ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs during the CE ROM code upgrade process. If this happens, you can just soft reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue. At this stage the rom on the device is incomplete and it will not boot back up into Windows. You will need to place it into the bootloader to continue.

Hi Anthony
First i cant get the latest ROM from the HTC. Besides that i downloaded all the required s/w for update with Dutty's ROM 3.7XT Final. But the problem is when i try to run the 1st step of running HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156Olinex.exe it goes till the status bar and then after a min it gives me an error 262:Update error. it says the ROM Utility has encountered a communication error and then it stops. i have tired this on both XP & Vista but i keep getting the same error on both the platforms. Any idea as to y that is. Please advise. Thank you very much

buy HD if you want thinner phone and no moving parts
HD can have same interface as pro 2 with cooked rom so is just down to the above two.

Thank you for the upadte, i will try out the steps but b4 doingt hat i would lik... more you can go back to a original rom if you unlock your spl with hspl. but you will still have to find an original rom. that's why I said to update your rom from the htc site first if you can. that would do 3 things..
1. you would have a copy of a updated original rom backed up on your pc.
2. your phone would be updated to the 1.56 rom and your usb drivers would be updated as well (decreasing the chance of getting an error) because the cooked roms are based on the 1.56 original rom.
3. you would have gotten practice on flashing roms (with a original rom)
the link I gave to "duttythory" site is to get the cooked roms, he has
1.. wm6.1 rom with diamond2 interface for HD.
2.. wm6.5 rom with diamond2 interface for HD.
3.. wm6.1 original roms
Dutty's XT 3.7 was the latest when the flashing guide was updated, not any more.
but duttythory site is of no use till you change your spl to hspl after that flashing is done the same way as a original rom.
