I think I have made up my mind (finally lol) and will be getting the Touch Pro 2, it provides all that I need (I was looking for part phone and part laptop in this handset, with the capability for alot of effortless typing! so the keyboard should be perfect) and a free upgrade to WM 6.5 round the corner.
I'm loving the screen size and resolution, cpu could be a bit quicker but hopefully this wont affect the WM 6.5 experience!!!
I just know though that as soon as I buy this, HTC will release a new phone with faster CPU (600mhz) and the Nvidia Tegra chipset lol, supposebly the rumoured Touch HD successor?
Dan, 24 Jun 2009Still totally undecided even more so now I see the HTC Hero is coming out next month in Europe... moreHero is an android phone, and won't come out until October, if you wait until then, you might as well wait for the much better ones later..
I Really Recommend the Touch Pro 2:
Last year we compared the diamond with the Pro.. The pro was better because of the following:
2- Better battery cover
3- Better Battery Life
4- Camera Flash
5- 100mb more Ram and double Rom
6- Memory card slot
7- TV out
I mean that's an upgrade, and even the blind would choose the Pro..
But your case, its different, The similarity is confusing you here.. So let me help you with this:
Even though the first pro was better than the Diamond, people still had their eyes set on the diamond, it's one of the most beautiful and elegant phones..
The Pro 2 however, has its shape and build quality to its advantage.. The Diamond 2 was a mistake when it came to the screen size, the Zooming bar and hardware button plus that void space took alot of it.. You'll understand if you own The touch HD, with the touch sensitve, and the same zooming bar hardware from the diamond in a 10X56mm little pad , that explains the huge 3.8" in a rather slim device.. Touch HD was built right!.. So if there was an upgrade from the HD its definitely to the Pro 2.
If there is another device now that is built right, its the touch pro 2.. The feel of it, the elegance, huge screen, the pre-amped speakers, despite the camera now, this phone is a definite laptop replacement, just like the Kaiser (TYTN II) Days..
Plus people are complaining about entering text with the diamond 2's on-screen keyboard..
I hope this helps, Cause my hands are itching me to upgrade from my HD to Pro 2 too.. =P
Still totally undecided even more so now I see the HTC Hero is coming out next month in Europe, how do you think this will fair to the Diamond 2/Pro 2???
Dan, 24 Jun 2009I am torn between Diamond 2 and Pro 2, I cannot decide, anyone tell me? keyboard not important... moreI have seen the diamond2 but it seems that the build quality and apperance of the pro2 is better. I do not like the quality of the diamond2. Look at both of them before you buy. Physical apperance matters.
Dan, 24 Jun 2009Thanks two people that answered, one said go for Pro 2 and the other Diamond 2. lol
I'm sti... moreIf you text a lot, you answered your question. Touch pro2 is the best option, you will feel free while using it. The virtual keyboard takes some space from the 3.2" screen on the touch diamond 2. If the size matters, you can go for the touch diamond 2 as it is thinner.
Personally, I have the touch pro1, and I am going to get the touch pro2 ISA.
Hope this helps.
By the way, of the two (and the reason I'm still considering it) the Diamond 2 in my opinion looks much much nicer.
If the touch keyboard is good enough I would probably go for this.
Thanks two people that answered, one said go for Pro 2 and the other Diamond 2. lol
I'm still stuck, I'm going to order one of them later today but I still have no idea which one, here's what I'll use it for:
1. Business - Mainly emails, some typing but not a huge amount, gps, facebook, linkedin, twitter?
2. Leisure - Texting ALOT (i am going for unlimited texts), not really going to be phoning a whole lot
So I guess on that score a keyboard is pretty important or is it, can I achieve all of the above without a big deal on the touch Diamond 2?
What would you recommend guys? this phone needs to last me 18 months or so (and I will upgrade to WM 6.5).
