i just read on some random site that htc is shipping newer versions of the diamond to europe this past week, probably with the ROM updated, and initial reports are that the lag problems have been seen to.. whether that's true or not, i'll let people "in the know" decide

of its slow or even dead motion.
I try to change for a Diamond, but,
after knowing your comments, I would like to
give up both.
Does anyone know for sure whether the diamond supports HSUPA as well? Specs from when they were first announced say it does support the faster upload but the HTC official website has no mention of it, just saying it supports HSDPA up to 7.2Mbps download speed?? Can anyone clarify please?
Passerby, 26 Jun 2008Exile, Have They Finished Producing The "1st Gen" HTC Diamonds And When It Goes On Sale In The... morePasserby,
I am not entirely convinced whether they have finished producing , distributing and thereby selling the first generation of diamonds, usually, for high end phones, such as this, they would have produced atleast 250,000 units to ship at release.
So my sincere suggestion is that either you connect directly to HTC in Taiwan, (please be warned, they are slow and almost zero in their ability to respond) or find out from the better carriers, like O2 (uk), Tmobile and Orange , to ascertain whether the new ROMs are arriving as yet,
also, you should, try for the XDA orbit 2 (touch cruise) its a very good machine, well sorted out, specially the orbit 2,
i travel to UAE a lot and sadly, teh level of customer care and product knowledge that the HTC appointed reps have in that region , is abysmal, so they will agree blankly, to whatever you are asking them, in such places, it is best to ask them a direct question "is this the version with the updated ROM?"
8 times out of 10 , you will still receive a non committal reply,
regards
I'm not sure what everyone is on about with the belief that there is a new ROM or an upgrade in software. Yes, I bought one of the early versions which might explain why mine was very sluggish/slow. But I just tried out a few other peoples, including someone that just bought theirs yesterday (from a different country I might add) and its all the same. So whether its HTC hype or people justifying their purchases I doubt there are actually changes. At the end of the day, we will all probably decide for ourselves what we want to belief and those of us that want this phone (like I did) will buy one anyway. I'm just saying, it was really miserably slow. I change my phones pretty much every month so I know a slow WM6.1 device when I see it. In fact, I found this slower than the HTC Touch Cruise I had which had a slower processor. Is it the new Touch Flo 3D? Maybe its the new Windows. Whatever it is, there is a problem here. I'm hoping future ones, including those from HTC improve a lot.

I agree with your opinion. Sadly, new products in almost all categories are being shipped out to the consumers, without being fully developed and tested,
partially due to pressures from competitors, and from supposed market indicators, cost and financial accounting practices, etc
products should be tested thoroughly by experts, rather than amateurs, who are beta testers, just for the sake of getting first access to new products,
HTC were already hurting from bad press due to graphics chip and video playback drivers in the recent past, this product will only add to that stigma.
the company should listen to comments and suggestions from experts / power users before releasing new products,
i also would like to point out that in the initial previews of an obviously under developed product, several websites have given GREAT comments and positive feedback to the diamond, i think that internet / magazine reviewers have a greater collective responsibility to gauge products objectively, rather to follow the middle of the road scenario, thereby ensuring a good continual rapport with equipment manufacturers,
Looking at the information posted on the web, it looks like as if the 1st few HTC Diamonds That Were Shipped, Sim-Free Were All The One That Suffered The Sluggish Interface But The Brand New One That Are Being Shipped Seemedf To Have All Those Problems Solved By A Change In The ROM Module And A Software Update, Why HTC Couldnt Do This At The Beginning So That Its Popularity Could Go Up I Do Not Know, Maybe They Were Asking A Couple Of Crack Addicts When They Did The Market Research I Dont Know But Certainly The Newer Versions Of The Phones Seem To Working Perfectly - Just How The Company Intended It To Work In The First Place But The Ones That Are Being Shipped To The Major Netwroks In The Uk .. Are They Going To Be The Older Versions Or The Newer Ones .. ? .. Because They Usually Make Them Like Months In Advance And They Dont Release Them Until Much Later On .. Can Anyone Answer This And Does ANyone Know Of A Release Date For The Uk .. ? ..
Ok people lets gets some facts... Box version of the phone is not good at all.. but it can be improvment by the ROM update... Is that so? what's got ROM to battery life.. it's still 900mAh xD Is there any official information about new ROM from HTC or similiar developers? Because HTC is hymmmm so quaiet about all the things what is going on with this diamond...

iphone Rules!Greetings Anonymous,
Yes, as far as the GUI and overall user experience is concerned, the Iphone does rule, sadly, the Iphone is not a true business phone, so it can be lived with as a fashion statement (its really very good at that) , but not as a business phone , which is expected to double its chores as a full laptop replacement, almost at all junctures

Ok, I'm really getting frustrated and disappointed here. The disappointing part is that the touch UI is indeed sluggish. The frustrating part is that there's word of a ROM upgrade but it is not legitimately available to those who bought this phone when it came out. And when you do your own research on upgrading from some developers, they use language that seems to be english, yet does not mean anything to me. I wish there's an easier and more accessible way of upgrading the ROM of early Diamond buyers.
