yes the mate 8 can receive notifications on the lock screen with the apps closed,
some apps you have to enable it in the settings, like what i did with whats app. after that no issues, i'm receiving the notifications from face book as well, so no need to keep the app running in the background.

Is it possible to buy Mate 8 in Silver White but for it to be 4GB RAM and 64GB? I couldn't find it like that anywhere - and gold and brown are ugly.

Mostafa Oraby, 19 Feb 2016I switched mainly to the mate 8 because of thd battery life and the larger screen size with mi... morehi mostafa... i want to buy it but does it recieving all notifications normally of all apps when screen is off & no apps running in background? or i have to open the application to recieve the notifications & keep it running in the background by locking it as usual i do till now in my mate 7 many apps like whatss app outlook app and many other apps not receiving notification when screen is off i have to open it.there is also a break google notification i tried every thing but nothing useful even the customer services doesnt make any thing i think the problem is in the bad android skin(emotion ui) please answer thanks

i had mate7 before and the battery is a beast. 6+ of screen time is a killer. i hardly kill it a day. once i got home around 7pm its still have around half of the battery, but im disapointed about the camera hope mate8 is good. i read and watch some review and majority says its a decent shooter. .well see.

I am happy owner of Mate 8. Exxcelent phone for me - long battery lify, good screen, good CPU power, camera is just ok.

And screen size of 6" in almost the same body size of the note5 with 5. 7" screen.
Both are running smooth and fast but the mate8 is faster.

note 5 user, 18 Feb 2016which one you found better, right now i am using note 5 duos, how you found mate 8 I switched mainly to the mate 8 because of thd battery life and the larger screen size with minimal body increase, honestly i dont feel any difference when the phone is in my pocket compared to the note5,
I have to say also that samsung touch wiz is better than huawei EMUI but still i get the functionality i need from it except the vibration issue i mentioned earlier. Also the main camera on the not 5 is better, but i think mate8 camera will be fixed with a software update, it's a sony sensor after all.

This is an excellent phone but but but ................
The camera is nothing compared to samsung's cameras.
I had to customize the entire phone from launcher in this case using the nova launcher using my own phone software.
The phone is the chinese version and the UI is not very nice my opinion.
Solution for the camera is to install software from google play store.
Installing the google launcher is very tricky and needs some strange workaround to be found on youtube it be same as installing on a xiaomi phone.
Otherwise very snappy phone super fast .
At times the wifi can be fast but very slow going down to kb even bytes.
Again I install a wifi manager from google play store which seemed to have improved this.
Still if you need a good camera and not very technical and don't like all this work arounds stick to known brands in this case nexus p6 does a lot more for you !
