2. install Mobile Registry Editor on your computer.
3. connect your HTC s740 with your computer (e.g. by USB)
4. run Mobile Registry Editor on your computer. At this stage, Mobile Registry Editor will communicate with your HTC s740.
5. on Mobile Registry Editor, go to \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME
6. At this location, right click and add the following key to your registry
Value Name: CarrierDefaultTextMode
Value Data: 0
7. You are ready and the default now is supposed to be 'abc'
NOTE: During this procedure you are not using your HTC s740, but you are modifying the settings on your HTC s740 through your computer by using Mobile Registry Editor.

okay so from what ive rwead the reviews so that this is a very nice phone but it doesnt have a touch screen, i'd like to get a touch screen & the fact that ive always been a nokia fan....
what would you suggest??
i like the whole htc phones... but i'd like to get a touch screen.... i hope this makes scence.

I had the same problem and after researching on the net I finally found the solution. You have to slightly modify the registry of the phone. Don't worry it is not difficult.
Go to:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME
Add the following key to your registry:
Value Name: CarrierDefaultTextMode
Value Data: 0
In this way the default will be abc instead of xt9. If you have any difficulty leave your email and I will do my best to contact you back asap.

Don't have RESET BUTTON when the device hand?when the device hand,the device tell me press "send"button,i try do it,but all keypad also HAND!i try to put out bateri and ON device,but the same thing again.very disappointeded about this case for htc S740.

after long time I have this phone, it is perfect and really nice everything you want can find inside this phone. never hang or crash i think is the best but problem cover back not straight and you can not keep it on the floor.in UAE not available.
