Huawei P20 lite (2019) is shaping up to be a much bigger upgrade than initially leaked

Huawei Android Rumors

A few days ago word got out (along with leaked press renders) that Huawei is working on a P20 lite (2019), which at the time seemed like a pretty minor update to the original phone that launched in 2018. A new screen with smaller bezels and a punch-hole camera was seemingly the only big change.

According to a new report from the same source, some of the originally leaked specs were off, and the P20 lite (2019) is actually shaping up to be a much bigger upgrade than initially thought. Its display will grow from 5.84" to 6.4", the aspect ratio is taller too with the 2019 model sporting 1080x2310 resolution. The camera in that punch-hole is a 16 MP unit with f/2.2 aperture.

Furthermore, the new phone will have a huge 4,000 mAh battery, 33% larger than the one in the original, though wireless charging support isn't built-in. On the back there are four cameras: a 24 MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8 MP shooter, and two 2 MP snappers - though it's unclear what purpose each of these three has. One of the 2 MP units is clearly a depth sensor, we'll have to wait for more info to be leaked to find out about the others.

The Huawei P20 lite (2019) will run Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9.1 on top, and it's going to have 4GB of RAM and 64 or 128GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage. At the helm sits HiSilicon's mid-range chipset, the Kirin 710. The phone also packs a fingerprint reader on the back, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, a USB-C port, and a hybrid dual SIM slot that can also take a microSD card. A headphone jack is present too.

The handset will be offered in Midnight Black, Crush Blue, and Charming Red, and its body is made of plastic. Its dimensions are 159.1 x 75.9 x 8.3 mm, and it weighs 178g. In Europe it will be sold for €280 with 64GB of storage, and €330 with 128GB. It should be in stores in the next few weeks.

AOSP updates don't require a Google license nor their support, so they could continue at a slightly delayed pace.

No it's not, a thicker battery would accomplish this in the same phone footprint.

It's probably the last update...Google/android will no longer support Huawei....
