Hi. I am using this Y300 phone and I have brought 100 megabytes for 30 days once-off and mine were over within 5 days.I also tried to switch off data-switch hopping that it would slow down and save my megabytes but there was no difference.I am really irritated because with my previous phone my 100 megabytes would last way more than the 30 days provided. Please advice me on how to stop this because now I`m confused and feel like deleting every single app on this phone!!
this is a cheap phone with some good specifications. i got this phone for about $130. what i like from this phone:
1. scratch resistant glass
2. good quality of speaker
3. huawei qwerty input method
what i dislike:
1. it has kind of multitasking issue
2. super slow
i don't know how to fix those serious problem, i guess i am just gonna change the phone instead. save up for another android phone.
Ali, 17 Apr 2014Hi
I want to ask that how much user memory is available?User available memory is ca.:
1,05 GB internal (virtual SD)
cca. 900 MB of application memory (for installing APKs)
Phone is great. Cheap and works well. Ram is a bit small but you just need to keep closing apps if you don't root. My phone isn't rooted as I don't want to void my warranty, so I just use Du speed booster to temporarily boost ram. Also use defragger pro every morning, then reboot and phone regains a lot of speed. Screen resolution is great, had a galaxy trend plus, I prefer this phone, and it's half the price, battery lasts longer too.
AnonD-248110, 16 Apr 2014To everyone using this phone - I don't want to put the 'fear of the devil' into you all, but i... moreI've just sent 4 tweets concerning this potentially harmful issue, to the following:
Other users of the Y300 - please consider doing the same.
To the moderators on GSM Arena - please don't delete these 2 posts as they are important to people who've purchased this phone, IMO.
Anonymous, 15 Apr 2014I have this phone and I'm just wondering, can I update my android version to 4.4 kitkat? Not officially ; you'd need to root the phone first, then select from one of the available KitKat (equivalent) ROMs on a site like Modaco.
It's time-consuming & fairly complex if never done so before, and you can 'brick' your phone so would need to be careful if you tried. Also, read comments of any ROM you might try using beforehand, as that will indicate known problems.
Anonymous, 15 Apr 2014How my keyboard should appear ? my keyboard does not appear automatically or not at all when ... moreHave you tried following any of this: go to Settings - Language & input - then adjust settings in each of these by ticking in the box & touching the wheel on the right.
It's possible the keyboard hasn't been set to use as the default (which seems strange).
However, recommend you change to another free one from the Google Play store, like "TouchPal X"
To everyone using this phone - I don't want to put the 'fear of the devil' into you all, but in case you've not yet read, there is a (potential) security vulnerability in using the Y300.
Essentially, phones like the Y300 running Jelly Bean version 4.1.1 are now a problem for users, as usernames/passwords can apparently be hacked from them.
This (along with many other articles) explains why:
Heartbleed: 50m Android phones may be affected, report shows http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/heartbleed-50m-android-phones-may-be-affected-report-shows-9263155.html
Things I've either already done / intend doing:
1. Deleted any GMail, Twitter, Facebook accounts I had on the phone, whether an account I setup or via a browser.
2. Checked my phone for a security update - there was nothing up to last night.
3. Checked their website for a security update - the only file they have is the original JB 4.1.1 ROM.
3. Tweeting @Huawei - PLEASE DO THE SAME ; THEY NEED TO BE BOMBARDED WITH TWEETS TO RELEASE A FIX ASAP - to ask them when they're going to release a patch to fix this security breach (I read that Google have done what they need to in this regard, and now it's up to the manufacturers to release something OTA or a downloadable file).
4. If no response via Tweets, please consider E-mailing them within the next week ; search their website "huawei media contacts" - these are the only email addresses I could find ; they also need to receive enough emails (if they ignore Tweets) requesting a fix so they bother doing something soon, else they'll drag their feet.
We shouldn't be vulnerable, because they can't be bothered in even communicating with the scores of people who have bought this phone.
If anyone knows of any communication by them indicating a fix (which I doubt would've happened so soon) please post something here (with reference/s) to that effect. (nothing in the "News" on this website, regarding this, as I've just looked).
how do you u guys send music and images besides without Bluetooth# why doesn't the y300 have Bluetooth?
Hae everyone,i recommend this phone for 80%.camera,flash,display,battery,memory-all fine.only that main speaker sound abit low, processor also abit slow.all in all just a gd phone.
I have this phone and I'm just wondering, can I update my android version to 4.4 kitkat?
How my keyboard should appear ? my keyboard does not appear automatically or not at all when i want to type a message or look for anything through the store.
have you met the same issue? thank you
AnonD-253982, 14 Apr 2014how much ram do you have left after installing your apps?what a phone?
AnonD-253982, 14 Apr 2014how mych Ram do you guys have left im experiencing serious app crashes and phone is slow due t... moreI have 713MB still available for applications.
I've not downloaded too many apps, though - just essential ones. Have you put a MICRO SD card into your phone yet? (preferably get Sandisk, IMO). I have an 8GB card to which I send all mp3's / mp4's / podcasts, and as many other apps as the developers have allowed for, given the phone's not rooted (now).
If you don't yet have a card, buy one & move what you can across - that'll free-up memory. Also, put Clean Master (& CM Security) onto the phone so you can easily boost the RAM, clear cache, free-up memory.
I did root it on the weekend, to see if I could move ALL apps across, but Chrome (which takes up about 80MB in Internal) wouldn't budge. The SD-card needs to be partitioned, apparently, for that to work, but I couldn't be bothered at that stage - reverted back to non-root.
Finally, I get quite a bit of "app isn't installed" error messages when the phone's been idle for quite some time - don't know if it's a lack of RAM or simply incompatibility issue, but just restart phone when it happens.
