But again don't get me wrong. The 16nm SoC process, having a compass, Cat6 LTE, big 5.6" is all but good.
Turn-offs such as microUSB port, questionable history of screen tech (especially with Honor), history of camera issues (poor low-light, no video stabilization, unnatural photos, etc.), questionable performance (because of a bloated software) and questionable update prioritisation is too hard not to avoid.

Anybody tell me about honor 9 lite....i am planning to buy this phone, i have to buy or not?
I see that its price is 230 euro, why is that it is cheaper than the Huawei P Smart which cost, according ro gsmarena, around 260 euro????
Gino76, 27 Mar 2018I kind of get what you are saying but I am sticking to my opinion. And you havn't even answere... moreWell, that's what I usually do: buy new flagships of 2 years ago instead of new midrangers because they offer better price/performance. This time I switched because the taller screen/thin bezel was better than old flagships and other things missing werent that bad. Still this phone is CAT6, not4 and if you see 200 eur phones, all of them except xiaomi's A1 use mUSB for what I know,.. and the A1 is still closer to 300 euros in the EU :P
Also I think mUSB will be all but dead: devices like kindles, cameras, art tablets, BT headphones and BT speakers, smarthome stuff etc all use and will use mUSB for cost and size reasons, so I see it living for many years to come along with USB-C, like it or not :D

If you look at it in a different perspective the specs of flasghips of 1-2 years ago should be and expected to be on this year's budget mid-range line. And I don't even think these companies actually consider that or even listen to its customers. Yes they are after "cost saving" and profits. But I also think innovation and moving forward with the times should also be considered.
A microUSB charging port , slow Cat4 LTE, screen brightness of 500nits or below, single mono speaker and software update after 6-9 months are thinking that should be confined to the history books and an old warehouse.
lels, 26 Mar 2018Yes. Sharp is not manufactured nor assembled in China, FYI.How many ppl buy Sharp smartphone?
Gino76, 26 Mar 2018USB Type-C have been around for almost 2 years now. Surely a rich company such as Huawei/Honor... moreI know it looks simple, but for a company even 1 cent less per connector is worth thousands of $$ in savings over millions of phones, and that's just the connector. $1 less for that "lousy" kirin 659 equals a million $ over a million phones, and these are the things that allow them to sell it for 200 eur instead of 400... now since most people don't give even that cent if their phone has microUSB or USB-C,..with most areas and providers making no difference if your phone has CAT6 or CAT12 LTE, or since we don't look at screens with magnifying glasses and so on,.. it happens that most people just won't notice the difference between a $200 phone and a $500 phone, so when that cheaper phone ticks some boxes like larger decent screen, good looks and acceptable performance, it's just said to be a good deal.
Again, things are also relative and I have to remind you that last fall, the hot deal in Europe was the huawei P8 lite,... for about 180 euros,.. Im not saying this P9lite is a miracle,.. but its an improvement ;)
M and M, 26 Mar 2018Really,... and can you name a phone that is not made in China :DYes. Sharp is not manufactured nor assembled in China, FYI.
M and M, 26 Mar 2018Wooahh,.. ban microUSB,.. maybe you want to burn all LCD phones :P,.. dont you think it's a bi... moreUSB Type-C have been around for almost 2 years now. Surely a rich company such as Huawei/Honor can stick one for a sub-£200 phone right? Coz its the damn future. And yes sunlight readability is important to me - I asked this question coz from my experience of owning Huawei/Honor phones their sunlight legibility (even being 500 nits & above) is still poor for my "basic" needs. And this whole 18:9 aspect ratio thing is a gimmick as the phone becomes too tall and the aspect ratio is only good for watching films in such ratio which is very limited for now. And about you mentioning a quad-core phone staying with Android 6 let me ask you this ...do you think this phone would go to 8.1 soon? Or Android 9.0 within 6 months? I think we all know the answer to that question. (a big fat No)
Gino76, 23 Mar 2018I do understand specs is one thing but having a "basic" specs sheet for a "standard" 4G phone ... moreWooahh,.. ban microUSB,.. maybe you want to burn all LCD phones :P,.. dont you think it's a bit excessive for a 200 euro phone that is trying to be decent, especially in Europe, when just a few months ago that money bought you a 5", 720p screen with a lousy quad core and android 6 for life.
This is a decent phone that will perform decently for most, non-gaming uses.I switched to it and gave up things like USB-C or quick charging when my previous phone hit the ground. Have to be a bit more careful than with USBC yes, and at the beach I try to enjoy the sun, so never had a sunlight readability problem with any phone, that's about it :D
Which is the best mid-range cell phone from any famous company for example Huawei, Samsung, oppo etc... reply please
