This is the best phone in the market but no US version. I wish htc would make US version with android.....keeping all other stuffs same as in this.
Oh! Too much expensive $750. I have to buy Nokia 5800 at price $460. I already see them at the time. HTC screen is wider than Nokia, but the color of Nokia is nicer in viewing pictures.
I just had my HTC Touch HD for a couple of days now. I love it love it love it.
I'm a bit worried by the quality of the sound on the calls. I keep getting like a static interference. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm not that tecchy so I don't know if it's got something to do with the network I'm on. I'm in London so it's nothing to do with signal strength. I just keep getting this crackling noise.
I'm still within my 7 day return period and I'm wondering whether I should be sending my phone back for replacement before my time runs out....
If it's a general flaw with the phone I can live with it... otherwise I might send back for a replacement handset as apart from this I can't fault the phone at all.

I am happy with the phone as I have realised that the Touchflo menu system is more user friendly than the Windows system (Although it takes time to get your head around the Touchflow system and reference to the operating manual is a must).
I must also add that I recently downloaded a hotfix from the HTC website which is supposed to shorten the time taken for a program to react after pushing an on screen button - I hadn't personally noticed there were any long delays previously.
The battery life is just over two days of normal use (Phone calls, texting, email checking, playing poker, internet browsing and light use of Word and Excel) - I must add the battery life is better than Tytn model which would only last one day.
Charge time, usually takes about two and a half hours from empty (Accompanied by a warning exclamation) to completely full using the dedicated plug.
Size and weight: I can operate the device in one hand (I have relatively small hands for a bloke) using my thumb, but the handset is a bit too large to put in your trouser pocket whilst trying to drive a car. A work colleague has the iPhone and the devices are similar in overall size, feel and weight.
Call quality: The call quality is surprisingly very good. The Tytn model before had awful call quality by comparison.
Irritating aspects: Incoming text messages are notified by sound accompanied by vibrate (You have to set it up to vibrate) - there is no flashing of the screen to indicate a new message so often I only see my texts hours later.
Selecting multiple entries/messages/emails is not a simple select and drag operation - this needs to be performed using three clicks on menus.
I have not been able to schedule email checking yet - I may need to refer to the manual as it doesn't seem obvious at first glance.
When I started looking for a new phone I narrowed it down to the Blackberry Storm, Samsung Omnia and HTC Touch HD (I excluded the iPhone on the basis it doesn't have Word or Excel and I didn't need another multimedia device). My boss at work owns the Omnia and he advised against getting it as it uses 3G for phone calls and while talking on the phone if it loses the 3G connection it drops the call. If you try calling again and it reverts to GPRS to make the call and it is again able to pick up the signal in 3G midway through the call, it will drop the call again so it can change to the 3G network. Again this is the word from my boss and I have no reason to question his experience...he is what some would describe as a heavy phone user. One of the structural engineers at work has a Blackberry Storm but has said it freezes often trying to use the camera and uses up the battery in a short space of time if browsing the internet.
I would have liked to have tried the Touch Pro as having a slide out keyboard is preferable for heavy use or constant data input. As I am a moderate user and have perfected using keypad entry with word completion for all programs I am satisfied with their operation...also the fact that the handset is a lot thinner without the slide out keyboard helps too.
Fekile Mofonedi, 18 Dec 2008Can someone pls tell me when will this powerful winmo be available in South AfricaI was at Nashua Mobile yesterday. They say that they would get stock next week.
Can someone pls tell me when will this powerful winmo be available in South Africa
Is anyone able to give a direct comparison between the Touch HD and the Touch Diamond?
Has anyone owned both?
Which was preferred and why?

sorry, typo error.. is 3600mah x2 battery and slim in size.
that's is a fact that the china hp battery 2600mah capacity and the battery size is "slim", and every china Hp come together with 2 battery..means per charge can last at least 1 month....
my fren using it to watch tv on HP 1-3 hours per day and the battery still can last > 10 days
batterylife for "heavy usage" must last at least 2 days.
manufacturer shld look into high density battery(2800-3600mah) like china HP which their batterylife can last at least 2 weeks. if the imitation china hp manufactuter "can" , any acceptable reason to us why most tops manufacturer cant???
they just havent have the intention to improve their WM based products.
i just cannot bisness Hp batterylife too short, i only consider WM phone if they(all manufacturers) can come out a phone with middle usage still last 3-4 days. HP need charge per day is indeed a disaster to me...
if forget to charge battery 1 day, all bisness interaction die....
we pay to get service and assistant but not get frustrated things...
Jack, 14 Dec 2008Hi Paul,
thank you for offering your time.
I would like to know how user-friendly the touch-... moreHi Jack,
With regards to user friendliness and using the T9 keypad to type:
I managed to switch from keyboard to keypad layout for all programs, although I had to download the operating manual to figure it out.
The word recognition works very well (As well as a Nokia 6600 slide), but if you are used to text words like hun and tomoz it battles with those and you have to manually type them in - it does remember the shortened words after you have typed them several times but stores them at the end of all suggested words which can take a few arrow clicks to get to.
As for a phone lock, I haven't mistakenly dialled anyone yet.
In the settings>Personal>Buttons>End key
The handset has the following option
"Automatically execute the selected action: Lock device"
I have quickly tested the phone by pushing the power button (To switch off) located on the top right outer edge of the handset to and tried tapping all the buttons on the lower part of the handset to activate the screen and nothing has happened (i.e. it hasn't accidently switched itself on).
I have also phoned the handset and it cannot be answered by tapping the screen, the button has to be slid across to either accept or reject the call. Unfortunately tapping the talk/send button at the lower part of the handset will connect the call.
can this phone send and receive fax??????
if the service is already provided by the network????
still the problem battery is very very boor 3.8 inc
