In short: Toy NOT tool.
The hardware is nice, apart from the ugly and very impractical back side that doesn't allow it to be operated on a table!! A mouse pad or similar soft material is needed(!?!?!).
WM6 stinks like the old Win3.0!!! VERY unstable. Have had the phone for about a month and needs a hard reset installing and setting everything from scratch about once a week (takes about 40 minutes). If you're not a 'nerd' and plan using your phone for a stable platform for work then look elsewhere!!
BUT if you can live with interrupted calls, inability to always answer calls, sms not always sent to all recipients, sudden lockups, missing notifications, chopped music playback, and other typical Microsucks behavior. Then this IS a nice gizmo.
BUT as I said initially see this as a nice toy with a lot of features that are fun to play with, don't expect a stable work tool. And consider having your old phone in your bag...
With a little luck and with their usual speed Microsucks will be able to create a stable os for mobiles within a few decades...
Meanwhile lets hope their competitors can do better...

Ashish, 31 Oct 2008All windows based mobiles are battery hungry. This is because even when you close applications... moreTo end your running applications.
1. Click on start and then click on settings.
2. Then select system from the 3 tabs at the bottom.
3. Open Task Manager
4. Click on Stop All or select the programs you want to stop and then click on stop selected.
Select "Button" tab from the below 4 tabs, check the "Enable the 'X' button to end running programs". Then select "End programs by tapping ''X". This is the first option"
Now, whenever you close programs, they will also unload from memory thereby saving your battery. Also, never keep your wi-fi or GPRS connections active all the time. They are also battery hungry.

Darkman, 31 Oct 2008To Nick:
Hello Nick, the phone is surely capable of playing DivX movies. It has had some RO... morewell the thing with the omnia is that with a WQVGA screen, there is no point trying to run a VGA film on it because the quality cannot be shown on the poor screen.
likewise with the 5800 xpress, it is certainly capable of playing VGA because my old N95 could but again the screen isnt VGA so it is wasted
Anonymous, 28 Oct 2008it's a good thing u didnt ahve money to buy it. im selling mine for half the price, if i dont ... moreAll windows based mobiles are battery hungry. This is because even when you close applications they still run in the background.
To solve this when you close the program, go to task and kill the running tasks. For more information on how to do this contact me on email@example.com
This will increase your battery life.
Meteor, 30 Oct 2008Hi Arash and everybody Does the htc weather work in iran? ThnxYes. If you set your irancell-intern and choosing your city, it works!
Hello Nick, the phone is surely capable of playing DivX movies. It has had some ROM update, but I don't know which, since it isn't my phone. I can recommend the player made by DivX, I tried others but without success. I put on the phone a really high quality DVD rip movie and played it. Watching the high quality screen is a pure pleasure :-) Although SOMETIMES (only sometimes!) one can experience some lagging, but as I say, it is very watchable.
Now I am looking for the answers of the same question about Nokia 5800 and Samsung Omnia :-)
I have this model and I am very disappointed. After a week telefone start to have problem with wi-fi and after one day whem problem apear telefone crash. I go to warranty service and in aprox two weeks they give me back .I receive the telefone in the afternoon and when I come back home telefone was "dead". Again I give them to repair and after aprox 3 weeks (yesterday) they return my the telefone. Now I hope it will work but I hope I can seel it.
I am planning on getting this phone. But I was wondering if the problem with the battery life is because of the hardware running in the background on standby, like wireless / bluetooth etc....coz if so, the phone can be used for a longer time by turning them off i guess???
I like the look and features of the phone from reading about it but the feedback on the battery life makes me think otherwise.
Would appreciate some feedback on this.. thanks
