensor, unlike DSLR or digital cameras.

Megapixel amount doesn't reflect the quality of a photo. It's refer the resolution of a photo. Most people don't understand this. The quality of a camera depend on lens quality, image sensor or aperture size. Most people believe that higher megapixel cameras always give better quality photos than a lower megapixel camera. HTC don't concern about mp amount, they don't fool people by showing higher megapixels. All they focus on superiority of their cameras.
I'm currently using HTC M7. I have compared M7 camera with many high-end phones such as Galaxy s4, Lumia 925 and Xperia Z1. M7 can definitely beat S4 and Lumia 925. Some time it's even better than even Z1.
I hope that M8 camera will be even better.

Tw, 05 Apr 2014Really surprising for a mobile phone maker such as HTC trying to beat the market with their fl... moreyou do know that any decent camera lens that is large and 5mp will produce very good pictures, having a 13-16mp camera phone is a selling technique to make a phone sound awesome.
the lens size and how much light it lets in will determine how little noise in the picture is produced which then gives a cleaner looking picture, plus the camera cpu chip.
iphone 5s 8mp camera has a much better lens size and imaging chip than the 13mp-20mp of the z1,
