is this version of vista any better then the one on actual pcs and notebooks?
Just called HTC Support here in norway. The device is coming to this cold country in about two weeks. So i called them and asked them about the VOICE calling on the Shift and support guy said "IT HAS NO VOICE CALL". So there you got it , called them 10 mins ago and thats what they said. (you can still make calls via skype).

I dont really think its very handy used as a phone, a laptop would be definately better
Official word for this device at the moment is that it will not support a phone feature.
It won't work as a GSM / 3 G phone for voice calls , the SIM slot is just for GSM/EDGE/3G/HSDPA - data transfer , if service is offered by the mobile provider
Here's a pic of the SIM slot.
And here's a nice video review of HTC Shift
Alrite, Confirmed that Shift has mobile phone features.
Copy Paste The above link and see that in the specifications. It does have a SIM card slot.
It says Quadband GSM support. Now why would it have that if it were not to make phone calls with.
Correct me if wrong.
