i just want to share my experience after few days using touch diamond: i am trying to get rid of the phone because there are too many things not working!
-no sound alert when you receive an SMS with the device in sleeping mode: this means you always have to keep the device with screen on! Battery will last only few hours and whenever you touch the screen you will activate some functions so you cant carry it in your pocket for example!
-no alarm when the device is off
-already 1 unit replaced because there are not spare parts in the service center in singapore
-so many other functions are not working and too many bugs (i should write for hours...)
PLEASE AVOID TO BUY THIS MOBILE!

Review...

" Ditching Internet Explorer for the Opera Mobile browser the browsing experience on both Wi-Fi and HSDPA is, to put it plainly, beautiful. It is the first device we've seen that gets anywhere close to Apple's iPhone browsing experience and the increased speed capabilities if you are in coverage make surfing very quick... "

And as others have reported, its very slow. The lag between pressing buttons and something happening is huge.

The screen and keypad disappear when on a call, which is totally useless if calling automated answering machine numbers, even when calling voicemail.

Quite disappointing all up

Had the phone 3 weeks. The Battery life is very poor. Less than 12 hours most days. The screen is good. Great resolution. The internal memory battery doesnt work. The 4GB internal memory gets completely wiped blank when the phone battery runs out (which is often)

must confess that i also feel let down, as mentioned earlier in the posts, i returned mine within 6 hours of owning it,
its an undercooked product,

i wish phone manufacturers would have let apple carry on with their direction, rather than trying emulating it, it has not been a success, i have tried the apple, but sadly it lacks several key features which are essential for a business phone,

i am now looking to acquire the htc touch (solid product. although frumpy) , or the 3470, which has much lesser features but is actually a very good product,

better luck next time , i guess,regards

I've had the HTC now for nearly a month. It has been a pretty big disappointment. I'm such a huge HTC fan, but his was a huge let-down.

At the core of my problem is the OS. I'm not sure what it is but it's extremely SLOW. And I mean slow. Push a button, wait 3 seconds while the handset changes. Touch Flo, WM6.1 - whatever, it just doesn't work. It's so frustrating trying to just dial a person because it takes more than a few seconds for the phone/keypad to appear so you can dial out. The worse though is the browser. Both Opera and Internet Explorer are horrible. It takes forever to load, and when you zoom in or zoom out, it takes another 10 seconds to load each change - drives me crazy. Some pages don't load properly - for example, the "box" on Yahoo Mail doesn't work so I can't REPLY to e-mails.

Another frustration I have is that the screen is actually much smaller because you get the top and bottom "bars" (aka "taskbars") that basically make the 2.8" screen into a 2.4" screen. I didn't trade up to get a smaller screen!

I do like the google maps and how it can now locate you based on triangulation of base stations as well as GPS. It is very small, thin and light.

I had the opportunity to try out the Omnia the other day and for a WM6.1 device, that works. It was much faster (though not iPhone quick) than the Diamond. I'll be trading up for that though I am not a very big Samsung fan, when I can get around to it.

Meanwhile, I hope HTC listens and does something because it was a very nice looking phone. Too bad.

facts, 24 Jun 2008" HTC begins shipping its Diamond handset with updated TouchFLO interface... " http://www.mobi... moreNice. How about those people who bought this when it came out? They better make the upgrade available to those people as well, or else, they would have a lot of angry customers.

@exile,
IMO not such a big questionmark. As you say, firmware upgrade needed to "rectify an obvious issue"... so must be covered by *warranty* .

facts, 24 Jun 2008" HTC begins shipping its Diamond handset with updated TouchFLO interface... " http://www.mobi... moreGood of you Facts, to post the link, sadly but not surprisingly, if you notice, there is a big question mark as to whether existing Diamond users will be able to rectify an obvious issue with the first release,(htc would not have developed the new firmware if all was well)

so what am i looking at then? ,,,, 800 USD down the tube? they just needed to develop the product further, wait another 3 weeks before the launch, considering that the new firmware is going to appear about a month after the initial launch,

its very unfair for existing users,

regards
exile

Francis, 24 Jun 2008Hkboi2002, Im wondering whether the phone has a real GPS-receiver or only A-GPS (data transfer... moreGoogleMaps is incredible. Just type in name of whatever you looking for (like tesco, mcdonalds, bicycles, tube sweets, fruits) and in seconds you will have the closest shops/points on map. Excellent. But it uses data connection all the time. BTW: why you data conn is expensive? I am on pay as you go and i pay £2.50 for 5 days unlimited internet in HSDPA and 3G. Thats expensive?
