HTC Android

HTC is all set to launch its second flagship of 2017, the HTC U 11, at a simultaneous event tomorrow in New York, London, and Taipei. However, just a day before launch a full hands-on video of the phone appeared on YouTube.

Now the video itself is in Vietnamese so we are using our best guess to find out what is happening but from what can tell so far is that Edge Sense seems to be the big new feature this time. Update: The video has since been deleted so we have substituted it with screengrabs from a mirror.

The U 11 has pressure sensitive sides that react to you squeezing the sides of the phones and that lets you control some features of the phone, such as taking pictures and launching Google Assistant. You can adjust the sensitivity of the feature from the settings.

Meanwhile another report has it that the U 11 will ship with Baidu's DuerOS AI in China. This is likely to make up for the lack of Google services in the country.

Apart from that the phone is said to have Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 along with 6GB of RAM. Like the U Ultra the U 11 has curved glass on the front and back and once again there is no headphone jack. From previous leaks we also know that there will be a 12 megapixel camera on the back and 16 megapixel on the front. The display is 5.5-inch QHD LCD.

We will find out more specifications along with price tomorrow. The phone is expected to go on sale in Taiwan on May 11.

Just visually. I'm not a fan of the look of the phone. Without bezels, there is no character to the phone. And compared to the S8 it looks like a year old designed bezel-less phone. Then the back of the phone is just hideous. IMO, SD821 with he...

And what's 'meh' about the G6? It's the same price as the U11, but has a bigger battery, smaller bezels, and a better screen with HDR support. Did I mention how it also has a headphone jack? As I see it, the HTC is a bit lacking (seriously, just a 30...
