sms, 27 Dec 2008Why do people compare this with iphone. Ipone is good with its UI and the Browser. Thet rest i... moremaybe the right term to use is "they are not WM oriented or have no idea how WM works"

true its complicated and challenging for other people(me) that makes this phone a toy. like mod. tweaks, and other issue a WM can deliver. :D

its like if you know lots about computer (software wise and hardware wise you will not get hard dealing with this device.

Tucks, 27 Dec 2008well theres a wvga fix which basically reduces the screen to vga screen and looks really gastl... more True WM has a wide range applications. and a wide range of software developer for a wM devices with a wvga screen.

Search and you shall find. it gives me some challenge in finding applications that i like. be it a hacked... or a genuine application that i bought.

although a dedicated app store is not a bad idea if they're gonna listen.....

This works with some stuff. and most apps will say, ''this is not a valid pocket pc application''. arrrrrggggghhhh!! QVGA won't work either. Not sure if a way around this has been created yet. Supposedbly alot of the apps are being modified for this handset, but what truth there is in that and which apps will benifit from this I do not know.

I basically had a big toss up between a few handsets. The I-phone being one of them. Due to it's smooth UI and app store, the app store is amazing with no compatability issues and really well made and well presented apps.

But none the less I bought this phone, mainly because of the incredible screen, decent camera (for a smartphone), processing power and usability, and also for a large selection of applications. But I am dissapointed. Everyone owns an i-phone and i sort of wanted to proove that it is not the best phone around (multimedia-wise). But I am finding this very hard to do.

WE NEED A DEDICATED APP STORE FOR HTC HD, WHERE WE'RE NOT RIPPED OFF AND COMPATABILITY IS NOT AN ISSUE OR STATED WHETHER IT WILL BE COMPATILBLE WITH OUR PHONES OR NOT.I HATE THE IPHONE BUT ONLY BECAUSE IT'S TAKING THE PISS OUT OF US. HTC NEED TO DO SOMETHING. Or some genius, I would love to do it but unfortunatley i'm not that clever!

Ipone is good with its UI and the Browser. Thet rest is just sh...t. Why don't you compare this with other things such as the camera, the MMS, the file transfer and so on so on. Ipone is no comparsion to this, to the Omnia, to Innov8, to Nokia N95, N96 and N97, Iphone is just a toy because it is easy to use that fits easy persons. People don't want complicate things that why that think ipone is better. That's not true, ipone is for people that do not have brains. They don't think as they are just kids.

Anonymous, 24 Dec 2008Is this a smartphone or pocketpc?? Don't know which file to download?Windows Mobile software commonly refered as Pocket PC or commonly PPC. Smartphone now refers to Symbian because Nokia hijacked the term :)

If you want to know, PPC is what they call it when the platform was first released. I remembered I have the first ever Ipaq and was promoted as a PPC mostly because they havne't gone around calling it Windows Mobile. By I believe WM2002/03, it began to move away from the PPC tag and towards standard WM designation.

Just to clarify, I think people who haven't used a WinMo device don't understand the WinMo platform. Like the Windows desktop version, out of the box it does things. But do more and you get other software. The same with WinMo. Out of the box don't expect a Nokia or Sony Ericsson. What it lacks in functionality out of the box it more than makes up with third party software. That's how WinMo works. Not the cookie cutter assembly line of other smartphones. You want more functions, get the right software for you and use it.

I've used a 16m colour Nokia and before that a 262k Sony Ericsson phone now 65k WinMo from HTC. There is a perceivable difference but it may be a manufacturer issue and from a user point of view, probably can't see the impact most of the time. Anyway, if you want good user experience, screen size is more important. I switched from 2.0" to 2.2" now 2.6". Personally, I'm not going back to anything less than 2.6".

this phone is reallly getting to me at the moment, nearly everything is incompatilbe with wvga at the moment, can't download many new apps or games, and if i am able to then i need to reduce the screen res. What's the point in that! one of the main selling features was the lovely 3.8'' widescreen. If anyone can help me out and point me in the right direction I would be very appreciative.

I think this is one of the best smartphone available in the market. But this phone can be the best or the perfect if htc changes the following to the existing htc hd without changing its size and design.

                                1) Use android or new version of winmobile as an operating system.
                                2) Use better camer and flash. 5mp is enough.
                                3) Dedicated sound chip for music and two stereo speakers on sides.
                                4) Use capacitive touch screen technology instead of resistive screen. As for text input for asia, they can come up with new stylus which can be written over capacitive screen. This way, only human finger and special stylus will be sensitive to screen.

I just can not wait if htc do the above mentioned changes. They have the greatest phone at their disposal....all need to do is little changes here & there.
