For U.S. customers, Skype for Android only works over WiFi. To use Skype on an Android phone over a 3G connection, you must be a Verizon Wireless customer and use Skype mobile™.

Tony, 02 Nov 2010Hey hows the Battery life on this device and the talk time? Its been 10 days since i purchased this set i am using it vigorously with WIFI, GPRS and GPS on 24 x 7, its giving me 12 hours,
when I use it without wifi or use wifi and GPRS occasionally it gives a 24 hours battery backup.
Hi, I got my IDEOS phone 3 days before from zong pakistan for Rs 12000 & now I can compare it with my Nokia N82.
1. Fast interface.
2. Strong GPS & Wifi
3. Lot of free software available as compared to Nokia OVI.
3. Touch screen & phone quality is good.
4. Live news & weather update on your screen.
5. Good for Social networking & email.
1. Not good for sms lovers as sms interface is not user frendly & on screen keyboard not good.
2. You cannot see who is calling when screen get locked & that lock is by default in phone cannot be removed.
3. Battery produces lot of heat during charging.
4. Camera is weak not a chance to compare it with Nokia N82.
5. Applications can only be installed on Phone memory not on SD card.
6. No support for Adobe flash player 10.1 so you cannot play flv movies from your SD card.
7. Supports only zong network in paskistan.
8. Headset quality is sub-standard.
Used the set. Amazingly light. Amazingly fast. Super fast. Feature packed. I would recommend this. A low price gadget but a real PDA to have.
It is very fast and smoothly running device as it has 256MB RAM and 512MB ROM, I would recommend this set to all, you can install thousands of apps direct from android market preinstalled.
I found this gadget excellent.
Basit, 27 Oct 2010any body using nimbuzz on this fone?? plz help meI am using Nibuzz on this cell phone and its working smoothly perfect.
Bunty, 28 Oct 2010does it have swype? Is there any way to get it if it doesnt?no it doznt hav swype...n there is no way to activate swype on it till now....coz swype doz not comes with froyo or any other OS by default...swype is introduced in the OS by the user interface(UI) modification like samsung have TouchWiz UI, motorola have MOTOBLUR UI.....but ideos comz with froyo the way it is without any UI...means ideos comes with froyo the way google made, it without any changes......u can use swype on ideos only if huawei releses a firmware update for ideos in which day introduces there own UI that coms with swype feature
hope u got wotever i tried to xplain;)
I am using Ideos since 3 days as my 2nd phone (got it from Zong). I have a HTC Desire and I have used HTC Hero too.
For people who are planning to buy it, please dont hesitate, just go for it. Its an excellent phone. Its specs and performance is comparable with Hero.
The only issue which you will learn to overcome with time is the small screen; virtual keyboard is small to type sms or email in portrait view but to type in landscape view is perfect.
It is faster than my expectation, all software available for Froyo is compatible, There are no Zong Logos on phone or shown during startup (but it is carrier locked).
Camera result is not good indoors, but quite good outdoors (in sun light).
You cannot get a better Android phone in Rs16000/-
I bought this phone on Oct 28 here in Pakistan. Its pretty responsive. Screen is bright but bit low res. i have'nt been able to figure out how to install flash on it. Installed Astro. Looked for Skype in Market but could'nt find it so downloaded the .apk of it and installed that way - now i can login to Skype but it crashes soon as i select a contact. So i did a little googling and found out that Skype for Android requires atleast 600MHz CPU as well as 480x320 res screen. IDEOS does not have either.
Other than that its a great smartphone. browsing is quick, plays all music and video formats (yxplayer) ofcourse not high res videos. So far i have not been able to do any VoIP. However Googles appz work swell. Maps, Lattitude, GTalk all work as well as on a much more expensive phone. Facebook too works A-1, however facebook videos dont work so far. YouTube works fine. All things considered its a great deal at this price!
Now if only i could unlock it!
all is fine but please some one give details on the worksman ship and built quality of the phone
but the Xperia X8 have some 128Mb or so amount of ram (you won't find it in any spec site but forum & blogs). and if SE hops it'll function & do multitasking, IDEOS looks to be its boss by specs, at least.
The specs don't say how much system RAM the phone has for running apps. This is a critical part of the spec. It will need a minimum to 256MB to function well. Any less and it will be seriously constrained, like the HTC Magic 32B or HTC G1 running Froyo...and they only have 192MB of RAM.
