HTC Windows Mobile Touch UI Touch HD

HTC Touch HD

HTC are also on the move on a day full of Windows Mobile action. HTC Touch HD is now official and the name pretty much says it all: a high definition screen and touch-based navigation only.

Running on a 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU, HTC Touch HD uses 288 MB of RAM (the same amount as the HTC Touch Pro). Even with a stunning 3.8" screen of WVGA resolution (480 x 800 pixels), the Touch HD measures the acceptable 115 x 62.8 x 12mm. It packs quad-band GSM and dual-band (900/2100 MHz) 3G (with HSDPA) support. Our guess is a second version to cover American 3G frequencies is in the pipeline.

A whole load of features puts the Touch HD at the top of the HTC portfolio. The TouchFLO 3D user interface is hardly any news but the 5 megapixel autofocus camera is one of a kind in the family. Another notable first-timer is the 3.5mm standard audio jack. The list of extras also includes Wi-Fi, GPS (with A-GPS functionality), Bluetooth (with EDR and A2DP) and USB. The microSD memory expansion slot is there too.

HTC Touch HD will be powered by a 1350 mAh Li-Po battery and will weigh 146.4 grams. This might sound as quite a load but the spec sheet is well worth it. There's no word on availability or pricing at this point.

HTC Touch 3G

Meanwhile, another device beamed on the HTC website, which honestly, caught us unawares. The HTC Touch 3G is slightly taller and thinner than its predecessor – the original HTC Touch. The main improvements of the 3G version include a 3.2 megapixel fixed-focus camera, 3G with HSDPA, as well as 192 MB of RAM. HTC Touch 3G also flaunts the newest version of the TouchFLO UI – the TouchFLO 3D - and GPS (with A-GPS support).

The quad-band HTC Touch 3G has a 2.8" display of QVGA resolution and runs on a 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB and a microSD card slot for expanding the built-in memory.

We can’t be specific about the pricing and availability of the HTC Touch 3G either.

HTC Touch Viva

The last handset to appear on HTC's webpage is HTC Touch Viva. It is virtually identical to the original HTC Touch, save for the fact that it features a new version of the TouchFLO user interface. Looking like a simplified version of the TouchFLO 3D this interface is probably suited for working on PocketPCs with lower res screens and not so powerful CPUs.
