Will just miss this phone, as I am going to swap in a few days, for other reasons.
It still runs as hell, fast, reliable, durable.
Good bye companion, it has been a great 8 years trip.
I will keep it at home as a memory, many iphones had bitten dust...

writing this message using my mate 9 now. used it for years, then give it to my dad as he want larger phone. bought him a new phone then I take back this mate 9 as my back up. still strong although it's already 8 years old. Gold color, metal built, sleek and elegant design. mine is Chinese vversion. 128gb/ 6GB ram. in year 2017, many phones still having 64GB /4GB. USB Type-C port in year 2016, 4000mAh battery can last for 2 days usage.
huawei is so advanced. after that I have tried and used all models for mate 20 series and Put series, and was stop there. because huawei?no more supported by google.
how I wish I will back to huawei family.

I had another newer phone lying around, so I finally decided to stop using my Mate 9 as my main phone. After 7 years of pure bliss. So, not because there was anything wrong with the Mate 9 (I never replaced anything, not even the battery, and it was still going strong). More because the Mate 20 Pro of my daughter was rotting in a drawer since 6 months.
It's been a great ride with the Mate 9. If I compare both, the screen of the Mate 9 was flat and wider. And the fingerprint reader on the Mate 9 was more reliable.
But the Mate 20 has 2 streams for wifi, vs 1 stream for Mate 9. This is a big difference in practice in parts of the house where wifi signal is flaky.
And the Mate 20 Pro gets a GPS fix faster. (Mate 9 was marketed as working with Galileo, but it never really did.)
IP protection is cool.
And the extra-wide lens and super-macro are cool feature.
Both devices are nice.

Have had this thing now for over 6 years, not in active use anymore of course but it's still working fine and still love the pictures it takes, even preferred using this is a cameraphone over the 2020 Xiaomi Mi 10, although I do feel my Xiaomi 13 does a better job I commend this phone for its amazing and lasting quality

It got a new battery for half a year, now it lasts 2 days with one charge :)
In addition, I also use a Mate 20 Pro.

It is amazing to see the performance has not reduced a bit ever since. Last week i accidently dropped it and the pannel is now broken. I wanted to keep it for as long as i could but i have to go for other options now.

Been daily driving my mate 9 for 6 years now and starting to look around for other options...

Uzairimam, 25 Sep 2023Wrost battery experience :/ It has 4000 mah battery but its stemina is not good. I have been using my Mate 9 since 2017 and it still has an amazing battery life. I didn't even need to replace the battery so far.
