yes, Xiaomi camera app is superior to Samsung or Huawei at the moment, pics taken with Xiaomi phones will be best;
software however is awesome and pretty much the quickest on the Huawei phones;
but i can't confirm the bad focus on any range, bcoz the AI switches to 'close up' mode as soon i get too close to an object and is quickly back to normal mode when i look out of the window;
i also have no probs with the file manager and attaching of the files on facebook, dunno about viber tho

Camera has serious problem with focusing in short distance. Photo color is pour, lower class Xiaomi have much better photo quality. Huawei phone software is very pour, file manager especially. Many times on Viber or Facebook I can't attach files on the phone because phone software doesn't show the location of these files.

and you seriously talk about pic taking skills in a mobile phone forum? 👌🤣
you know that regardless of skills, if same person makes a comparison,
regardless of what it is, then the outcome will be pretty much the same as with the guy who designed that thing; the comparison may be on a different level and with different details, but the result remains same;
if the good pic quality can only be achieved with a tripod in 'pro mode' , then it's useless, taht is why S20Ultra beats P40/Mate40 series at night, and Xiaomi beats all mentioned if in 'pro mode' on a tripod.
Huawei once made best pictures. That time belongs to the past.
And if a pro could take better pics than a 'normal person' , than that device would be useless for the ppl this phone was made for, bcoz this is not a professional camera, this is a phone.

so the only thing most ppl will use is the main camera, the second one will be for marco
krissy, 31 May 2021'The guy asks which are the better camera between P40 Pro+ and Mate 40.'
There is... moreWhen someone ask about differences in camera, it means the overall aspects. Not only the main cam. Of course the main sensor are the same (I've told this numerous times, but seems like u still dont have any idea about it)
Mate 40 Pro
- main IMX700y + no OIS.
- Ultra Wide Angle with lower pixel size (less DR), slo-mo beyond 240fps are all interpolated.
- Telephoto with single FL at x5 optical zoom, x10 hybrid zoom.
- Only Laser AF.
P40 Pro+
- main IMX700y + OIS (shutter speed performance, better on fast moving object, better low light).
- Ultra Wide Angle with bigger pixel size, slo-mo got true 960fps & 1920fps. 7680fps are interpolated.
- Telephoto with two range of FL. x3 optical zoom + x5 hybrid zoom and x10 optical zoom + x15 hybrid zoom.
- ToF 3D, better AF in low light, better DoF separation.
Again, stop playing smart if u dont know what youre talking about.

I DO KNOW P40 & MATE 40 EXCLUDING LITE VERSION HAS IMX700y, DUH. The differentiate between them in certain aspects makes P40 Pro+ the better camera. Not the Mate 40. I think if u dont have anything nice to say in this P40 thread, go spam to Xiaomi thread instead of here.

and since only the lite version has different camera, then that could be true for all 40 series, thus that is not a reason to choose Pro+ over the P40 or Mate40.
Secondly, 108MP beats the 50MP easily. I compared a 27MP picture made by Xiaomi MiNote10 to the 50MP/50MP Ai by P40Pro, i didn't even had to go for the full resolution of the 108MP to beat the P40Pro. Yup, if the Ai combines data from the pixels and instead of 108MP does 27MP, the quality will be still superior - goes for daylight and night pics too.
So nly the video quality is most likely best, if we talk only about the cameras.
Slo mo video has a very brief time limit, and at 7860fps the phone will tell you 'can't record at 1080p' , and P40Pro can do that too it seems, which is totally useless.
And you can buy Mate40Pro+, it's just you will be paying close to 1600Eur.

Variable focal of length. Mate 40 Pro no OIS, worse UWA, omit the 7680fps slomo. Mate 40 Pro+ are the best theorytically, but only available in China, so I minus that one.

Go for P40 Pro+. Its the best what Huawei phone camera got to offer (internationally) today, instead of Mate 40 Pro. Whole range of focal length (x3 & x10 optical), OIS on main camera, better UWA with 7680fps slo-mo. Mate 40 Pro is the inferior camera.
Markus Leto, 26 May 2021Hi Guys, need a little help. I'm torn between the Mate 40 pro and the P40 pro+.
I'm... moreas to this day, Huawei failed to fix the colors in the pictures...except from the wide mode, all other cameras on this very phone produce fake colors, they are quite a lot off, so much that after watching the pics on a PC, you can clearly tell the colors are not right.
Can't compete to any phone that has a 108MP camera, but the video quality is very good.
Sound quality is not so awesome either, in fact the under screen speaker requires squishing the phone to your skull in order to make somewhat proper phone calls - for which i don't care actually;
Battery life is however quite nice as expected from Huawei, the phone unlocks with face/finger very very fast, one of the fastest phones out there, fingerprint unlocking is as fast or almost as fast as on the Mate10pro - and i know no phone that can unlock faster.
Hi Guys, need a little help. I'm torn between the Mate 40 pro and the P40 pro+.
I'm leaning towards the P40 pro+ because of the more flexible camera hardware and 512 GB storage. But the Mate 40 pro has a lot going for it like stereo speakers, faster charging, and faster chipset. I'm just not a fan of extreme edge curves. Having said that, I think I prefer better handling and camera hardware over than other features. Should I go for the Mate 40 pro instead?
Kev, 21 Apr 2021I am a Huawei user with a P30 Pro; and yes, I also dislike the smudged colors now and then.
... moreFrom what i can tell, the only mode that can take pics with almost right colors is the 'wide' mode (the slighder on the right shows '1x' if you slide down you get to 'wide');
now don't get me wrong, i tried everything i could, and still can't get the colors on the pics to what i see with my own eyes;
yes, but to compare pics across the phones, i use the PC, so, any setting that alters phone screen colors has nothing to do with my comparison; yes, i tried the camera app filters on the photos, still no use, in fact if i use that on MiNote10, then it destroys any competition;
i did compare all phones i have on different settings, i tried auto, but most of the time i tested the Pro mode, bcoz the MiNote10 did set a quite extreme standard, of which i had no idea until i bought other flagships;
yes, P40Pro can take awesome pics at night, if the object is let's say not further than 10~15meters away, then the pics look as if they were taken with daylight;
but, for any other objects at night, Pro or Auto mode, doesn't matter, the pics have tons of artifacts and colors i don't know they came from;
best result was in Auto mode, but rather by coincidence,50MP, ISO 65535 @1/17sec;
even Samsung S20Ultra beats P40Pro at taking pics at night, and both phones have difficulties with focus at night;
and then comes Xiaomi, not only the pics are better, you can zoom in too, and due to few artifacts the file size is way smaller at 108MP than P40Pro does at 50MP , we are talking here about 25% in file size difference;
Xiaomi beats also the S20Ultra in file size and quality, daylight pics will be up to 30% bigger in file size on the S20Ultra;
meanwhile S20Ultra can keep up with MiNote10 in daylight pics...but still not in the file size;
guess i will have to waste some of my time and make a video comparing the pic and maybe video quality, this will make quite a lot of ppl cry :))

What I tend to do is take RAW images, or with the Master AI switched off. Such images tend to look natural. Also, when you are taking night mode photos, Huawei totally nails the colors when you stick it onto a tripod, as it uses 12 to 25 seconds on the exposure. You can be impatient and use auto, and get a photo that can occasionally look totally wrecked, such as the colorful but smudged images at 409,600 ISO.
Xiaomi gets the colors right due to it preferring to adjust the images and take its time. However, Huawei likes to take the photo as fast as possible and many times forgets image colors. You can always tinker with the settings to counteract this.
Also.....what color temperature setting is your Huawei phone on? As Linus Tech Tips pointed at some ASUS phones, he hated their cameras until he realized that it was the default display color that was messing the photos up, colorwise.
To address the slow motion.....Well, there isn't much to say apart from that it's equally terrible across any phone, due to the incredibly fast speed the shutter has to take the frames at.
