ive had this phone for over a year, at first i thought it was good but befor long i started to dislike it, every once and a while when the phone was in my pcoket the power button would be hit and for some reason the first thing the phone would do is start caling people in my resent calls list. when talking on the phone if you forgot to turn the screen off your face would start opening up lots of programs. the web brouser was very slow and often could not load pages causein the phone to freez.
even switching through pages like home, weather, setings, and favorites was slow. overall i had a bad experiance with this phone i have since switched to a 3gs 16gig iphone and there is no comparison
I have great experience with this phone (diamond).
Fully customizable.
But there is one problem, the battery capacity is too small and dries quickly when used to access the internet (browsing, chatting). Anyone can give help/advice with diamond battery problem?
I have had this phone for over a year and have a love/hate relationship with it.
This phone works find for 30% of the time and then starts to behave stupidly/unreliably when it begins to run low on memory (more than 50% of the program memory has to be kept free). For example, I have been browsing and been unable to answer an incoming call because the phone has frozen up. While it had done this it buffered up all my keystrokes and executed them once it had come back to life and proceed to terminate the phone call. This was the final straw! Basically this phone will let you done when you need it the most, either by running out of battery or doing nothing at all (so I also carry my old Nokia N95). Please don't purchase this phone.
HTC are very good at putting in the latest technology for WinMo phones. But the TouchFlo UI is a very nice but very, very simplistic attempt to cover up the arkwardness of the Windows Mobile OS. Compare this to Samsung TouchWiz UI, Samsung's effort is truly superb and I am referring to their implementation on the original i900 Omnia phone. This is the phone I am now using and has been working flawlessly, even when running two different browsers, writing note and running a Java browser too, no crashes, no slowdowns, it just works.
I miss two features from the HTC Touch Diamond phone, the wheel button that lets you zoom in and out and the higher resolution of the screen.
I am looking forward to moving onto the Samsung i8000 phone and will be avoiding the WinMo HTC phones.
Also, it would be really useful if GSM Arena did long term tests of phones as well as rating the specification.
Makror, 31 Dec 2009I bought the Diamond a week ago and so far it's doing great, not the best HTC phone I know but... morewhat kind of battery you use ?
Makror, 31 Dec 2009I bought the Diamond a week ago and so far it's doing great, not the best HTC phone I know but... morevery good and true review for this phone
btw i have this phone 3 months now and i love it
I had QTek S200, HTC P3600, HTC Touch Dual, HTC Vairy and now HTC Diamond... All off them except vairy are great phones in their time... Diamond is the best one... Really Great phone!!!
I bought the Diamond a week ago and so far it's doing great, not the best HTC phone I know but still very good, I like the size it's quite small and easy to handle.
Intalled GPS software Nav N Go iGO 8 and it works perfectly, it works faster than my car GPS! The skype mobile 3.0 also works fine and I can call people who are online on skype and saves me some money!
Battery is decent 4 to 5 days and I do use it a lot, wi-fi on almost all the time, I go on the web, check e-mails and make lots of calls everyday!
People do complain about the speed a lot and it's not a fast windows mobile device, I've seen faster devices but I don't think it's slow enough to be a problem the speed on mine at least is reasonable and if you consider what this phone can do and compare it to it's size and portability I think the speed is amazing!
Touch screen is good and quite sensitive for a resistive screen but even with the HTC software you will eventually need to interact with the windows mobile and when doing so the use of a stylus pen is sometimes unavoidable even if you have small fingers, hence the fact the phone comes with a stylus and a slot for it, which is magnetic by the way, very cool!
Well I'll come back and make more comments when I have more time with the device, these opinions above are not final!
the touch is pretty responsive, if not then upgrade your firmware.
I tried putting on Windows mobile 6.5 on it today but I couldn't. I don't know why.. I have the bootloader on which makes ROM's that are third parties go in... But when I'm putting on the ROM it stays at 0% all the time.. ;/
Can anyone help there too?

It's not a problem when you use the T9 on phone keypad mode.. I have small fingers than adults because I'm 14 :))
PS Can someone advise me what to get as a backup phone if this dies?
I'm thinking about a Nokia 5530 or a Nokia E63. Please help!!!! AND NOT TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!!!
I am using HTC phones since 4 years, P3450 then HTC Touch and now Diamond, had a good experience with the first two, but diamond is horrible.
Slow, Control Keypad difficult to use, difficult to type messages and the worst the Touch Screen problem which i seem HTC has a technical design nag. You need to keep aligning the screen again and again until one day it stops working and you need to take it to service center. What if the phone is not in warranty??
i found htc smart phones to be the bomb of innovation
LightSpeed, 18 Dec 2009If Xperia came in first, I would have settle for it. Nevertheless I don't regret having Touch ... moreYes i know!!

LightSpeed, 10 Dec 2009For your information, Xperia is made by HTC. Of course, you won't find the name HTC in the dev... moreYes, of course i know!!
But lets be honest... Sony Ericssons smartphone....
